Hotel Sunway Playa Golf & Spa Sitges4.0 out of 5.0

Great hotel on the beach at the far end of Sitges. Very helpful staff. We had a one room suite with a balcony and full kitchen. Plenty of room and very clean. We overlooked the golf course and ocean--how much more could you ask for. Wonderful pool area and excellent breakfast. The restaurant gets mixed reviews. The couple we joined there had dined the prior evening. Her chicken was great and his seafood was mediocre at best. Don't despair--plenty of great restaurants in Sitges, especially in the Port area. We took the small train, which starts and finishes at the front door of the hotel, to get back and forth to the center of town. Very convenient. Parking available in the basement and full spa services available.
Had a large apartment with views of sea and golf course, very pleasant setting. Hotel is exactly 20 minutes walk to centre of Sitges but 3 mins to very nice beaches. All a bit 1980's decor wise, but clean and reasonable price for Sitges. Free Wifi, safe and in room kettle which some charge for. Reception staff don't act like hotel staff, check in was OK, but then not once over the 5 days there did any staff look up from the desk as we left or entered and smile or say hello, even when there are 4 of them standing there doing nothing they look down at the desk rather than greet customers, they could learn from the maids and restaurant staff who are very friendly and welcoming.
Sunway was so much better than I expected. After reading the reviews I was nervous about our last minute booking but I didn't need to be. Brilliant sea view apartment. Very clean and really handy kitchenette and washing machine. Went home with clean clothes! The mattress needs replacing. It was so uncomfortable and the springs had completely gone and made a terrible noise when you rolled over! Definitely not for the very amorous types or those with children! They may never speak to you again! Pools great, lifeguard Augustine was just fabulous. He really cares about everyone's safety and gives the children a real boost when he tells them how good they are. Such a lovely guy who works very hard. An asset to Sunway. Road train into Sitges was great too. Slow service in restaurants but we found that to be the case in many places. Going to Sitges in the last week of August is a must. The festival is fabulous!
Went here for a girlie weekend. Have a wonderful apartment with sea view one side and overlooking the pool on the other. Beautiful modern apartment. Breakfast is to die for. Wonderful range of fruit, meats, breads, hot food and a chef to cook fresh eggs, crepes, waffles etc. Chocolate fountain and champagne if you fancy it.... Not for someone on a diet !! Staff lovely. Italian restaurant lovely - beautiful pizza's and salads. Lovely touch getting the free bikes. Couldn't fault it in any way. Thanks for a wonderful stay.
Brilliant views and location. We had a good week here. Would recommend sitges for a break. Apartment was comfortable and clean fantastic balcony with superb views. Brilliant wifi connection We ate in the family restaurant and the pizza restaurant. Both felt quite expensive but that could just be value of pound. The family restaurant was a bit lacking in choice for vegetarians. Cooking in apartment was very limited. The mini market was very useful. Apartment was clean and comfortable. More a 3.5. Not quite a 4.
I've stayed at this hotel two times, both one week, and both with small children. This is the best view you'll get in Sitges! The balcony view is worth the money alone. But don't ever eat at the hotel restaurant. The food is awful.. Even the tapas is horrible.
We stayed for 10 nights in a seaview facing apartment. Hotel is located at the end of the main walkway, right on the seafront. It's a 2.2km walk from the town centre (church square). The location for us was perfect, as it wasn't in the centre of all the busy bars, but was within easy distance to reach them. It's located on the very end of the beaches, and therefore it's pretty quiet. Lovely hotel with welcoming staff and very clean and spacious public areas. Apartment was a good size with all needed amenities and a nice comfy bed. The balcony overlooked the sea and the golf course (we paid extra for a seaview). If it had been overlooking the pool, then it may have been a bit noisy, but this location was very private and calming. We were room only (as there are cooking amenities in the room) and made daily use of the minimart on site. Really good value and great range of foods. There's freshly baked bread, hot on the shelves several times a day. There's two swimming pools. We found that the sun hit the main pool in the morning and the secondary pool in the afternoon. Never a problem finding sunbeds. We didn't eat at the hotel, but made daily use of the hotel bar, which catches the sun at lunchtime and has decently priced beers and wines. A fantastic bonus was the use of complimentary bikes for the entire duration of our stay. Brilliantly simple to bike to the many beaches which are just a stones throw from the hotel. The hotel was lovely, and Sitges is a wonderful destination. All in all a really enjoyable stay and we would definitely book again.
As per other reviews this was a great hotel for a family holiday. Sited right at the far end of Sitges which meant the nearest beach was the quietest in the resort but also meant a 30 minute (lovely) walk along the promenade. Seemed to be a real mix of nationalities that we really liked Our junior suite had great sea views and was really comfortable. The food was good, agree with others about breakfast being a really good option to take given its range and the lack of alternatives directly. Staff were in the main really excellent and helpful.
We were very pleased with the room having booked a suite with sea view rather than the family apartment option. The suites have clearly been recently updated and were laid out very well with good quality furnishings and were spacious including a kitchen with washing machine which with 2 small boys was very useful. There is a reasonably priced onsite mini market which although small has a good choice - including a gluten free section, which is also reflected with hotels breakfast option which had a great choice including made to order omelettes along with a gain a gluten free section. The hotel is right at the other end from town so it is a walk or better still they have loads of FREE bikes which we were given for the week so no problem sorting out hire on a daily basis you are simply given the keys for your stay and they have size appropriate bikes for the kids as well as workshop where they can make adjustments for you. Helmets were provided for the children which surprised u but we did take our own with us anyway. All the staff were very good, we didn't have the warmest of welcome in one of the restaurants upon arrival as we arrived early, i have to say i did think i was going to regret the choice but it was a one off and it transpired the waiter was waiting on other staff and was clearly under a lot of pressure which was quickly resolved and all other service was excellent.
We stayed in an apartment overlooking the pool with our 14 and 11 year old children sleeping on the sofa bed. We paid to include breakfast and would definitely recommend this option because it has a huge choice from the buffet and sets you up for the day ahead. Light lunch in the apartment and then out for food at night. Great location away from the city centre but close enough for easy access. Two lovely pools (with no sunbed rush in the morning!), free pool towels, hot tub, gym on the top floor, good mini market, free bikes to cycle into Sitges - about 10 mins ride - and near to the beach. The only niggly negatives were the three on site restaurants, especially the ridiculously overpriced Acqua, all let down by poor service. Hotel reception marginally better (double check when you book a taxi). The best staff on site were the upbeat lifeguard who did his best to make sure people had a good time, and the army of cleaning ladies, always giving a warm welcome. Tip would be pay for breakfast, mini market for snack lunch stuff and eat out in Sitges (Beach House, SoCa and El Santo all very good) Sitges is perfect for a chilled holiday with easy access to Barcelona for a day trip (Sagrada Familia is quite overwhelming in its beauty, Park Güell, Casa Battlo and St. Josep La Boqueria market are all recommended) Hotel Sunway would get 5 out of 5 from us if they could get the restaurants and service right, but we would definitely recommend it and would come back ourselves.
