It was about a block from where we parked (ample parking in the area, but I recommend booking that ahead). When we first entered I wasn't quite sure where my room was or the rooms of my travel companions. However, we walked through the hallway and figured out the layout and found our room on the first floor. Our room was a converted studio apartment (Liz Taylor theme) with a kitchenette and bathroom. We really enjoyed the sound system and the song selections available. The decor was also very fun. There were snacks/light breakfast items in the basement in the morning. I was pleasantly surprised and I would stay there again if I were visiting downtown Chicago.
I want to write a review in response to all of the negative reviews. We stayed in the Grace Kelly room (4th floor) and my children stayed in the Al Capone room and the Marilyn Monroe room (both on the 3rd floor) from January 2nd - 6th. Everything was wonderful. So much character in the building and all of the rooms! Owner was very nice with great communication. The rooms are exactly as pictured - BEAUTIFUL! Quality furniture and bedding with everything you need. There is not an elevator so be mindful of that. We didn't mind all the stairs - we would joke about it! There is a charming common room in the basement with cookies and breakfast items which we enjoyed. You couldn't ask for a better location. Everything is close by. Do not hesitate with staying here - you won't regret it! We are definitely making this our place to stay when going to Chicago!
I called to book a room just to get away for a couple days,I didnt get an answer so 20mins later the owner called me back & asked what did i want to rent her property for if I live in Chicago & that she doesn't rent to "locals". she THEN starting screaming hysterically in the phone demanding I go rent a room downtown because I'm a drug dealer!!!! Talking about she's on to me! I've never had this happen to me!! I dont understand what her problem is..soon as I picked up the phone she went off! Rude as ever...yes Customer service sucks! Dont go here she doesn't deserve anyone money AT ALL!Look shes steady texting me now
Booked this place end of may 2018, got an email the day before I was leaving for Chicago that they cancelled my reservation due to double booking. I was in a panic due to no hotel now and was shocked that they had the audacity to casually email a cancellation a day before arrival! Warning to all who want to stay here, the will cancel at a moments notice without a single care about the customer!!!! If I could this place would get zero's.
Take time to read reviews and take them seriously. I trusted this property to be good when I paid in full six months in advance for a mother daughter trip. They had no intention of providing a room for us. They claim to have no means by which to link their computer to HOTELS.COM so they have no way of knowing when HOTELS.COM sells their room. Yet they advertise and sell this property on numerous sites. It was a big weekend in Chicago and they were able to get a lot more for the room than we paid in advance. This is basically a criminal organization operating freely in the city of Chicago. They prey on tourists coming in from out of town. Whatever agency governs B&B’s needs to shut this place down. Numerous people have had this same experience or worse and they are allowed to continue taking advantage of unsuspecting travelers. DONT BOOK THIS PROPERTY.
Made the mistake of booking a stay with this property through Home Away. We booked on April 5th, had to cancel on May 10th - 90 days in advance of our stay and the owner refused to give us a refund. For a luxury property in Chicago this was $400 a night for a 4 night stay. The owner has reopened the dates and is rebooking those nights to collect double for the rooms. Don't book with these people - horrible customer service and business practices.
Unprofessional Crooks! They overbooked our room and said they had no record of our purchase, even though we booked through Expedia and have all the records of our purchase. They have zero skill or training in customer service. Cussed out my significant other over the phone dropping the F word left and right over the situation. Would gladly give it a ZERO star review if that was an option. I have never seen this kind of unprofessionalism in my life!
We booked our room in December for June 2018. We received confirmation from hotels.com and VRBO to confirm the reservation. Paid for 100%. In March I was on VRBO to book a new reservation for separate trip and saw that my Chicago room was cancelled. I called hotels.com and they reconfirmed the reservation and assured me it wasn’t cancelled. I called the Celeste Suites myself just to make sure and the really hostile person (I’m guessing owner) said we didn’t have a reservation. She never apologized and only was rude and used profane language towards me. It was ridiculous! Who acts like that in a hospitality industry?! Completely unprofessional.
The Property Manager Goriana Alexander is rude, unprofessional, and condescending. I will never stay at any of her properties again. After arriving and sharing with her my concerns over a bug infestation (don't know for sure if it was bed bugs or fleas), she immediately became confrontational. She did not offer to relocate me and my children. Within 20 minutes, she had me vehicle towed. We called an Uber, had to pay to pick up our car and drove 4-1/2 hours back home in the middle of the night. She is now refusing to refund my $1,000.00 and I was literally there less than an hour. I would not recommend dealing with this Property
