Hotel Mondial am Dom Cologne MGallery by Sofitel

I would not say this is a five star hotel but a four star that I am giving it five stars. It has a spa, work out room, restaurant and its own parking which is wonderful. it is centrally located within walking distance from 20 or more central attractions including the cologne Cathedral which is right across the street. The nightlife at fish market is quite loud however the hotel is a street over which keeps it quiet. Once you shut the door all the noise drowns out, my husband is a light sleeper and had no problems. 1 person told us parking under the building was $24 and one told us it was free so make sure you get correct information

I'd probably go there again next year (going to Angacom each year). Nice design overall. Bed fantastic. Room was a little small and airco a little bit lazy. I was having a drink at the empty bar downstairs, and then, 10PM, people getting out of the theater next door, become full of seniors - funny touch. WIP around, hopefully that'll not last long.

Very good hotel, pleasant staff, well-equipped, but classic room somewhat small. Lobby looks great, checking in and out without waiting. Nice terrace opposite concerthall. Good food, fast service. Five minutes from station.

This hotel was fine. I am puzzled though by the M Gallery branding. It seems to be represented as more upmarket than it is (though the price paid was, I thought, reasonable). It is also suggested that M Gallery hotels have character: this doesn't. It's in the 1980's office block style. But everything worked OK. The room was rather smaller than I would have expected, certainly a good deal smaller than it would have been were it a Novotel. The hotel's location is very good, close to the railway station but tucked away in a peaceful spot (finding it can be a challenge) and at the edge of the Old Town. The staff were good too and I enjoyed the Reissdorf café/bar, much frequented by Cologne locals. The clinching thought perhaps (and one that nudges it from 3 stars to 4) is that if I went to Cologne again by rail I would be happy to stay there again.

Almost outside Cologne's busy railway station, this hotel - part of the Sofitel M Gallery group - is very comfortable and accommodating. Our luggage was lost by KLM and the Hotel couldn't do enough for us - Toiletries, toothbrushes - you name it. Pluse helpful advice. The bar is open to the public. One night when it was full, we sat in the hotel lounge and the concierge went and fetched beers for us! Breakfast is Continental, but a few hot additions like scrambled eggs and sausages A very good hotel.

This hotel is situated perfectly in the heart of Cologne with the domm being visible from the front entrance. The foyer is spacious very clean and very stylish with extremely polite and helpful staff. The decor is of a high standard with ample seating including an offset area with tables. The dining area is also of the same standard and offers a varied very high standard breakfast. I only ate breakfast in the hotel. My only negative comment would be that the rooms are small. However they are very well equipped and again are of good quality. I would certainly stay here again due to its high standards and fabulous locality to the Numerous bars and restaurants nearby.

Stayed at this property for 6 nights (Yes - 6 nights at a stretch) Location: Excellent (and I think that's about all that I can find to praise.) Rooms are miniscule (way too small for the price tag) Wash-basin was blocked when I reached. 30 seconds of keeping the tap open, and water would start accumulating. It would take minutes to drain out. I left three notes for the house-keeping staff to correct this ... it was still blocked when I checked out. The first two nights, they left good-night chocolates ... after that this stopped. On my last night's stay it was there again (seems there is no uniform policy). They failed to link my reservation to my Accor Number and Accor Service is still unable to give me a valid explanation why they could not. Only reply mentioned that internet bookings via sites like booking.com were not valid for points. I had booked this via a Travel agent (not via an internet service) and earlier reservations at other Accor properties via the same agent had no such issues. Now, after 3 reminders Accor is silent and I have stopped reminding. I think this is an over-hyped hotel - worth giving the skip. I just returned from another trip and stayed at the Hilton this time. Similar excellent location, rooms 50%-60% larger and with everything working in the room. Rates were same on the dates.

We stayed here last December when we visited the Christmas Markets, it is in a great location, 2 minutes walk to the markets, nice friendly and very helpful staff, the breakfast was excellent, we did not use the spa (there wasn't much to use). Would stay here again!

Upon entry to my room I was hit by a smell which was almost unbearable - normally I would go down and explain this and hopefully get another room but it was already late to I opted for keeping the window open for 15 minutes which helped a bit. Logged on to the wifi but I might rather not have done that because it was just awful. Good wifi is not a luxury anymore but the internet connection at this hotel is just plain awful and forced me to go elsewhere outside the hotel to actually get some work done. I am normally happy with Novotels, Sofitels and other hotels as part of the Accor group and had got used to a certain level of standard. This experience have me seriously reconsider staying at one of the Accor group hotels in the future.....

I visit cologne for a convention and wanted a high quality hotel near the cologne messe. It's about 10 minutes walk from the hotel. The location is also great because you are a minute walking distance from the dom and various restaurants and shopping streets. The rooms are nice and I was like it when there's a Nespresso machine in the room. Storage space for clothes was just enough, not too small but not great. Perfect for a 2-3 day visit to an exhibition. Rooms were kept clean and well maintained. My biggest complaint was the elevators which are very very very slow. We were at the top floor so this was very annoying. Breakfast was good, you get all types of food you'd want (eggs, cereal, cheese, etc.) by limited choices in each group. There's also pancakes. All on par with what you'd expect from a good 4 star hotel. The front desk was helpful and nice. The checkin and checkout process were both fast and with no issues.
