We stayed here for one night and really enjoyed our stay. The room was comfortable and we enjoyed drinks in the bar and outside in the sunshine on the terrace. Breakfast was very good. We loved exploring Kinsale and the hotel is in a central position to be able to do this. Added advantage of a car park.
This hotel is perfectly located. On the water overlooking sailboats, yet adjacent to all the quaint shops and great restaurants in this picturesque and lively little town, I would highly recommend it. My room was small but very adequate and the whole atmosphere at the hotel, inside and out, was delightful. Would happily stay there again!
Our room was nice and a good size, and it faced the water. In the morning/afternoon the sun would shine and the room got quite warm. There is no AC, but a small fan was provided which doesn't make much of a difference. At night you have to leave the windows open, but the problem with that is noise. We arrived on a Saturday night when a wedding was going on. Good for them, but not so much for us....they kept us awake until 4am. The views from the front are nice, but you may be better off taking a back view. It could be much quieter and give you more sleep. We stayed for 3 nights and got little sleep. Nice staff, but not overly friendly or helpful. The bar area is loud and very lively throughout the weekend. Kinsale is worth seeing, but more tourists than what I remember.
Did the trick, easy walk into town, nice harbor views, clean rooms. Love Kinsale, so will be back but will try another Hotel to see if I can get a parking spot in order to simply check in. Actons parking lot is a joke
We went into Actons Hotel Kinsale for something to eat. Each place we went to seemed to be booked out or long delays. We were very happy we went into Actons Hotel around 8ish in the evening and ordered Fish and Chips. I think in all of my long life TG it was the best fish I have ever eaten. The batter was so lovely and light just superb. Just thinking about it is making me hungry at 9.12am in the morning. I would like to go back and stay at the Actons Hotel. Well done to everyone concerned, especially the chef on duty that night, which was the 25th July.
Myself and my boyfriend, along with another couple stayed in Actons for a weekend break to celebrate our college results. The hotel is situated in the heart of Kinsale, an ideal location if you want to experience all Kinsale has to offer. The staff in Actons offered amazing service. We were never left short and the fact we were 2 young couples was not an issue, which sometimes can be the case. The food we got was great, along with the atmosphere in the hotel we really enjoyed our experience. Will definitely be back!
At face value this is a reasonable choice. Central. Opposite Harbour. With all the conveniences (except AC.) But then you see what other TA reviewers have complained about. Repeatedly. Yet nothing has done to deal with these issues. Issues start when you arrive and realize there's absolutely nowhere to park. Leisure center users next door use the lot. (We also noted that day of a local event there they even blocked a lot of the slots with plastic bollards.) So you have your partner playing 'spot the vacating space' for 15 minutes before you get anywhere near checking in. Clueless situation and says nothing for how the hotel values its guests. Parking spaces for hotel guests only guys unless you want to become just the local community center. Staff friendly enough, housekeeping leave room spotless, hotel modern excepting the absence of AC. The weather makes it unlikely you'll ever need it though from what we experienced! Breakfast the saddest we had during the whole vacation. Modest continental options and cooked breakfast presumably had been sitting under a heat lamp waiting for variable period and was bland, dry, tasteless. Even managed to burn the toast. Then there was the day with no Internet connection "Oh, it will come up soon." (Great concern from reception staff as I'm trying to check in to a flight.) And no TV either. "No signal." but as no one was concerned I took the 'learned helplessness' approach as well and stopped asking. Finally resumed in the afternoon. Nope. Not my best choice for the vacation.
We recently stayed in the Actons Hotel and we had a lovely stay. The ladies at reception were very welcoming and looked after any queries that we had. The hotel Carpark is on the small side but we were fortunate enough to get a space. I did note that there is a lot of people coming and going so a space would probably become available in no time if you waited. The room we got was spacious and bright. It was spotlessly clean and there was fresh towels, soaps and bottles of water provided each day. Breakfast was nice with a good choice. For a cooked breakfast you ordered from a menu and it was lovely. They had a good selection of gluten free products too for those who require it. The breakfast staff were very friendly also. The only disappointment we had was with the bar staff. We did not find them friendly or welcoming apart from one girl whose name we did not get. Overall though we found the hotel to be a great spot and we will definitely return.
Established in 1946 the Acton is a hotel with history. Conveniently located in the main street of town and easy walking distance makes this a good location. Service was acceptable throughout our two night stay but the hotel is noisy. Loud creaking floorboards from above and below, noise from adjacent rooms, street noise (we were on the rear side) were all a bit much when trying to sleep. Breakfast selection was good, Service very friendly.
20th Wedding Anniversary :-) visit. Room was great with a view of the harbour, 2nd floor # 201 if you need specifics. Bathroom was spacious and the shower(s) great. Lounged a bit on the front lawn and drank wine from the Citroen van. Overall a great stay, highly recommended.
