Super 8 Fairview Heights, St. Louis

2.0 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

We have selected this hotel because the reviews were very good (3.8 out of 5, and 78% recommend to others), however our experience says differently. The hotel is smelly, there is smell from carpet, from bedsheets, bathrooms. Since the first room they gave us had a very bad smell from the bathroom, they changed us to a different room but in this room had odor from the bed-sheets. Don't fall victim based on good rating.

I thought the AC was too loud for sleeping. But it was efficient.

We stayed overnight here during a road trip. Check-in staff was friendly and we got right into our room. No trouble with having a dog with us and we even got a room near the side door so we could take her out if needed. The breakfast was plenty for a quick hotel breakfast. The hotel could probably use some updates, but it was perfectly clean and quiet and provided a nice overnight stay.

I don't have any complaints. Couldn't beat the price.

We stayed here for the weekend of November 14-16th. We were in town for the Blackhawks / Blues and Bears / Rams games. The location is right off the expressway to both St. Louis and Chicago. Great restaurants surround the hotel including my favorite Lotawata Creek ( try the Hillbilly Royale ). The rooms we had were clean and everything was in working order. The staff was fantastic. They were friendly, polite and helpful in every way. All that and at a very good price. We will definitely be back!

In this case the hotel met my requirements a somewhat inexpensive place to stay while attending a family member's funeral. We chose not to eat at the continental breakfast bar, the burnt smell of coffee and other food smells were overpowering and lead us to seek dining elsewhere. Luckily for us the area supports a large amount of restaurants and we took advantage of these eating places. In retrospect you get what you pay for: something quick and cheap for a last minute stay.

Had a great time and hotel was great. Good spot just outside St. louis. Very clean, great staff.TOP NOTCH

The hotel was nice and breakfast was good. The only issue we had was the heater seemed to only work on full blast or not at all.

Acceptable, attractive, clean room. Kind of dark. Staff was courteous.

First of all, I ended up staying at this hotel because another one in the area lost my reservation and had no more rooms available. Now this super 8 was nice, they are pet friendly and there is a good amount of area for pets to do their business. The staff was friendly and the room was clean. But the highlight was the beds and the pillows. I swear I was sleeping on a cloud! The bed just held you perfectly and the pillow was not to hard and not too soft. It was the best nights sleep I ever had. I look forward to staying there again this summer.

Hotel was just ok for a two night stay. Room was just ok. Staff was average and helpful, made us feel welcome. Location was off interstate so there was choices to go and have dinner and breakfast at, none at the hotel itself. Would I stay there again? yes if just for a short time say no more than 1 or 2 nights.

I understand booking a room that is smoking will smell like smoke some. This room smelled like it was never aired out or cleaned down. The reason I booked a smoking room was because the friend i had staying in there with me smokes. He even said it was bad and hard to breath in. The comforter had burn holes on it as well. I was very disappointed in how the room was. I have been in a smoking room before and you could kind of smell smoke but the was way over the top. I smelled like smoke with only being in there a few minutes.

Wonderful price, very clean and excellent location from St. Louis.

I was skeptical because of the reviews that I had seen. When we got there and checked in, the staff was nice and helpful. Upon entering our room, I discovered that it had not been cleaned, so I just went back down to the desk and let her know the condition of the room. She deeply apologized and immediately set us up in another room. The contintental breakfast was good and well stocked. The location was good. Noise level was good. Our overall experience was above average. I am glad that I didnt listen to the reviews. I would stay here again.

WHEN I FIRST WALKED IN, I THOUGHT NOT BAD. I CHOSE IT LOOKING FOR A BAGARIN. AND AT FIRST THOUGHT I HAD FOUND A HIDDEN TREASURE. THE YOUNG LADY WHO CHECKED US IN WAS VERY VERY NICE. WE GET OFF THE ELEVATOR AND THE SMELL HIT US. THE HALL SMELL OLD AND PARTY OUT. BUT I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST THE HALL. GET TO THE ROOM, OPEN THE DOOR AND A DIFFERENT KIND OF OLD SMELL HITS ME. AND I SAID OK, YOU WANTED A BARGARIN SO YOU DEAL WIHT IT. I GO TO TAKE A SHOWER AN THERE WERE TOWELS HANGING ON THE BACKOF THE DOOR. I ASKED MY ROOMMATE WERE THESE YOUR TOWELS AND SHE SAID NO. SO WHEN WE LEAVE THE ROOM WE ASKED IF THE BATHROOM COULD BE CLEANED AGAIN. THE YOUNG LADY VERY NICELY SAID HOUSEKEEPING WAS GONE FOR THE DAY AT ABOUT 7PM. THAT WAS ENOUGH. NO MORE SUPER 8

The hotel was very nice & clean. The hallway to the room smelled like smoke but the room didn't smell like smoke & was a smoke free room. Breakfast was your basic free breakfast but good & great for our needs.

it was a place to stay while I was visiting St. Louis for a few days. It had a clean bed and a shower, all I needed. The staff was very friendly and helpful; you couldn't ask for better. The key card needed to be re-programmed every day; that could've been better. The hotel is close to (practically shares a parking lot with) a number of restaurants for various breakfasts (I wouldn't bother with the hotel's free one), lunches, and dinners. Close also to the St. Clair County shopping district; if you forgot to pack anything, you won't have to go far to replace it. The St. Louis metro is a short drive away so you can skip the bridge traffic across the Mississippi River. (There also is apparently a bus that can take you to the metro from the hotel lot.)

We had tickets to a Cardinals game, but did not like the idea of driving into St. Louis. The Super 8 we stayed at was close to the metro as well as convenience stores,a mall, and a good selection of restaurants. The price was competitive. The employees were very friendly. The only negative was that the room was cold. The thermostat was set too low for us, but warmed up quickly. Over all very satisfied. Will stay again.

Extremely disappointed...floors had hair on them in bathroom....bathroom sink had cracks in it....carpet needed cleaning..... Was told by [...]the motel was within walking distance to the Mall.....not so....it was across lanes of Freeway....the room was so hot couldn't sleep, finally opened window...unable to turn heat down....bed and pillows extremely hard....probably not going to another Super 8.

need more quality pillows, better door locks,
