The hotel is lovely and so are all the staff so top marks there. My only complaint was the food, its OK at first then you realize its quite plain, cold and repeadative. Its a shame because before the hotel was revamped the food was lovely ? I think we can see where the cut backs have made for this hotels upgrade.
Me and my boyfriend stayed in this hotel Monday to Friday in October and we loved it! Rooms were clean and tidy, the whole hotel had a nice, clean and modern look to it. we stayed bed and breakfast and the breakfast was basic but always nice and plenty of choice. Drinks were lovely from the bar and the staff were always so nice and friendly too. Both pools were nice even though they were a tad cold! But the sunbathing area above the pools is a great place out of the way for sunbathing! Only downside to the rooms is that the bathroom was inside of the room and the only thing between the toilet and the rest of the room was a glass door, could be a tad awkward for some people! Don’t know if all rooms are the same or just a few! But the rooms were cleaned everyday and I couldn’t fault the place!
The hotel has just had a complete makeover and is now four star. It is very comfortable and the staff are all so helpful and friendly. The food is well-cooked but repetitive and often lukewarm. You would have to like pork a lot to survive here! The hotel is situated in the main shopping street, but separated from the gritty sand beach by a railway line, so not a very scenic position. The pool is nice, if on the small side, but the area is overlooked by a block of holiday flats with noisy inhabitants. Overall, it is good value for money.
Had a great time last week at this hotel on a Shearings coach holiday. The food was good and although not as extensive as some buffets on All Inclusive I have seen, there was always something great on the menu. I love fish and was happy with the choices. The restaurant staff were very pleasant and attentive and brought a choice of wine or water to the table. The bar staff were amazing - especially Even, Antonio and Hassan (Antonio, I am the one with the blue nails!!!) - you could go to the bar or they came round to take orders frequently - I have never seen anyone work so hard. They were very friendly too. The cocktail menu on All Inclusive is large - 22 in total included of which 4 were non alcoholic - all very good. They even had some premium drinks on the All Inclusive including Baileys. Entertainment was low key some nights and really lively on others - they had International dancers, flamenco and karaoke when I was there. Bedrooms were exactly as in the brochure - standard rooms were more than adequate - I had room 238 which overlooked the garden ad opposite another hotel - it was incredibly quiet at night and the balcony got the sun in the afternoon. The pool area was nice but the pool was too cold for me - but its was October! I did expect the upper 'relax' pool to be a warm jacuzzi - it wasn't and was just as cold as the lower pool! The location of the hotel - beach is accessed via subway under railway line (no noise from trans at night BTW as they stop running) - shops are all around with main pedestrianised street and railway station 10 minutes walk away. If you turn right out of hotel, that will take you to Santa Susanna - lovely area and where you can get mini train to take you up in hills over Malgrat for 4.70 euros return. All in all, would definitely recommend this hotel
My wife and myself stayed here previously, and we thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of the Hotel, this time we found the food at all Meals including Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner very poor quality and selection with the one exception the salads were reasonable most of the time, it appears that although the Hotel has been upgraded to a Spanish 4*, the food has suffered and been down graded to a 2* Spanish. One of the areas that were very poor was the soups, in quality and selection, one of the Vegetable Soups which claimed to be a Gluten Free Soup was on offer every day during our stay of six days, and certainly looked like it. The Meats on offer and being cooked on a serve as you go basis was mainly very tough and chewey and in-edible. This was such a shame from our point of view as the Food in any Hotel we stay in around the World and we have travelled 7 times around the World, is one of the 3 points that we look for in any Hotel of any substance, the first being the room, the second the surroundings, and thirdly the food in the Restaurant, the Sumus Hotel Monteplaya certainly did not achieve this on the Food Aspect.
This was our fourth visit and once again we had a great time. Hotel been refurbished and is now adults only. It is extremely clean & well looked after, including the grounds and pool area. The staff, many we have seen before, we're very friendly and worked extremely hard. The restaurant was running much more smoothly than previous years and has been very well refurbished. One tiny comment, the food! Breakfast was fine, omelettes, croissants etc but the main evening meal was very repetitive and sometimes not very well cooked or presented. I know it's not done so much abroad but we did find hottish plates at the grill section, front of room, occasionally! The rest of our holiday was lovely and all being well we'll be back next year!
My friend and I have just returned from a Shearings holiday at this hotel and we were highly impressed! The location was perfect, on the sea front and through a discreet archway inbetween shops. This led to an attractive terraced area with a pool, jacuzzi and solarium. Recently refurbished and adults only, everywhere is stylish and immaculate. We particularly loved the huge walk-in shower! But even better was the friendliness and professionalism of all the staff. The only tiny thing I would change would be to have fresh orange juice and coffee for breakfast, but apart from that, perfect!
Excellent hotel, excellent staff who Wait on you all the time, Food lots of choice don't listen to moaners, Fish diffent types, Meat pork, steak, lamb, chicken, If you are all inclusive the drink is very good bottles of San Miguel with your food, loads of different wines, bottled orange lemonade and water all served at your diner table for you. In the bar at night time you don't queue up just give your card order your drink they bring it to you. Very good 10 nights holiday The other good thing no kids very peaceful.
Sumus Monteplaya is a lovely hotel, the staff were brilliant from the manager Oscar to the lovely chambermaids to the restaurant staff who were really helpful. The food was great, normally we don't bother with eating at hotels but we were glad we did. I can't praise the staff enough, it was our first visit but we will visit again. Close to the station so if the weather's not good you can get about very easily, we opted for the beach rather than the pool as it's only a few minutes away. I would recommend this hotel, no kids but it made a nice change.
Room very good. Clean throughout hotel. Not so big you get lost, not too small so you don't feel too noticeable. Food is adequate with plenty of choice. Staff very friendly and helpful. However, I was not impressed with their handling of a theft from my friends room. Their assumption was that it was my friend that had "lost" her purse and gave little sympathy or support. Not resolved (not that it was expected) but some kindness and sympathy would have been good. Shearings reps weren't any better..
