Get Ready to get RIPPED OFF!!! Booked through hotels.com. Went to check in and was assigned a completely empty room that was being renovated. They overbooked and we were kicked to the curb with the wife and 4 kids during Chicago Marathon weekend! Was charged for 2 days that I didn't stay. Thats not even the worst of it. I called and emailed, called and emailed, Called and emailed about the charges and there was never anyone available. Hotel from Hell!!!
We arrived 4:00 pm because the reservation specified 4:00 pm is the check in time. There was no one to check us in, and there was a very long waiting line. We had to wait for the guy for an hour. We had to pay cash because of some trouble they had with their credit card machine, although our credit card had already been charged. We had to trust the guy he'd refund the money, and he did. They gave us a very old, dirty room that smelled like cat pee. We went to Target and bought lysol and glade, but the smell wouldn't go away. Next day we went to ask for another room. They changed us but this room din't had a closet, and we were there on a business trip, so next morning we were changed to another room. The third room was not as terrible as the other ones, so we stayed there and asked the guy to have our room cleaned every day (because the $60 fee they charge does not include it) so he told us they would clean our room every day but the did not. The "hotel" changes its name very often, when we were there it was called "Downtown suites" now it is "Pangea corporate suites", and it keeps changing.
The room they gave me was quite literally a construction zone. Plastic tarps covering the floor covered in plaster, with a ladder in the middle of the room and garbage bags strewn throughout. There was a disconnected TV lying on the bed in the one habitable bedroom. (The other bedroom had plaster all over the place and a bed folded up against the wall.) The toilet in the bathroom didn't work. I don't think that I've ever been that horrified walking into a hotel room.
The only good thing is, that the apartment is situated right in downtown and that the personal in the reception are friendly (though they pointed out, that they don’t work for Loop Suites and if you have any complains or questions related to your stay you must contact Loop Suites by phone). The apartment does not at all look as in the pictures shown on hotels.com. The whole place is run-down and dirty, and the floor and surroundings has not been cleaned for a really long time (I had to wear shoes inside all the time because the floor was really dirty and sticky). The kitchen lacks utilites to make your own cooking. The towels and sheets, I assume, has been washed, but are worn out and contains stains. Not at all a cosy place!
Let me begin by saying, DO NOT STAY HERE. If there is any indication of this being a scam and fraudulent business it is the recent name change from Downtown Suites to Loop Suites. Perhaps constant name changes will allow these con-artists to continue to swindle money from people because of their ability to stay ahead of the masses of terrible reviews. From the beginning, I faced difficulties. Upon booking, I was charged for my stay twice and could not get a hold of management. It turns out the only way to contact them is through text message, the number listed is unable for an actual phone call. I was never able to reach them to fix the issue, I had to remedy the situation through my own credit card company. This should have been my first red flag, but my friends and I were excited for the opportunity to stay a block and a half from Millenium Park (where the start of the Chicago Half Marathon happened to be). When we arrived at the building, we were greeted by a self-proclaimed security guard who was sure to tell us he was not an employee of Downtown Suites, the name at the time and another red flag but at this point, it was too late. We were supposed to have a two bedroom (one room with a King and another room with two queens), a living room, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a city view. We ended up having a studio with one double bed and view of the courtyard. There was no way that all four of us would be able to stay in the small room. If the small space wasn't enough, the room was filthy, the blinds facing the courtyard were broken and the room reeked of marijuana. What was supposed to be a fun weekend, centered around the Chicago Half Marathon, turned into a scramble to find another place to stay because none of us felt comfortable in a building that unclean and filled with the smell of illegal drugs. I attempted to contact the management once again to fix the problem and/or get a refund, no response. We found other accommodations and to my surprise, I was charged on Saturday another $250 more dollars for a security deposit for Downtown Suites (where we were no longer staying) and was charged another $10 dollars for an unknown fee on Sunday. I continue to be unable to get into contact with any management or ownership of this "establishment" to figure out any sort of solution to all of the issues/charges that were incurred. Again, DO NOT STAY HERE. The management of this "Hotel" are frauds and are only looking to prey on unsuspecting out of town travelers. I feel exploited by these scumbags and in the future will spend much more time doing my due diligence in researching any hotel I plan on patronizing. I normally give people the benefit of the doubt in situations like this, but the blatant false advertisement and inability to reach anyone who could help me or ease or discomfort lead me to this platform to try and protect anyone else in the future. I certainly hope this reaches enough people to make a difference because no one deserves to be exploited by such snakes when your contributing to the tourism of another city. It's unfortunate that something as simple as hospitality can leave such a bad taste in one's mouth about an entire city. DO NOT STAY HERE.
I was super nervous to spend the weekend in this hotel after reading the reviews on here, but we were pleasantly surprised. Now, this hotel is like $88 a night to be RIGHT DOWNTOWN, literally half a block from the bean. The location is unbeatable. The hotel itself is actually an older condo building, this would be better called an air bnb than a hotel! But the room was clean, and as advertised. - a one bedroom condo essentially. We had no problems with the room, it was bare but that’s okay. No bugs, no cleanliness issues etc. The staff were helpful and did what they could to make the stay good. I would stay here again. My only advice is don’t go into his thinking it will be a “hotel” with all the frills. It’s definitely bargain but the location can not be beat.
Booked the room in January for September dates through booking.com. They charged the full amount of $2200 right away. Cancellation was free if you cancel 60 days before move in date. On march 8-th we received email from booking.com that our reservation was cancelled by Loop suites because they cant accommodate our staying on reserved dates. And they refuse to issue refund of $2200. We called Loop suites asking what is going on. They said that refund should be issued by booking.com. But booking.com has nothing to do with the transaction. We called booking.com and our bank and they all said that refund should be initiated by Loop Suites, since they charged our credit card. Called Loop suites again and left messages, they refuse to answer and issue refund
I booked with them and they charged the total fee of $574.78. When I cancelled later within the free cancellation period they did not refund my booking fee. They do not answer phone or e-mails. Luckily, I reported this fraud to my bank and they compensated me. Do not dare to book here, STAY AWAY FROM THESE THIEVES.
i booked this hotel 10 days ago on Booking.com with free cancellation and then cancelled on the same day. But they have charged me inmediately the full amount of the stay and i've been trying to call or contact them for now 4 days and nobody answer, nor pick up the phone and defintely they are NOT in a rush to send me the money back. Booking,com has tried also to call them and no answer. DON'T BOOK HERE
OMG!! This place is terrible! We checked in today. Went to our room and found dead bugs in the sink as soon as we walked in. We were willing to let that go so we went to one of the bedrooms. It was disgusting, broken bed, what looked like blood stained sheets and bugs crawling, mold all over the bathroom, dirty walls with holes in them. I could go on and on. We called the number given to us and it’s a whatup app number. No one picked up and no way to leave a voicemail. They charged us for a cleaning fee but never cleaned. The Oder in the room was horrific. We left ASAP! I would not let my worst enemy stay there. They make you prepay non refundable and have false photos online. It seems to be a scam. Who ever manages/owns loop suites needs to condemn it or find someone who knows what they are doing! Wish I would have read the reviews on all the sites first. Disgusting!
