If I could give this hotel ten stars I would. The hotel is a warm and welcoming haven of peace and tranquilty. The staff are brilliant, courteous and very helpful. The rooms are delightful and very well appointed and the hotel is surrounded by beautiful well kept gardens where you can spend a wonderful stress free day. The bar area is small but very appealing and the restaurant is second to none with views to die for. All in all this is a wonderful hotel which is well worth a visit, you will not be disappointed.
We stayed twice at this hotel, on our way to Dorgali and it was a pleasant stay. The hotel is conveniently close to the beach and it has a reserved space on the beach, including the sunbeds and umbrellas. The staff is very helpful and friendly and the food very good. The fact that the breakfast cappuccino is at extra cost and that the gamberoni we had were not top quality, was easily overcome by the great wine and the live music at dinner.
We booked a superior double room with balcony and sea view through the hotel booking site with the early booking discount. I would recommend using this reservation system not only for the discount (if you book early enough) but as it makes it easier to contact the hotel directly to arrange any specific needs/requests. Having said that, we stayed for 11 nights and although our room (42) did have both a balcony and a sea view, for some reason we had it in our minds that the view would be similar to the one on the hotel website (which in our case, it wasn't), looking straight out to sea. The sea view was only at the (left) side of the balcony. The main view was towards the roof of the restaurant and on the right, to the road, the car park and the hillside. This was a bit disappointing (especially as we stayed for a fairly long period of time) but is one of the few negatives in an overall positive review and holiday. The hotel arranged transfers from Olbia airport to Pittulongu for us (not cheap at 30€ one way but reliable, very comfortable and on time). I must disagree with a previous comment or 'favouritism' towards one 'nationality' of guests. We didn't experience this at all and were glad (in these depressing days of Brexit) to be with guests of all nationalities and backgrounds who were all treated with equal courtesy and efficiency by the hotel staff. We must make special mention of the hotel staff too who were, almost without exception, welcoming, attentive and approachable. In particular, we found Michelangelo in the restaurant to be not only an affable and humorous waiter but also genuinely interested in exchanging conversation with us and honestly helpful when we were making our food choices. The proximity of the hotel to the wonderful beach (again managed by an extremely courteous and interesting member of the salvataggio staff) within well kept grounds, make it perfect for a relaxing holiday. There are several excellent restaurants within walking distance nearby (where it is also possible to sit overlooking the beach) e.g. Il Tetto Rosso, Mama Beach and nearby Lo Squalo, if you tire of the menu available at the hotel. We used the bus link to Olbia quite a bit (sometimes the buses are quite full in the summer at least) and went by bus to the Maddalena Islands and by train to Sassari. I think if we were to return to this part of Sardinia, however, we would definitely pre-book a car (the rates with the company used by the hotel seemed quite expensive). In short, come here for a relaxing break but book in advance and discuss with the hotel exactly what you expect from your room and book a hire car in advance to explore a bit further when (if!) you ever tire of the white sands of Pittulongu beach or the well manicured gardens of the hotel.
Our two-weeks stay at this hotel left just the best impressions. Especially if you don't expect a 4 star hotel to turn out to be a 5 star one. At this place you begin to feel like at home very soon. We found the members of the staff to be truly friendly, nice and ready to help in any situation. The sea and the beach is perfect and just a 3-minutes walk from the hotel. Unfortunately the road to the beach is a public area which is not very clean. We had HB and liked both breakfasts and dinners. During dinners you can chose from a set menu. We would also recommend Mama beach restaurant at the beach where we had our lunch. Don't forget to book the table in the morning because the place is extremely popular. The bus stop is near the hotel so we went to Olbia a couple of times for sightseeing and shopping. We would certainly recommend this hotel.
