I had read some of the poor reviews and had a few worries before I arrived. What I found surpassed even my wildest hopes. Everything about the place is excellent. The rooms and showers particularly are great. The bar area is great. The restaurant is superb. I had booked half-board and was worried that a choice of three from the menu might be restrictive. The choice was varied and the food was exceptional. Breakfasts were excellent. The staff from reception to cleaners to waiters were welcoming, smiling and could not be more helpful. Overall, it was the best hotel I've been to in a good while.
Now that the internet has become bearable to work with I can leave a review. In the last week I have suffered from: No cold water No hot water A 24hr internet outage An unannounced planned power-cut for 8hrs, losing all my work. Throughout my 3 week stay the internet has barely been useable, trying to order room service has taken over an hour, laundry has been late, the staff beyond unhelpful. It is a truly woeful hotel and I couldn't recommend staying anywhere else more.
Been staying in this hotel for our summer holidays for the last 5 years and we have never been disappointed. Lovely rooms, good service. The restaurant is nice but pricey. We tend to stay b&b only. I would say you need a car to stay here. It's location is fairly remote. We drive to Torroella de Montgri or L'Estartit for dinner each night. The hotel menu doesn't seem to change very often so the food,including breakfast can become monotonous but that's probably the same for every hotel. I would like to see ice machines available either in rooms or the corridors as the minibar fridge isn't very cold. Free WiFi can be intermittent, for those trying to get some work done this can be frustrating but otherwise we love this hotel. 😊
Every word can't be enough to express this hotel can offer. Out and indoor pool , gym (also true non of static bicycles work), nice staff, cute rooms with hairdryer, iron , balcony and all amenities expected too. It deserves a try even golf is not your favourite play. If it is , there are awasome forests there to play all settled 100% relax warranted
The hotel brings you to holiday atmosphere with right mix of everything: silence and beautiful nature, golf, swimming pool and good restaurant. Friendly staff and well-managed facilities. 10 minutes by car to the sea and small town with many restaurants and shops. Rooms are big and it was so nice to seat with the wine and snacks on the balcony in the evening! We decided to come back next year, and for our kids the combination of nature, modern rooms and proximity to the sea was really something special!
I was moved to this hotel as my original booking had overbooked so they put me nearby. I was excited as I thought this would be a sophisticated hotel with lots of amenities (given the Hotel name and the fact that it deems itself a golf resort and spa). It was a HUGE disappointment. The reception staff were rude and unhelpful when I turned up after little sleep and a long drive. I am a Coeliac and lactose intolerant. I advised the hotel but the only food available to me was Gluten Free bread. Hilton can do better than that, surely? There is only one restaurant (or a café by the golf course which is not connected to the hotel). The menu is extremely limited. There are no facilities by the side of the swimming pool so quite impractical for families with children. It is a bit in the middle of nowhere, which is great if the hotel is great. But it wasn't. One waitress in the restaurant really went out of her way to help me. The room was fine. Big bath and nice towels. But the bed was possibly the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on. In all honesty, Hilton can do better. Much better. It is a weekend I want to forget!
there is a 10€ extra charge to order room service. Even if you order a 5€ dessert. Besides being to me not at all Hilton experience, it ISN´T written anywhere. Neither on the room menu nor in the hotel information. And above all, the most disappointment part is how front desk and management treat you when you complain. they completely ignore that their job is thanks to our business. they made me feel I had to ask permission for everything. Never coming anymore to this one.
First off we are not golfers so Mable to express any views concerning Golf. However we are travellers and sightseers and found this hotel ideally located to go both North to see Roses, Cap de Creus national park, including Cadaques and Parc Natural dels Aiguamolls and South to see Begur, Tamariu, Llafranc and Calella de Palafrugell. This hotel is set in lovely surroundings with the breakfast/dining terrace adjacent to the golf course lawns, where we at both breakfast and dinner al fresco. The staff just could not have been more friendly or helpful, this includes the two different receptionist we dealt with, the bar staff, the waiters/waitress and a special mention to Mohammed the maitre de, who kept everything running smoothly and discreetly advised staff on what to do next to ensure others and ourselves every need was met and that we could find no fault. The food was just as we requested, the steak being slight too much for my partner. Both meals were delicious and so far removed from the tourist food that appears to almost have become acceptable in many resorts that we were very pleased to be staying inland away from someone trying to sell me a Rose or fake watch....... The room was spacious, with two large twin beds, air con and all the normal amenities, the door to the room was like a safe room door as was the patio door leading to the terrace, not for any reason so I understand other than they have some very strong winds/storms at times but it did make you feel very secure all the same. The bathroom was perfect although I did notice there was no bath plug. There is an underground car park should you wish to leave the car during the heat of the day, plenty of bird life to watch indulging in the small golf course lakes a swimming pool, spa and fitness centre. Breakfast was just what most over indulgent people want, cakes, pastries, white breads, granary bread, cereals, yogurts, eggs, bacon, frankfurters, fruit, cheese, cold meats etc etc The coffee was from a machine but being tea drinkers we just utilised the hot water and milk available. All in all they lived up to there name and the staff made it an honour to stay!
