Our coach tour stayed here for one night on our way through the area. The hotel is a rabbit warren, with our room at the end of several long corridors and up some stairs. Initially it is very difficult to navigate, but it is pretty well sign posted, and staff are very friendly and helpful. Our room is okay, nice and spacious staying in a twin room, with a view out the back over the carpark but also of a hill with some cows which is nice. We had an old school TV and the batteries in our remote were flat but the TV works which is the main thing (though with limited channels). The beds are comfortable and the room was clean and well aired on our arrival. There is a heater and the window opens so it's good for temperature regulation. The bar is great, with a wide selection of beers and wines, and a mixture of Irish and foreign beers on tap. The food at the bar is really good, though the vegetarian options are very, very limited (but that's been the case throughout Ireland the U.K. so far!). They advertise a health centre etc but we didn't use that, we honestly just got here and crashed. It doesn't seem to be too hard to get into the city centre though, by foot or by taxi. It's nothing astounding but it's quite comfortable for a night.
While on a trip to Cork recently we stopped off in Ennis to break up the journey. I would have to say that next time we will just keep going. The food in the hotel was fine but the service wasn't great. The issue was that wife who is a vegetarian was given a dish with meat in it when we pointed this out it then took 45 minutes to replace it. I would also say that the rooms are in serious need of updating.
The breakfast was excruciating every morning. There wasn't much choice. You have to order if you want fried egg. There was a male waiter that wasn't so friendly. The asian waitresses were lovely, they were very accommodating. The room was nice and clean. The toilet was huge because we were given a disability accessed toilet, hence, no bath. I had to wash my 7 month old baby in the sink, which gave him horror, as he slipped so many times and was sore from my grip. My 3 year old hates shower, more so terrified by it. The trauma he got when I forced him to shower every time is disheartening. We tried to make it fun for him but he was already scarred being forced to shower. Wasn't sure if there's a room with a bath, or f we were allowed to complain with the amount we paid for our stay. We are not really the complaining type. There was a late night noise that kept us awake every night. The receptionist should be more friendly. It's the people around the hotel that makes the stay nice. We'll never go back here.
Our tour stayed here. The rooms were a bit dated and needed some modern touches. We also could have used an iron. The breakfast could be improved if there were more vegetarian items such as mushrooms.
I booked the auburn lodge a few weeks ago for a night out and I was impressed by the hotel , the staff at reception were great help , the room was up to standard but it was slightly overpriced , other than that the hotel can't be faulted, I'd definitely stay here again.
Stayed in the Auburn last week. The shock when we discovered excretement in the toilet in the room on arrival. We were shocked by the discovery. Hotel is very old and outdated but you expect cleanliness and hygiene. Staff are very friendly but this was really shocking. 100 euro for a couple for one night no breakfast and the toilet has not been cleaned. Very poor..
Clean, comfortable however a little dated. Good leisure facilities for an overnight stay and the pool area was clean enough. However, no locks on locker doors which meant there was no security of your personal items while you enjoyed the health suite. Great location and handy into Ennis town centre, beautiful boutique shops and lots to see. 30 minutes from Father Ted House but quite difficult to find.
Just back from a three day short break at the Auburn Lodge in Ennis with my husband and grandchildren. While the staff were friendly the hotel was very dated and unloved. The sheets on my gran daughters bed were ripped and the bathrooms really need a makeover. The one thing that was important to us was that there should be some entertainment on at night. The website said that there is entertainment most nights during high season, but there was nothing on for our whole stay. This I'd false advertising and should not be allowed. Unhappy customer won't be returning.
I Arrived last week for a three day stay with my wife and young kids and first thing I noticed when entering reception was that I had actually stayed here many years ago as a child and nothing much had changed. Check in was quick and efficient and our room was at the end of a series of long corridors. The room like the corridors was very dated but was reasonably big with enough room for our two children and baby in a cot. It had modern flat screen TV but other fixtures and fitting were reminiscent of the seventies or maybe being kind, the 1980's. To be fair though, the room was spotlessly clean and smelled fresh, as did the entire hotel. Although there was WIFI throughout the hotel the signal was intermittent in our room which was a bit disappointing. The hotel is situated on a main road into Ennis a five minute drive into town and probably just too far to walk. The hotel was very busy during our stay with coach loads of foreign tourists coming and going during our stay but this was a positive and added to the generally salubrious atmosphere in the hotel. We dined in the hotel restaurant one night as part of our package and the menu and decor like the bedrooms and hotel in general was very dated. It was however reasonably tasty and the waiter like all of the staff we encountered was very attentive and friendly. We also had breakfast each morning and it could not be faulted with a large selection of hot and cold foods. As well as the friendly and attentive staff there were other positives about the hotel. As I said previously I found it to be spotlessly clean throughout and although dated the seating areas around the foyer and reception were very pleasant. The biggest assets of the hotel were the swimming pool and the bar, both were clean modern and well utilised and very welcoming. The pool was reasonably large and the same depth throughout and had a small kids pool which was great for our youngest child and baby. The Jacuzzi and steam room were both great and worked well being clean and well looked after. By far our favourite part of the hotel was the bar. It is a large traditional style bar and relatively modern with a good selection of beers and spirits to choose from. The bar staff were excellent and the atmosphere in the bar each evening was convivial. It had a nice mix of locals, business people and tourists from the tour buses. The service and atmosphere in the bar was as good and as lively as other bars in town we visited and similarly priced also. It also has a pleasant outside sitting area which was particularly nice in the warm evenings. Although we didn’t partake in the bar food it looked very good and certainly seemed to be very popular throughout the day, with a carvery at lunchtime and bar menu in the evening. To summarise, Auburn lodge is a large older style hotel with good staff, a great bar and excellent swimming and leisure facilities. Although certain parts of the hotel are very dated it is clean and functional throughout and given the right package and prices we would certain stay here again as we found Ennis to be a wonderful small town in a great location with lots to offer.
Spent a weekend here with my husband and two children and mother in law. It's A really lovely hotel... staff are very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious in the bar and the restaurant. Live music in bar... kids loved the pool. would definitely go back
