We booked this holiday with Ferris coaches on one of their credit crunchers. Ferris were absolutely fine and will de f go with them again but not on a credit cruncher. We went with them last May and booked into the Montapelia in Malgrat and it was fantastic. So was well pleased when we were told that we were going back to Malgrat but into the Planamar.we had passed this hotel many times and it looked ok. But that is where it ended looks can be deceiving the hotel is classed as 3 star but I wouldn't even give it a 1 it was very dated rooms so small and balcony not enough room for a table just managed to get 2 chairs on it if you opened the shutter doors staff were ok, food was very basic and the toaster never worked for the whole week we were there. The all inclusive is a complete waste of time only aloud certain things on the A I if you want a bottle of water you have to pay for it but you can have a glass of water free. WiFi is free for one hour in the whole of your stay if you want any more it will cost you 8 euros a day I paid this for the last three days but what a waste of money still didn't work and in the end the gave me two days money back. The only good thing about this hotel is the location it is situated right on the promenade opposite the beach. Will definitely go with Ferris coaches again but will avoid the H top hotel group
This is a cheap all inclusive hotel. But it's gone down hill, this was our 3rd time and the service has dropped, they seemed not to understand the meaning is service. The food standards ate even lower, seems they have been told to save money, not even olives on salad bar , in Spain where they are grown!!! The whole hotel needs a paint and deep clean
I booked an all inclusive holiday staying at the planamar in late May. Arrived late due to flight delays. On booking in with reception I was upgraded from a single room to a double overlooking the pool with a balcony above the restaurant. The room was clean and comfortable if not a little dated. The restaurant food was good with a wide variety of food. Never struggled to find something to eat. Bar staff were good if not a little unhappy at times. The wifi is not bad but is quite slow. Don't bother paying for it just use the one free hour per day. I had a very enjoyable weeks holiday meeting lots of new friends Recommended for families and couples. Remember this is not a five star hotel. It is cheap and cheerful
We have just returned from a week long family holiday at the Planamar. The hotel is dated and small but with a lovely, friendly atmosphere. The hotel grounds are clean, with a good-sized swimming pool. The staff work very hard and most of them are friendly and approachable. There was entertainment every day and evening, including shows, live music and quizzes. The rooms are small and basic but clean. However, the beds are very creaky and uncomfortable. The balconies are small and too close together, with not much privacy. It is the all-inclusive food that lets this hotel down. There is no variety at meal times and the food is of a poor quality. Snacks are disappointing and only served at certain times of the day but they are dried up leftovers from lunch and dinner. You have to pay extra at the bar for ice creams and snacks around the pool or in the evening, even though we paid all-inclusive! The area that the hotel is situated in is great. There are lots of shops, restaurants and bars along the main strip. There is a beautiful beach across the road, which stretches for miles. Overall, we had a fantastic holiday and we would recommend this hotel but not for all-inclusive.
Worst holiday ever, All inclusive what a joke ...... We ate in the restaurant once burgers out of a tin shocking ...... drinks flat, 20 euro to use gym ,10 euro to use sauna , 38euro for safe key and key to a fridge in room that doesn't work ,decor and furniture 30 years old what a complete rip off ..... and if you try and get a different drink they make feel like you are ripping them off ...... I won't be going back........
