Gorgeous hotel with lots of history (100 years). Beautiful location right on the Columbia River and close to Hood River downtown. Room was spacious, restaurant was excellent (only ate breakfast), and hotel grounds were beautiful. I will definitely stay there again. (Hint: Book directly with the hotel. Orbitz charged an extra $20 fee).

The location of the property and the landscape around the property are superior. It is beautiful and fun to walk around the property even on a rainy morning. The room itself is clean and nice and the hotel is well preserved. We overlooked no microwave in the room when booking and that would have been very handy to have had for eating breakfast in the morning. Didn't want to take valuable time to eat in a restaurant in the morning but not many food choices heading east visiting all the waterfalls. Overall, very nice historic hotel!

The view of the river sitting on the back patio was enjoyable.

Beautiful hotel, beautiful scenery and wonderful staff.

Cool old hotel. However, there are some things that need to be addressed on a management level. Front entrance is poorly marked. When we arrived at the front desk, there was no one there. Hello? We want to check in... Finally, someone showed and served us nicely. Lastly, I had called in to the dining room and made reservations over the phone. When we showed up, they had no record of our reservation! It was only with some persistence were we able to obtain a seat as they were quick to turn us away. Now for the many good things to say: Dinner was very good. Nice service, nice presentation. Room was very clean and enjoyable. This hotel, being an old building, comes with all the fun things old buildings have in a very pleasant sort of way. Lots of beautiful Christmas light were a nice bonus!

Cooling system noisy. Room 227 does not look out on garden as promised. It overlooks a roof and parking lot. Beautiful decor and setting. Love the carpet! Very nice customer service.

Beautiful property and nice lodging. My only complaint is that despite arriving for dinner 10-15 mins. before the dining room closed, we were informed that the kitchen was already closed. Therefore, please know that closing time for meals does not mean the latest time you may arrive at the restaurant.

Beautiful building and grounds. Great views of the Columbia River gorge and excellent location. Charm and character. Very attentive and friendly staff.

Beautiful old hotel in a beautiful setting. Because it is older there is some updating that is needed but comfortable. Very overpriced bar drinks.

The noise from the highway all night prevented us from a good night sleep. In addition to our room next to elevator. Unfortunately, the noise eclipsed any other nice/unique features of this facility: beautiful ground, historic charm, water fall, surrounding views, good water pressure in shower, comfortable bed.

Comfortable beds. Felt like a be and breakfast. Great customer service

What a fabulous few days at this amazing property.
