Very pleased with our stay at La Gavina, the beauty and luxury it offered were as advertised. The common areas are fantastic, decorated in antique style, though strangely empty and underused. Great food options: I would definitely recommend trying the Candlelight restaurant, especially on the outside terrace under the moonlight - it offers captivating creative cuisine bordering on the molecular without taking it over the top. It was good to be able to have a meal pretty much at any time during the day at the El Barco / Gavina Terrace bar / restaurant - a welcome change from most places in Europe where you were out of luck if you got hungry in the afternoon after lunch hours. The pool is very comfortable with great views, there were not that many people during the first week of September, so it was tranquil and nice. Our main worry when booking was the lack of a hotel beach, it turned out to be completely unwarranted. The town beach at S'Agaro was a quick walk away, but we ended up taking the slightly longer stroll to the quieter Sa Conca beach, with nice clean sands and sea. The beach was very peaceful and tranquil, though during the hotter summer months I would imagine it may get a lot busier. The scenic walk is very beautiful indeed, worth the extra 20 minutes of walking, do not forget your camera. Another thing we enjoyed immensely was the ample terrace at our junior suite, offering maddeningly exhilarating moonlit evening views of the sea through the trees. We had stayed at a number of high-end hotels in the Mediterranean, of which we have fond memories, but this is one to which we would definitely want to come back soon.
One of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed at. Very luxurious but totally unpretentious and relaxing. Awesome and friendly service at all restaurants and pool. Food at the casual restaurant was delicious if a bit pricey. And kids liked it too. The 3 hr lunch by the pool overlooking the sea was truly decadent. One of the best meals on our trip to Spain. On top of everything we're beautiful views, lovely beach and a scenic cliff side walk. A truly lovely place that all family members will love. HighLy recommend.
Stayed for 3 nights as a birthday treat and it was outstanding. The hotel is beautiful and has amazing grounds, including a beautiful terrace for breakfast, which makes you instantly feel like you are in a peaceful place away from civilization. The pool is a true gem with sweeping views of the bay and an old school luxury vibe, and it's a short walk down to the sea and a public beach which is perfect for fish and urchin spotting. We had dinner at the Romain Fornell restaurant one night and the tasting menu was very good. A great aspect of the hotel as well was the great service both from the reception staff (very accommodating with late check-in and check-out time) and the restaurant/bar staff. The perfect place for a relaxing Mediterranean week-end.
The moment you get here you feel relaxed and pampered. The toiletries are luxurious. The drinks served in beautiful glasses and food presented on gorgeous china. The food was delicious from breakfast breads and home made jams to dinner prepared by a famous Michelin star chef. . Everything is done with perfection and class. Very friendly and helpful staff too. The location and grounds are the most beautiful I have ever experienced. Close to everything in walking distance.
My husband and I stay at Hostal de La Gavina and it was wonderful. We found the hotel staff to be very helpful and fun to talk to. The walk along the trail on the beach was beautiful and fun to do on two occasions. Our room was lovely... a bit larger with the sitting area and deck with a view of the ocean over the trees. The view was a bit farther than I expected but still enjoyable. Perhaps the only negative was the price of the food and drinks at the bar.... other than that I found our stay to be fantastic and would go again.
This is a beautiful old hotel. You really do feel like you are stepping back into time! Pool is amazing and had one of the best meals ever at the Candlelight restaurant. Staff super accommodating! It is old, so the walls or more specifically the "adjoining" doors between rooms are thin. We could clearly hear the people next to us when in the hall/bathroom. Didn't bother us, as everything else was pretty fantastic!
This place is a throwback to the days of elegant vacationing... it exudes class and refinement. The grounds are beautiful. The facilities extensive. The cliff walk along the beach is wonderful. We had a delightful dinner at Candlelight. The hotel restaurant and enjoyed our morning breakfast on the terrace. We would return again. Our room was s suite with a large balcony overlooking the sea. The furnishings are old world elegant. If you like ultra modern this might bother you. The bathroom was very modern and the rain shower awesome. My favorite part of the room was the closet wall with beautiful inlay in the doors and skeleton keys to lock the closet doors. Thank you for a lovely stay
We love the staff, atmosphere, amenities, and beautiful location of the Hostel La Gavina! I describe our many stays there as a step back in time to a more glamorous era of grace, serenity, style and service.
Perfect location, clean sea, pine trees and freshest air. Lots of restaurants with delicious and fresh food and extensive wine lists around. Great swimming pool area with a superb place for lunch. Perfect for swimming, walking around, cycling around (we did one to Girona).
