You get what you pay for. The property is literally across the street from Millennium Park and other shopping/eating areas. So as for as the room goes, it’s alright. It does the job, it’s not fancy or anything but you’ll hardly even be in the room if you’re trying to tour around. However, I do recommend bring stuff to eat/cook and shower with. I was pleased and let me tell you, I’m pretty boujee when it comes to hotels but this is ok. Chicago isn’t cheap, anyway.

Very conveniently located adjacent to Millennium Park and the L. The room also had a kitchenette with all the basic utensils, cookware and plates to make cooking in the room a solid option.

Old furniture, dirty shower curtain, dirty and old shower floor, loud a/c, hot water was only hot in the evenings, only 1 elevator worked, 10 am check out needs to be 11 am, check in at 4:30 is too late, no mattress protectors on the beds, old carpets. Should be $100 a night not $300. Would not stay here again.

The staff was extremely friendly, the location was amazing. It met all my needs and i would recommend it to anyone who likes simplicity with a great Chicago vibe.

Excellent location with convenient access to transportation.Wish the apartment matched the exterior. Reception was a disappointment as the alternative arrangement at security was clearly not helpful and sent us to the wrong floor twice.

We stayed in a studio. The location was awesome. The kitchenette was actually nice. Large fridge. Just 2 of each item like silverware, glasses. Carpet stained and old. Sheets too small for bed but we requested new and 2nd set was better. We had to wash the shower curtain as it was unacceptable. Hallways and elevators need sprucing up. No signs telling you Check in on 19th floor. Check in specific hours with no exceptions.

The hotel is in a historic building with high ceilings, large windows, and great touches (e.g., pressed tin ceiling in the lobby, cool art in the rooms). But the carpets are stained, furniture is ripped and stained, walls are scratched and scuffed, and window blinds are damaged and most do not open or close. This would be a fantastic hotel with an interior renovation, but not worth it for the price - which was comparable with the much nicer Palmer Court.

We stayed here because of the location and that it was more of a studio/suites type of place--more like an apartment. We were needing 3 nights of lodging and did not want to have a regular hotel or have to eat out at every meal. This absolutely met our needs! The room was small, but easily fit a king size bed and full kitchen. There was no dining table area in our room, however it was just two of us and sitting on the bed and on a chair and eating in our laps was just fine. The kitchen had the basics for cooking and serving meals. Nothing matched, however everything was there. There was only one wine glass and one short tumbler glass so our eating was a bit eclectic, but it absolutely worked. It was clean and had everything we needed. The manager on site immediately dealt with some lights that were burned out. The check in and check out were easy as could be. The building does not have parking nor is it easy to pull up outside and unload your things, so you do need to be a bit creative there. Parking is just around the corner on Michigan Ave in the Millennium Park garage. We were able to lug our stuff in one trip. The building is older and there is no notable sign outside to know that you are at the right place--look for the Pittsfield Building and go inside--you will find directions to the appropriate registration once inside. For what we needed it was perfect--no frills, clean, right price, great location and ability to cook for ourselves.

The location can't be beat, but the rooms are shabby and not well maintained. The blinds didn't work, one of the showers was broken, the AC made a terrible racket, the lamps were all askew, several of the power outlets didn't work, the elevators seemed rickety and unsafe and the safety/security call system on at least one of them was broken. We were praying the elevator didn't break down. There's really no one to communicate with, except between 4:30pm and 10:30pm, and then the one person on staff (who was actually very nice) is overwhelmed by all the other people having various problems. So, if you can tolerate this type of thing, go for it, because the rate, especially for the location, is really good. Otherwise, find something else.

Clearly, the reason you are considering this hotel is because of the location. My colleague and I were in Chicago for a conference and did not plan to spend much time in the room. All we needed was a bed to sleep in and a hot shower. Well, the water was freezing. Nowhere near lukewarm. FREEZING! We let the water run for 20 minutes but it never warmed up. Because we didn't have enough time to have someone fix the hot water before we needed to be at the conference, we were forced to take freezing cold showers. Because it was so cold, I cut the crap out of myself shaving multiple times because of the goosebumps (and I never cut myself shaving). Both of my legs were covered in blood and later scabs. I called the office to complain about the water and was told somebody fixed it. We got back to the room around 11 pm and the water did warm up. BUT, by the morning, it was freezing cold again. Again, we let the water run for 20 minutes (the shower, sink and kitchen sink) and it never changed temperature and we had to take cold showers. Perhaps if all you need is a bed, then this place will suffice but if you want even warm water to bathe in, do not go to this place.

Great location, beautiful room and building. I have already highly recommended Pittsfield to many family members. They were very accommodating to me needing a friend to check us in (because we wouldn't have arrived on time for check in) and they were very communicative via the Orbitz chat feature. Highly recommend! Great rates too!

Cons Carpeting, bath mat, and blankets were dirty. Blankets had dried gunk on them that could easily be washed off. Sheets on the roll away beds were so thin you could see the mattress print through them. The only garbage can was in the bathroom and was very small for a two bedroom unit & 6 guests. The widows just had horizontal blinds which let all the glare from the street lights in making it very bright throughout the night. Pros Location was phenomenal for the price. Check-in attendant helped us get a discounted price for the parking garage which was only a block away. She also gave us a 4 hour late check out for no additional fee. TV had USB ports which was a life saver as we forgot our wall adapter to charge phones.

The price was good for a 2 bedroom 2 baths. The smell in one of the bathrooms was overwhelming. Brown stuff on the walls, gross! This place is not cleaned regularly. Very worn out and run down room. Found a roach in the toilet floating. The bedrooms seem to be a bit cleaner than the rest of the place. Walking distance to Millennium Park There’s no valet parking on the weekends. We were able to find a self parking about a block away. If this place used bleach to clean and repaired all the broken or ripped furniture it would be a great place! Not the worst experience!

Very poor impression as upfront information about cash only valet was not apparent, and then finding a valet who acknowledged having change was like pulling teeth. The bed was not a King as promised, and was only a top mattress and lumpy. The fridge's seal was loose and made me glad I wasn't planning on using it. The oven clearly hadn't been cleaned in ages, which made me wonder what the $50 cleaning fee actually included. Oh yeah, and the garbage, which tenants are responsible for emptying from rooms, wasn't moved from the trash room often enough, resulting in a sick smell in the hallways. Additionally, it seemed having a 4:30 check-in time, followed by a 10am check out time, was not consistent with industry norms. On the plus side, it was within walking distance to EVERYTHING I wanted downtown. I did feel safe, and the valets were timely in getting our car to us at check out. The parking fee was lower than what one would pay at any other hotel downtown.

The desk is only staffed between 4:30pm and midnight. You have to check in between those hours. If anything goes wrong at other times, you're on your own. There's scaffolds everywhere. It's hard to find the entrance. The hallway has lovely architecture. There is no lobby. On the floor where our room was there were mattresses propped up in the hallway and odd chairs pushed into a clear space that could have been a lounge area if there was more space and less chairs. You couldn't use them because they were so dense. The room was tiny. The chairs by the table were dirty as was the sponge in the sink. The dishes were wet with water puddled atop them. Gross. Was not well cleaned despite our having to pay a $50 cleaning fee AND $50 fee that had no explanation attached. RIP OFF.

We checked out first thing in the morning after a night where the a/c did not get the room below 80+ degrees. Really disappointed which got our first day of vacation off to a terrible start which involved a long nap during the day.