My wife and I have been holidaying in this area of the Costa Brava for over 30 years with family and friends, and having recently taken up golf decided to try out the local courses. The Dbl Tree proved a perfect base for 4 rounds over a 5 day stay. The hotel is ideally situated in the middle of 2 courses. Ample parking, both open air and underground was available for our hire car, which we left with our golf gear in the boot. The hotel was modern, clean, comfortable and the staff welcoming. All rooms are spacious with balconies and floor to ceiling sliding doors. The air conditioning worked a treat when we finally worked it out - it sensibly turns off if the patio door is left open. The restaurant for breakfast and lunch / evening meal was on the ground floor, with the option for eating inside or on the shaded patio which overlooks the course. The only problem we have with outside dining in Spain in general is that smoking is permitted. We enjoyed the hotel food, but knowing the surrounding area visited some of the many excellent local restuarants. Both courses are well looked after and in very good condition, expecially considering the heat wave the Cosat Brava has been experiencing. We preferred the Parkland course over the "Links" - I put the latter in quotations because it is not really a links course as I understand it - there is too much water and heavy rough for our limited abilities. Both courses are flat so we were happy to hire pull trolleys at 4.5 euro each. Electric trollys and buggies are available, but not really needed. On our first day we played as a two-ball, but on subsequent days were asked to play with other golfers. This was fine by us, and had the great experience on the final round of playing with a local professional (he was accompanying a player to give on-course lessons) and seeing how the game should be played. The hotel and golf clubhouse are side-by-side and appear to enjoy a symbiotic relationship. We found the clubhouse had better light lunch options, and once again you could sit either inside or outside on its patio. The hotel's large outdoor swimming pool is located just behind the clubhouse, and has (free) sunbeds, trees for shade, showers etc. Just the ticket after a morning's golf, a jug of Sangria and some tapas! All in all we had a wonderful stay at the Dbl Tree & Spa Emporda (don't ask me about the Spa bit - it is an alien world to us!) . The proof of how good the stay was is that after 4 rounds of golf my wife and I were still on speaking terms, and we plan to return later this year.
We’re a family of three traveling full-time, mostly staying in hotels and, when possible, in Hilton properties. Being Diamond members we want to share with others in the same situation on the highs and low of the various Hilton properties we stay in. In 2016, we lived in hotels 100% of the days of which 100 or so nights in almost 30 different Hilton properties spread across Europe, the Middle East, Asia and North America. We earned an extension of our Hilton Diamond status already after the firsts three months of 2017 - we pay for everything ourselves and are not affiliated with Hilton in any way but feel that, since we spend so much, we might help Hilton stay good where they are good or improve, where needed, by sharing our experiences. The location of this hotel is lovely! It is surrounded by beautiful countryside, stunning views and lovely fresh air and wonderful excursions all round. Too bad the hotel itself is sub par. The first things that greets guests broken and battered Hilton sign (please see photos) and then the reception... the first experience of the reception is of total clutter and mayhem stacked up against the large glass section that makes up the front of the hotel (again, see photos). This entire things feel like a family hotel that was inherited by a distant cousin with no interest in or aptitude for running a hotel, or any kind of establishment. There’s something to be said about first impressions and, in this case it was a taste of what was to come. The rooms are quite worn and need a good cleaning. The rooms are worn, but large. The beds are hard and uncomfortable. The towels need an updating, and they are no longer white. The breakfast room has a lovely terrace with stunning views. To bad they insisted on mowing the golf course EVERY SINGLE MORNING either waking all guests or ruining breakfast with the noise. Breakfast was pretty sad. No coffee drinks at all, except cold black coffee. All other drinks were extra (but still from a machine). They had no diamond perks at all: no drinks, no snacks, no water, no upgrade nothing. The reception was disgusting, messy and unwelcoming, the entrance was dirty with cigarette bust on the floor. Seriously, people, clean the place up! How hard can it be?
