There is a tram to downtown less than a block from the hotel. Easy to get downtown and back, also cheap. Tram runs frequently, never had to wait more than five minutes. Although I bought a tram ticket from the machine each time, I didn't know what to do with it. There was no place to scan it, and nobody to verify you had one. The hotel staff were courteous in explaining the town, how to get around, and some of the attractions. They made the stay quite enjoyable with their cheerful attitudes. Breakfast was good, lots of people in suits at breakfast early. This seems like a hotel that gets a fair bit of business travel. The room was large and modern. Pleasant to stay in. The wifi slowed down a bit at times, but was satisfactory overall.
I was very positively surprised by Ameron. Great rooms, great breakfast and super efficient service. Don't be worried about the location outside of the city centre. Several tram lines going to the city centre in 10-15 minutes run right outside the hotel.
Just had one night here whilst on a business trip to Cologne. Hotel is really close to a tram line and only about 5 stops to the centre. Check in was easy and the check in last did all four people in my group at the same time with minimal fuss. Rooms were a good size and bed was really comfortable. Breakfast was the usual continental affair. Plenty of choice for most people. A nice bar and some good German beers available I would definitely stay here again
We stayed here for one night, when visiting friends in Cologne. I can only say positive things about the Ameron: quick and friendly check-in, a modern and bright room with a writing desk facing the window, very helpful staff at the reception, and a wonderful breakfast buffet with many options. Free newspapers, beds are very comfortable. The whole hotel has a modern appeal to it. I liked the interior design - in the lobby area there are art and travel books, and there are other cute features. Highly recommended, i would stay here again in a second.
I always stay at the Ameron when visiting Cologne. It's convenient to the trolly stops, close to business and is updated, clean and comfortable. The food is good, with a small bar, it's good to meet colleagues. Great for business, near the parks, so good for exercise and getting out too!
big comfortable room in a hotel near to the "Stadtbahn". In 10/15 minutes you are in the middle of the city. In the room you have a giant TV. The staff is very helpfull and the breakfast is very good. Newspapers and books available.
Lovely comfortable rooms. Restaurant is good although limited menu (pasta, pizza, salad) for lunch. Got sauna, solarium and gym. Being Swedish I don’t mind but please note sauna with associated relax room is mixed and nude. Breakfast very good. Close to Christmas markets. One slight negative is noise from trams if you (like me) get a street facing room.
Hotel has a good location very close to tram stop that can take you wherever you need in the city. My reservation did not include breakfast, but it was not a problem because there is an amazing cafe/bakery just across the street. The room is quite new, quiet, very clean and the bed is very confortable. I do recommend the hotel
I was looking for a hotel for a weekend trip and the prices in the inner city were way through the roof, so I looked a little farther outside when I stumbled over this hotel. The pictures had me sold right away, but pictures aren't always very reliable. After checking it out a little more it seemed a good fit for us anyway, and the price was very OK too. So we booked it. What should I say, of all the hotels we've stayed at in cologne, this was the best until now! It was very clean, staff were VERY friendly and welcoming, and the room was superb. Quality all the way, a giant TV, great FREE wi-fi access in our room, and we didn't hear much noise from adjacent rooms. When I say "outside the inner city", that doesn't mean it's far away. You have a train station right in front of the hotel, which takes you to the city whithin a few minutes. The hotel has its own parking, which was a must for us. For people not wanting to pay for the hotels own breakfast buffet there's a very charming little café/bakery right down the street, which serves breakfast as well. All in all a very relaxing experience, and we will definitely return!
Clean modern hotel, helpful staff, excellent customer service via English. Food good quality, but not large portions. Wifi good and fast, desk and facilities in room plugs, coffee machine etc all very good. Safe secure parking easy to access. Lifts are slow and hard to access at busy times, because people take ages trying to understand the concept of the lift needing your room key to operate, take the stairs instead, but be prepared for your room key not to allow access to your floor. The security measures are commendable but when the system is inept through operator incompetence or system error then it is a massive inconvenience. Be prepared for a real and substantive risk of secondary smoke induced lung cancer while at or near the environs of the front door or the terrace part of the restaurant, while this in and of itself is not the fault of hotel staff it is more a cultural stain perpetuated by other guests and locals but it is disgusting to be subjected to it while walking in the door or attempting to dine. I don't smoke and admittedly I have no tolerance if those who do, yet I do suffer from flatulent outbursts after the occasional dalliance with unfamiliar cuisine, notwithstanding this I have the manners not to release my flatulent exhaust on persons in close proximity.... smokers neglect such social graces in this country. However a good hotel would return.
