Location is what this makes this property unique! However, post Covid-19, like many other properties, this too has jaded significantly compared to ~3 years ago..

great place for family, in hear of city but isolated and wooded. Great restaurant and food. Staff was cordial and helpful. Don't miss the free boat evening cruise
I loved staying here, they had a free sunset cruise (Small boat). I enjoyed and they had free breakfast.

The "Gateway" hotels are a definine step down from the traditional Taj experience. This hotel would be considered a three star hotel by international standards at best. Breakfast buffet is absolutely terrible: full of stale bakery goods and very odd food choices that should not typically served for breakfast. The only thing somewhat good was the south indian items. Aside from the buffet, the other restaurants and bar are about average (Bubbles is a good spot for a casual dinner). Room was well appointed and clean overal, service was disjointed. Some staff members were very good, some were inept. Concierge lady almost send my wife and I on a dangerous trip on a late night ferry to the Taj Malabar until one of the doorman intervened. Dry cleaning ruined one of my shirts, but did a good job making amends. Gym is ridiculously small. Overall, a convienient place to stay for and accetable as long as the price is below $150USD.