The hotel was very different it felt like you were staying in someones home. It is family run, and all the staff are very friendly, nothing is too much trouble for them. No complaints about the food, but don't expect a full English for breakfast. Our bedroom was large and spacious with french doors out on to our own littlle garden with sunbeds and umbrella, in the room you have a fridge but no coffee making facilities. It is a stones throw from the beach. The hotel is kept beautifully clean. Can't wait to go again.
Stunning views from the room. Some of the staff were friendly. However it would seen that the management were only attentive towards the German guests which would appear to be the bread and butter of the business. Hotel certainly doesn't look as fresh as the photos. Dodgy wiring in rooms very weak WiFi, and no sorry but TV does not show international shows, all either fully Italian or Italian dubbed. Coffee and tea at breakfast was shockingly bad. So the charge for other menu teas and coffees ridiculous for a so called 4 star hotel. Dated appearance and pool tiles missing all over floor of pool and sharp edges were not welcome. Some of the management were rather smug and rude I noticed. And also limited help was offered save for a phone call or two on my behalf when my luggage had been lost on an unscheduled connection flight to Olbia. Breakfast was ok but eggs cold everyday and the chopped into 3 hot dog sausages are a very cheap sausage to use. Not good at all. As a chef of 24 years this is difficult not to mention. With a combined 45 years I'm the hotel industry myself and my partner were left underwhelmed by much the hotel had to offer. As I said before not all was bad far from it but much more effort must be made for ALL guests. Beds round pool very old and uncomfortable compared to other hotels. I used some cushions to help this but not ideal. Bedroom also was not cleaned every day. We suspected this after day 3 when my partner noticed the bed was actually not made just left the way she my partner had tidied it. This must have looked good enough for housekeeping. Walk to the beach is a rather unsightly broken up and often flooded and smelly dirt road and certainly not a beach front hotel as described. Close but not quite. As our flight had been cancelled by British airways we were stunned to see we had still been charged the full 10 days even though we only stayed 9 days. Very unaccommodating and not good practice. I remind the owners that we my partner and I are veterans of the industry at a very high level so we know what to expect and this is not it! 2 good staff members were the gentleman behind reception ( we did not get his name) and the young blonde girl behind bar. Also Giuseppe at breakfast and another man with longer black hair. The others I'm afraid were not particularly in our experience very friendly. Unless you were German you also.dont get a tour of hotel. Was it something we said???
This family-owned hotel is comfortable, clean and well-run. We had one of the few rooms with a balcony, with a table and two chairs. Our room was large with a comfortable bed, a small settee and sufficient storage space. Reception staff were particularly helpful and the waiting staff, especially the young lady who helped at the bar, were very friendly. We hired a car and had no problems parking in the hotel's car park. The hotel has an outside pool with plenty of sun-loungers and umbrellas. We preferred, however, to spend our time in the hotel's beach area, where there was always a breeze. There are plenty of umbrellas and loungers there too and a member of staff is on hand to get you set up for a relaxing day. You are given one beach towel as part of your room rate, but have to pay to change it. Since some guests stay for a week, whilst others for much shorter periods, we thought the hotel should change it after a fixed period of days. There were a lot of hawkers on the beach, but they didn't come inside the hotel's designated area. In June, the beach was very busy. There are a few bars/restaurants where you can buy snacks, ice-creams etc, but this is not a built up area. The Stefanie is the only hotel of any size. We decided therefore to have half board. We found the choice very limited. On Friday and Saturday night there was no choice at all. We enjoyed some meals more than others but, after we visited other resorts later in the holiday, came to the conclusion that half-board did offer reasonable value for money. All guests eat outside in the evening and we enjoyed the atmosphere in the restaurant. Most evenings there was a singer, whom we enjoyed listening to. Breakfast was continental. The items on the buffet breakfast were standard, but there was good quality bread and croissants. Items were regularly replenished. English breakfast tea was available, but not on display.
