Husa Imperial Tarraco

Dated hotel in a great location near the main train station and the start of the rambla. The tourist train has a stop and sales booth right in front and most sites of tourism value are within easy walking distance. Our superior room was huge and boasted a large balcony overlooking the sea and the Roman ruins. The bathroom was also spacious. The breakfast room was almost too big for the amount of patrons we saw, but the food was good and plentiful - no cava though. The breakfast staff was neither engaging nor attentive, but did their jobs when not loudly discussing employer issues in the next room. While certainly not up to Hilton standards, we enjoyed a comfortable stay and recommend the Imperial Tarraco for a short visit to beautiful Tarragona.

Have stayed at this hotel quite a few times. This last time I was very disappointed the room we were allocated was shabby and in need of renovation. The room was at the back of the hotel with no views to speak of and overlooking a disgustingly filthy pool with no balcony which was disappointing as we thought all rooms had them. The staff also are quite ignorant especially Jose on reception. We asked if we could have a room with a balcony and he was very rude to us stating there were none available even though the hotel was half empty. Will not be staying there again. Will stay at the SB at the bottom of the Ramble Neuva in future which is a far better hotel.

We wanted some more sun than Barcelona, and Tarragona next door offer just that. Also it is full of history, as IT was capital of Roman Spain. Tarraco is right in the center of the town few meters from both the beach and the main square. Next door is a beautiful roman arena , funnily enough open to the sea (spectators might choose to look at hungry lions or the sea!). Great rooms and good restaurant . Stayed there twice. Great price too. Also accessible for wheelchairs.

Went for a quick getaway and we were very disappointed. We were told upon arrival that we only had the option of staying in a room with 2 single beds even though we had booked a double bed room. We got a "refurbished" room that looked like it hadn't been touched since the 70s. Hairdryer smelled burnt and made strange noises. Mattresses were terrible. You could feel every spring. Beds were also bolted to the floor so we couldn't even move them. The mini bar was completely empty and when we told the receptionist he said "Oh, I hope you didn't need anything." Stay away. Two stars given because it was at least clean.

I think the general tone of reviews on the site is fairly accurate. The hotel occupies a superb location and the views from the seaside rooms are magnificent. At least mine was- some of my colleagues seemed to feel that their windows weren’t so well positioned to take advantage of the view. This compensates to some extent for the run-down condition of the room. They are still obviously cleaned on a regular basis, but carpets are worn, beds are old, and so forth. The one really convenient feature is that there was a three-way electrical converter waiting for you in the socket. The breakfast room is also very pleasant- light and airy, surrounded by lovely gardens, and the quality of the breakfast is adequate. Services seem to be limited; although a four-star hotel, they have no business center where the guest can sit down and print out a boarding pass or other documents they need- you have to send an email to the desk and have them do it for you. Prices for everything seem to be low in Tarragona, so you still get reasonable value for your money. I wouldn’t refuse outright to give them another try on a return visit, but all in all it wasn’t very inspiring.

Despite the garish sixties decor (bright orange swirly paint in the corridors) this is a very comfortable and well run hotel with pleasant and extremely helpful staff. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've slept in. The views of the Mediterranean are truly spectacular, especially the full moon and an amazing sunrise. Good breakfast as well with the full range of cheeses, croissants, toast, boiled eggs. Fruit too.

Got a room with balcony overlooking the sea. The first room they tried to put me in smelt of damp, the entrance lights weren't working and neither the door nor the window onto the balkcony opened. On insistence, they put me in another room. It was better but still pretty shabby with black joints around the bath. All in all, poor first impressions of this massive 1950's hotel which has seen better days. However, the view is magnificent and the staff pleasant and after a couple of days you can actually get quite fond of the place!. You get the feeling that the staff care more than the owner who seems to be think that it's more cost effective to patch things up as they break rather than renovate the place entirely. Shame!

We stayed here for a week during the recent Santa Tecla festival. Its a great spot for the events and the shops of the Ramblas. The rooms at the front have a wonderful view over the Med. Our room was clean and adequate. The bathroom was very strange and had obviously had the bath removed perhaps for disabled access. The a/c was good and not too noisy. There were no UK channels on the TV. Also there were no drawers (even though there was lots of space) so we had to live out of the case and wardrobe for a week. The pool area is nice but there are not many sunbeds and several were broken and needed to be thrown away. The breakfast was fine and the staff were helpful and friendly. Very reasonable bar prices which is unusual for a hotel. A decent 3 star hotel I would say but not a real 4 star. It was cheap so I can't complain. Good value for money.

Stayed 15th -23rd September we stayed last year in a refurbished suit this year in a refurbished double equally as nice spacious with lovely veiws. Check in friendly and quick ,we were given a trin room first night when i complained tha i had booked a double this was sorted out. Hotel clean perfectly placed to explore Tarragona. It was festival week Santa Tecla fantastic but very busy. In all a lovely hotel (renovation ongoing)very helpful and friendly staff Would recommend Room tip 3rd floor referbished with sea view

The location of the hotel could not have been better for exploring Tarragona and the view from the room (get a seaside view with a balcony) was great. It felt like the holiday had started before we had even left the room! From the balcony we had a lovely vista out to sea, overlooking the ampitheatre and the forum. Also the main starting point for the tourist train, which was good. The hotel is a bit dated and tired in places; the bed was a bit soft for my liking and on one morning there was no hot water for a shower, but overall it provided everything we needed and I would say that the hotel is much better and better value than some of the reviews would suggest. We did not eat or drink at the hotel so I cannot comment on the food or prices. For me though, the view was the main attraction and I would recommend the hotel on that basis alone.
