We stayed here for two nights, to celebrate my sisters wedding. It wouldn't be fair, or appropriate, for me to comment on the standard of my sisters wedding, so this review will be based on our experience of the hotel. Check in went smoothly, and our room was a decent size and nicely decorated. The bathroom was clean, and the shower decent. On our first night, we ate in the restaurant and the food was pretty good. Unfortunately, the gas went in the beer pump, and nobody at the hotel knew how to change it (!), so there were a couple of hours when no draught beer could be purchased! On returning to our room, it was absolutely freezing (and I don't normally feel the cold), and as I couldn't get the radiator to come on, I went down to reception. There was a sign saying that reception was only manned until 11pm, and in an emergency, there was a number to call (this was at 1045pm!). As I didn't deem it an emergency, we had a cold night. The choice at breakfast is very limited. I'm not a massive fry up fan, so was left with a choice of cereal and toast. Some pastries or fruit would have been appreciated. Service, however, was very good. I found the bar prices very reasonable, and the view from the restaurant is absolutely superb. On check out the next day, it was a little manic and nobody could establish if I'd paid or not (lucky for them, I'm an honest chap and told them I hadn't) All in all, this hotel has a lot of potential and only needs a little refinement to meet it. If I could have awarded it 3.5 stars, I would have.
Decided to stay here for my fiancé's birthday for a night, booked a double bed room with sea view but apon arriving in the room there was 2 single beds, and when I told the receptionist a mistake had been made and we requested a double bed she could not have been any ruder and less helpful, simply told me there was nothing she could do and to get on with it or go to another hotel basically, so me and my fiancé had to push two single beds (which were like sleeping on rocks) together which was the most awkward and uncomfortable night sleep ever. Stayed here last year and the quality of the hotel and staff was much higher, very disappointed this time around.
Stopped here for one night and was given a friendly welcome and a sea view room. The room was comfortable but in need of a little decoration and there was also a strong smell coming from the drain pipe in the shower cubical. A good lick of paint here and there would smarten up this very good hotel. As the chef was not on that evening we dined out at the Quintrell, North Way, about a ten minute drive away, who I would recommend for both quality of the food and ambience. The chef was in to cook a very good breakfast in the morning but the price was perhaps a little expensive. However the dining room was large, light and airy with views you will die for. There is a small gym and indoor swimming pool.
We had our wedding here in March and had the best day of our lives. Our room was of adequate size.We has a family room for the bridal party to get ready in. The food at our wedding breakfast was amazing and exactly what we had requested. The room for our wedding night had the most beautiful sea view room. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Lovely place to stay and we will be returning for our anniversary next year. Thank you to each and every one of you that made our big day so special.
Lovely place for a date night with the hubby. Sea view room was lovely. Could watch the sea all day long as the view is to die for. The restaurant and bar has a lovely ambience and panoramic views over the ocean and Porth Island. The food was delicious, the best creamed sweet potato I have ever tasted. Friendly staff and peaceful setting. Definitely recommend visiting even just for a drink in the bar and the view.
Worst Place ever. No kitchen sunday and monday. Hole Hotel in very bad condicion. This Hotel do Not desire the name Hotel. The best thing would be to tear Down the whole Place. The Ventilation Just outside the Windows Start verry noisi at 7 AM. The only good Thing, the good Situation near the see.
I'd like to say a massive thank you to all the staff at Glendorgal as we had a terrible stay the night before at a dreadful hotel down the road. Glendorgal is in the most stunning location, walking into the hotel it's bright, clean and smells amazing. We was in room 28, we didn't look over the sea but we couldn't have been happier. The room was huge, clean and modern. The bathroom was very clean and I loved the walk in shower. In the morning we went down for breakfast and was taking back by the views from the dinning room. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and the lady serving us couldn't have been more friendly. We will defiantly be staying here again. Thank you for a lovely weekend away.
We stayed here for 3 nights over the Easter weekend whist visiting family in the area. The hotel is lovely, we didn't have a sea view room but our room was nice, clean and modern, it also had a separate seating area with 2 comfy chairs. The location is fabulous, on the cliff top, overlooking porth bay, you can walk straight out onto and along the coastal paths. We ate in the restaurant one of the nights, couldn't fault it, reasonable prices, the food was good, breakfast was good, we thought bar prices very reasonable for a hotel and particularly enjoyed the Cornish lager. The staff are all very friendly, just ask if you want something nothing is too much trouble. We would and probably will definitely stay here again.
Myself and my husband stayed for 3 nights through booking.com and paid £282 just for the room no food included in the price. What a rip off, if it wasn't for the fact we were there for a family wedding we would have requested a refund and left. The only thing going for it is the stunning location if only they could their act together they could have a beautiful hotel. Our room was large, beige and grubby looking, plug sockets didn't work, drawers smelt of sick, curtain rail was hanging off the wall, curtains were hanging off the rail itself!, kettle was covered in dust, large gap between window and window frame, the tv remote batteries were held in place with a piece of card and sellotape, not enough tea and coffee sachets, and the shower didn't work properly, the plug in the sink didn't stay down and the tap leaked!!!! And according to other guests we had one of the better rooms... If you have problems with mobility this is not the hotel for you as it has steep slate steps at the front of the hotel and stairs to get everywhere within the hotel and rotten decking outside. Only one member of staff seems to know what they are doing and the others just seem annoyed and disgruntled. Also, one of the staff members let themselves into our room one afternoon and seemed very surprised that we were there! We had not requested maid service and they could have at least knocked before they came strolling in! All in all not a good place to stay. Next time we will stay at another hotel up the road.
Great location stunning views was the plus side. Room was large. Bad side . Hard creaky bed. No bedlinen for my sons bed had to ask for it. Not enough tea coffee in room. Shower would not warm up. Not enough towels had to pay extra 3.00 for each extra towel we wanted. Paid nearly 100 for room didnt get a breakfast included. Drinks very expensive. Wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. Staff were okay. Not happy