We stayed at this hotel for one week from 4-11 July, having booked Easyjet flights and then booked the hotel independently from the hotel's own website. It was very straightforward. We booked bed & breakfast but on arrival were told that we could also book a 3 course evening meal each day for 15 euros, which we thought was quite good value and we decided to book it for the week. The owner Stefania and her staff are extremely friendly and helpful with very good English and go out of their way to help and please you from the time that you arrive. We had a garden room (double) on the ground floor which was very quiet and private, with safe, 24hr air con (very necessary as it was around 35 degrees each day) hairdryer, and towels for the beach included. Tea & coffee making facilities are not included in the room, but I emailed the hotel before we arrived asking about this and Stefania quickly replied and said she would put a kettle/cups & saucers etc in our room at no extra charge, which was very welcome. We found the hotel very clean and bedrooms/bathrooms are cleaned each day. Breakfast was plentiful and we enjoyed the fact that the scrambled egg, breads, cakes and biscuits and quiche were all home-made in the kitchen. There was fresh fruit, cheeses, hams, salad and cereals as well with tea/coffee/fruit juices and the restaurant overlooks the pool and the sea just in the distance, and the waiters were very pleasant and helpful. For evening meal again the chairs and tables were overlooking the pool in the open air and some evenings there was a musician playing. Each course in the evening was generous, especially the starters, perhaps a little more choice on each course would have been nice, and more items in the salad, but we enjoyed our meals each evening. We find Italy in general a little pricey for drinks but made the most of the happy hour 6-7pm at the bar, two drinks for the price of one. The hotel has a lovely pool and jacuzzi and hot tub and also a gym/fitness area indoors. A short walk through the hotel garden takes you to the beach, only a couple of minutes walk away and free sunbed & umbrella for hotel guests, which was welcome. The beach was very hot and quite crowded but the sea was warm and safe to swim in with a lifeguard present. Pittulongu itself has a lovely sandy beach but if you are looking for nightlife or bars it isnt the place for you, just 3 restaurant/cafes on the beach itself, it is ideal for a relaxing holiday. Olbia airport is a short drive or bus journey away as is Olbia town, which is worth a visit. Plenty of shops/bars etc there. We didnt hire a car but used the buses a couple of days in the week, only 1 euro for a ticket if you buy it in a shop before you get on the bus, the ticket lasts 90 minutes so you are able to use more than one bus in that time and the times of the buses are displayed at the bus stops in Olbia, and when it will arrive, it seems quite efficient. As the weather was very hot, we didnt venture far. One of the best things about this hotel is the hospitality and friendliness of the staff and its relaxed setting and we had a very enjoyable stay.
We have had a fantastic two weeks in this authentic Sardinian hotel. The staff were all really nice and helpful. The pool and gardens were really tranquil and the beautiful sandy beach was close by. The food was good , and the kitchen was happy to provide alternatives to the standard menu.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in pittulongu, the weather was not fantastic all week but we managed to do some exploring to keep ourselves entertained when we weren't at the beautiful beach. We stayed in villa stefania which is just across a small road (quiet road which leads to the beach only) and I would say based on other pictures that these rooms are much newer and modern. Perfectly clean and great shower. The staff were very helpful as we did not have a hire car so they helped us to work out how to navigate using the buses. We used the number 4 bus to go into Olbia a couple of times and is very easy, we also caught a 'sun line' bus from Olbia up to Porto Cuervo and also marinella which was cheap and good to see some other parts of the island as the local area is very quiet. We were staying on a b&b basis and breakfast was good but cake and carb heavy! Would have been nice to get an omelette or something without extra charge. If you like your tea (as us English do) I'd take some tea bags to breakfast with you as theirs is terrible! Haha We tried all of the restaurants in the local area, of which there are 6 (including the hotel restaurant) and mama beach was our favourite followed by the hotel. Trattoria rosa (a 2 min walk) has great pizzas which we often had during the day on the beach for lunch. A great stay overall, everything seems expensive but that's probably a lot to do with the current exchange rate!