Okay we love Santa Susannah/Malgrat de Mar have been a few times stayed in a variety of different hotels and I have to say this is by far the worst we have stayed in! Needs a complete refurbishment if it is to compete with some of the other hotels in the area. We (myself and my 13 year old son) arrived late on a Saturday evening booked on a all inclusive basis; having been delayed we had 'missed' the evening sitting for food, but were told there were snacks available in the dining area, sliced meat, curled up cheese and a few over cooked 'chicken nuggets', we left and ate out. The rooms are dated and as another reviewer has said more like 'hostel' accommodation, I did on the evening we arrived request if we could be moved to another H-Top hotel I was even willing to pay any additional costs to do so. The beds are well worn, one pillow and sheets with cigarette burns in oh also we had extra guests by way of some ants! There was what looked like a fridge and a safe however the table they are built into was not secured to the wall and neither looked usable and were not offered to us at any extra cost. There is a small TV balanced on a wall bracket secured with a strap around to hold it in place, no remote available. The bathroom is SMALL, and again needs updating to the point were the enamel has actually worn of the bath! The balcony is not really useable as it only fits two chairs on and with the shutters you have to be like Houdini to get on there. Not overly keen on the 'locking' system of the doors to the balcony either just a simple hook and you can easily walked along the balconies to access other rooms if you wanted too...... Dining room is FAR TOO SMALL, I do not wish to have to queue for nearly 30 mins on some days just to be shown to a table, you then have to queue again in a line in order to actually get any food, then you have to queue again to get your drinks! Food was bland, repetitive and not very appetising. We only ate breakfast twice, lunch maybe 4 times and evening 5 times, so for all we were 'all inclusive' it is not really worth the money. If you have younger children say under 6/7 years old food wise it would be difficult as there are no real 'child friendly' options, yes there are chips and pasta but nothing that I would feel suitable for any child under that age. The card system to get drinks around the pool is okay certainly not ideal and again causes queues so not really sure why they use this system? The staff (apart from the older late shift man - very rude and ignorant) are nice and friendly and they work hard. The maids cleaned the room daily and we had clean towels everyday, the beds were made everyday but didn't have any change of bedding in the week we stayed here. The pool area again is small with sunbeds around the side no umbrellas though they are on the tables for the smokers, cant comment on the evening entertainment we went out most evenings. All told would I recommend staying here - no, not for us, there are plenty of other hotels nearby that beat this hands down for what you pay.
Booked this as a last minute get away all inclusive for my 40th. Not far from Girona Airport which was good, and right on the beach. Plus points - hotel was clean and had good showers and hot water. Outside areas pleasant and reception tried to be helpful. Bad points - food was the poorest quality and virtually inedible. Grey bony rabbit, watery chicken slices like pre packed ready meals, orange juice = instant type 2 diabetes. Coffee wasn't coffee. Cold meats greasy and all tasted the same. There was at least salad, fruit and toast and water to get us by till we got to a restaurant. Plastic half glasses for all inclusive drinks Rooms were tiny and more like hostel. Door security on the balcony was a metal latch into a hook, and considering you could walk from balcony to balcony not really adequate. 1 slither of a pillow, and blankets with fag burns in. 2 inch gaps under door to room and bathroom meaning absolutely no privacy, walls so thin you could hear toilet noises. Not a frill in sight. Absolutely no frills..... It was an ok base to go to Barcelona and to wash and change but had a campsite feel about it. Holiday was £560 for 2 all inclusive for 3 nights, and our flights were quite expensive so in all was a cheap break, and you get what you pay for! We had a good time but hotel desperately needed to be refurbished to a modern standard however basic and food definitely could be improved. We probably won't come back sadly.
We spent 7 days here with 4 kids food was very. Repetitive but decent if you like chips rooms where basic but clean and tidy hotel overall was clean entertainment at night was good overall decent. Pleasant staff
The hotel is dated but very clean. The reception and bar staff were friendly and the maids came everyday. However..... the food isn't great. We had a fussy teenager with us and had to eat out several times due to nothing nice for her and on 2 occasion us either. The room is a double but they squeezed in another bed making the room very cramped for the 3 of us but it was only a week. It's full of English, French, German and Spanish so a good mix of people and there is entertainment all the day through for kids then adults. The pool area is small however there are plenty of seats on the garden and the beautiful beach is literally 5 minutes walk away. Water world in Lorett De Mar is a great day out but €33 each but it has a free bus. Tickets can be bought at the hotel.
Great hotel. Rooms cleaned, fresh bedding, clean towels daily, Staff lovely, friendly and helpful. Close to beach and lots of shops. Free bus service to sister hotels where you can eat, drink and use facility's (book at reception previous day). Loved it. Senior, twenty something and three teens in our group. I have no idea why anyone could have a negative view of this hotel only that they paid for 3 star and wanted five..
