arrived at this hotel xmas eve just in time for evening meal including my friend & myself the total numberof guests partaking ofthe meal was 6, only staff member in dining room was a very young trainee waiter who was lovely & really tried his best but due to the standard of the food could not keep up with the complaints he had to keep going to reception for advice which resulted in a visit from the guy from the desk apologising for him.we returned to our room which was freezing but we thought bear with it it will warm up it didnt, next morning xmas day 1 of our fellow guests came 2 our room to tell us breakfast was finishing at 9 am not 10 am as was stated staff could not be bothered to notify us. went out for the day thinking it can only get better.on return to hotel went into bar for a drink was so cold we did not stay for a second drink went up to our room hoping for warmth but were out of luck, went down to reception to ask for a room change as we could not stand another night of freezing took us to see another room which was no better were told he had no other rooms.things just went from bad to worse if that was possible xmas day evening meal was shocking the answer to everything was i will put it in microwave some food cannot be reheated over & over we decided we werre not taking the risk of food poisoning.we left the next day 2 days earlier than we should have the chap on reception said the hotel had recently changed hands & owners were not prepared to spend money on repairs the boiler was not working properly thats why hotel was so cold.our heartfelt sympathy was for the staff who had to cope with the complaints thanks for trying lads
When we got there the pool and garden area was closed, but the receptionist did not mention it. The room was basic, bathroom could have been better and I could get decent wifi only downstairs. Breakfast was ok. The balcony door did not lock properly. No safe in the room. It's located in a residential area, not close to the beach and not close to town either.
Booked last minute after our flight was cancelled. Check in was easy, reception staff were always friendly and polite. The hotel is small and old fashioned-style but lovely. The room was clean and nicely styled with a massive balcony. Bathroom was sufficient. The bed was comfortable and there is loads of storage. The hotel offers three courses and a drink for 12€ for dinner. The meal was ok. Asked for a glass of wine with dinner and a bottle was left on the table. We drank it all with dinner and thought we’d be charged but we were not so that was nice. Breakfast was 8€ for buffet style. Bit of a let down for the cooked food. It was all cold and hot dog sausages not real ones. Good variety of pastries, fruit and yogurt. Pool area could do with upgrading and the gardens need tidying. Not much close by. Beach 15 minute walk away and another 15 minutes along the front to get into a busier area with a couple of shops and restaurants. Ideal hotel for a short break to Barcelona.
This hotel is off the beaten track. Everyone who works there is very friendly and helpful. We just returned from a 5 day break yesterday 5th August. The hotel has great facilities, nice dining room, clean pool, plenty of deck chairs (as it was quite quiet) there were only 4 or 5 others at the pool whenever we went. There is a big canal that is used for water sports, a tennis club and Yoga centre just near the hotel and I think lots of the guests at our hotel used those facilities. Breakfast at the hotel was OK, it was the same every day buffet consisted of a selection of hams, Spanish chorizo, a couple of cheeses, yoghurt, loads of fruit, hot dogs and omelette, different types of croissants and breads. It was tasty but I would have loved it if they had churros and that it changed every day. Breakfast was 4 euros if you just have toast jam croissant and coffee and 8 euros for the buffet. The food was always topped up, coffees and teas delicious! They offer lunch and dinner there too but we ate out every day. We stayed in a twin bedded room, there was no kettle but we bought coffee and drinks from the little cafe that they had most drinks were 2 euro 50p, cava 10 euro a bottle, beer 2.50 Room service was perfect, beds comfortable, bathroom consisted of shower and bath, we got freshly made beds, fresh towels and toiletries every day whatever time you put the sign in the morning to clean it was cleaned. The beach was 20 minute walk, bus about 10 minutes, train about 25 minutes, there was also a great shopping centre, a village with lots of restaurants and bars. Sea was too rough to swim in but there were lots of kids just staying in the shallows. We went to an awesome paella restaurant in the village and also ate at 2 beach bars dreadful over priced food. Will try and write about the paella restaurant when I find their card. Casteldefells village was full of people it was lively but now over crowded, mainly Spanish people. From there you can get a train to Barcelona. The taxi from the airport cost us 29 euro and took 15 minutes. We will definitely go again because service was good and we like quiet places.
Pleasant hotel in good location for airport, beach and public transport. Good swimming pool, very good buffet breakfast, lunch/dinner also available at reasonable prices. Just about 3-star but nearer 2 than 4.
No complaints here. Large room, with good service, helpful people and nice ac. What else? It is just far away from everything so you need a car or to use taxis. I liked the dinner and the breakfast was ok.
It's very easy to fall into the trap of "the tap was dripping" or "breakfast was cold" when reviewing a hotel and to be clear the breakfast wasn't cold and the tap wasn't dripping, but if you're looking for glass and steel super modern accommodation the Canal Olympic isn't for you. On the other hand if you're looking for a quaint, quirky, relaxed stay, in comfortable clean beds, with friendly helpful staff, this delivers. Our room (disabled, with wet room) literally 2 metres from the lift on the first floor was lovely. Nice balcony, absolutely top (20ish meg) wifi throughout the hotel, loads of breakfast (we ate out for lunch/evening meals), secure parking and quiet surroundings. Of course there are a few downers, not really enough surface space in the room to empty your pockets and the pool was decidedly murky (though I think that's a seasonal thing) - but even this hardy northern Brit wouldn't consider outdoor swimming in march so the pool being closed was a bit moot. On the whole though strongly recommended if you don't want the blandness of the local Holiday Inn Express or similar and prefer more local colour.
They first gave us twin beds. But the friendly staff changed it right away. The terrasse was a lovely surprise in the new room. It was quiet for a night in february. Free parking for a change. Many restaurants around if you have a car.
The a/c was no working, I told the rude lady front desk to move me to another room, she says no, Well I want go to another Hotel, she say no because my money is no refundable, really, no accommodations, Well I sleep with the window open and I left the day after and call my credit card, I got my money back, never never in this Hotel.
I stayed here for the week in September. Rooms all very close to each other, room staff started cleaning the rooms at 7am, dragging bed around. Staff in reception all very cheerful. I found shops/restarants/train station all too far away, a good 20m walk, by the time I got anywhere, I needed a shower. The food was not very good at all other than the price. A set menu, 3 choices for each course. The garden to relax in was more of a yard, where I got eaten alive by mosquitos, I would not recommend this hotel or stay here again
