This was our first stop after the TGV ride. It is not far from the station but a taxi ride guaranteed that we would arrive at the right place. The driver helped us into the hotel, I am disabled from walking easily by MS and appreciated the ease of access within the hotel, a lift which stopped right outside our room! The staff were all very friendly and professional, the restaurant food very good. The rooms are not large but well appointed. The Hotel is right in the middle of town so a visit to local bars/ restaurants is fairly easy. Pavements are wide and smooth but with high kerbs. The town is packed with Dali sculptures in the streets and a visit to the Dali museum is essential, and cheap if you are British!
We were two couples celebrating a birthday. We took the 20 euros menu and it was fine. It's nice to be in a restaurant with an old-fashioned decoration. The food and the service were good but the wine was a bit expensive.
Just spent one night here to visit the Dali museum. It's very comfortable and perfectly situated, being just a stone's throw from the museum and central. Try to get a look at what they call The Cellar, which is where Dali hung out. We didn't try their breakfast, but that's easy enough to find nearby, even at 7am. For those of you arriving/departing from Figueres Vilafant train station, the hotel is an easy 20 minute walk from there, or there are taxis. There's also a good little car hire company at FV train station called Auto Rent.
Clean room with a nice bathroom. A bit modern design. The staff does not speak much, but wasn't any problem. Could have been a little bit more kind, or a smile or something... The breakfast was good quality food, especially the cheese, but nothing hot like eggs of sausages. Hidden cost: parking for 15€. It's a safe place, you can leave the car on the streets, however it is not easy to find a free spot. We went in low season, for a reasonable price. It think it worth the price. Very good location! It would have been nice to have the breakfast in the nice classic design restaurant.
My wife and I visited Figueres for a 4 day break in March. We finally got to Figueres after 3 hours on a coach but as soon as we arrived we realised what a beautiful city Figueres is and still very much Spanish. We were staying at the Hotel Duran where we could visit the Salvador Dali museum which was 300 yards away. On arrival at the hotel we were greated with a very nice lobby and the nicest lady on reception you could ever wish to meet she really went out of her way for us from finding me train times to making us coffee and arranging an ice pack sent to the room after my wife hurt her knee The other staff were also amazing one carried breakfast to the room The room is spotless cleaned everyday and the hotel is a perfect location in the most beautiful city of Figueres I really can't say enough good things about this place with the Dali twist on it the place is def a real visit just stunning You really have to go but make sure this is the hotel you stay in and only 55 mins into Barcelona by fast train
The hotel is very simple, nice and very well run. The room was small, simple, cozy and spotless. The food at the restaurant was fantastic. The restaurant has a traditional Spanish style decor but the food itself was very sophisticated and hearty at the same time. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. The parking was not great, though.
Beautiful hotel very well situated in the middle of Figueres. We were able to avoid the queue at the Dali museum by buying the tickets in advance at reception. Dinner was very special in the exquisite dining room where the food was excellent and the service impeccable. The rooms were well appointed, wonderful walk in shower and comfortable bed.
After a full day of travel and a visit to the nearby hospital for work purposes, my colleague and I walked into the Duran. First hotel of our search for a place to stay that night. Within a few minutes after entering the lobby we were on our way in the elevator. Two rooms for one night, including breakfast, for a very agreeable price. Behind my door I found an elegant and quiet room, contemporary decorated in peaceful earth tones. Utterly clean bathroom and a bed in which I woke up the next morning wishing I could take it home. Breakfast was beyond expectation, with toast toasted à la minute, crispy croissants, pains au chocolat and other breads, different Spanish fresh cheeses and Gouda, cooked and sliced meats, freshly cut and whole fruits and cereals to mix with cool yoghurt. An impressive Nespresso machine offered aromatic morning coffee in three intensities. Generous choice of teas too, among which Chai-spiced Ceylon that tasted especially lovely. Soy and even almond milk flanked the one squeezed from cows. Upon leaving my room for check-out I thought with some regret: leave the bed, take the brochure.
For the sixth time I ended up staying here in a hotel that was frequented by Dali for his everyday lunches, dinners parties and numerous encounters with the best, Catalan kitchen has to offer. So refined, tasteful and elegantly presented. The Duran family, including grandfather as living witness of these visits, will welcome you warmhearted and allow you to see and read some of the unique correspondence on the food and atmosphere Dali so much appreciated. Many unseen pictures of this acclaimed artist showing him how he was when "not" painting or sculpting.... a must do whenever you are in or even out of the area as we drove 1300km just to enjoy this again, every year. Ps: save some space for desert! Sooooooo good.
I loved my stay at the Hotel Duran. The town of Figueres is quite charming and it was fun to stay in a hotel with such pride in it's connection to it's hometown hero, Salvador Dali. I stayed one night and spent most of my time relaxing in the luxurious bed. After sleeping in hostels and on planes and trains, that big bed felt like heaven. My room was very nice and my shower felt amazing. I was impressed with the quality of the hotel given the low price. I chose to have dinner downstairs in their formal restaurant. Dali was a customer there and it was a fun meal. The Catalan food is very good and the formal service is old world and very professional. It was an experience and it didn't break my wallet. I'm quite glad I decided to stay in the hotel for supper. I also got breakfast included in my stay. They provided guests with quite a large spread of cheeses, meats, hot drinks, yogurts, pastries etc. I was glad to have a big breakfast before heading off to the Dali Museum for a few hours. Thank you to the staff of the Hotel Duran for taking such nice care of me and thank you for one of the best night's sleep I've ever had. I had a great time 'Dali-ing it up' in his hometown and think Hotel Duran is a necessary stop for any fellow Dali-lover.
