    OK but isolated

I stay here often for regular work-related trips to nearby Kelseyville. There aren't many places to stay in this area. It's a basic motel but clean, comfortable, lots of hot water, wi-fi. Only complaint is that it is affiliated with a neighboring gas station/convenience store without 24-hour on-site staff readily available, so some security concerns given the rural location and spotty cell-phone service in the region. Given I was maybe the only person there on my last stay, I will be looking into places further away but that are less isolated.

No one in the office when I arrived. Had to go to the gas station to get someone to come to the office and confirm my booking and once in the office, they couldn't find my booking. They honored the booking I showed them online. In the morning I had to walk over to the gas station to check out. Kind of inconvenient.

It's wine country, so we had drunk noisy neighbors. The staff was good about telling them to quiet down so our young child could sleep.

When I arrived to check I was told #1)the deposit was $100 not $50 as stated on the website #2) when I explained I needed to change my check out date from the 5th to the 3rd because I didn't have enough money to cover the cost of the increased deposit &the room &I would have to renew on the 3rd I was angrily told I would have to do that online through Expedia because they couldn't at which point I sat on the couch in the office trying to find where& how to change it with my service being so slow I spent 45 minutes trying until a lady came in because the man had a call& she got online &was able to change it Why didn't they do that in the first place? it took her less than 5 minutes #3)when asked about pets I said yes a cat at which point she practically yelled at me "no cats! We don't allow cats!" She then told me a story about a lady who had 18 cats in her room&how they had to remodel the room after her She told me I should have disclosed that when I made reservation I told her there wasn't a question about how many or what kind of pets& nowhere was it disclosed that cats specifically not allowed she said she would ask her husband but they'd charge another $100 plus an extra $30/day she didn't think her husband would say yes. Not willing to leave my cat in my car or take her to the shelter I told her to cancel everything then& I called Expedia the same day to complain she yelled you would charge me anyway. I ended up sleeping on the side of the road with my cat. Ridiculous!
