Puripunn is a beautiful, quiet and secluded hotel in the middle of a busy city. The minute I arrived, I was welcomed with a cold towel and a lovely tea drink. They carried my luggage to the room and showed me around. It was roomy and tastefully decorated in a traditional Thai style. They provided a fruit basket of Thai fruits, which was a lovely touch (although not such a fan of mangosteen). The A/C worked very well and the room had a ceiling fan. The bed was comfortable, which can be a difficult find in Asia where stiff beds are the norm. The restaurant, while a bit pricy, was so lovely and delicious. It felt like our own little resort since there weren't many people here in the off season. I stayed in Le Meridien previously, which is a nice hotel, but certainly modern without a distinct sense of "being in Thailand", which is pretty common in chain hotels. Puripunn definitely offered that chance to enjoy Thai culture. Staff were lovely and so helpful. They would arrange a taxi for me for 200 THB to airport and other places, which is reasonable. Taxi was always very nice and on time. Wifi was good and fast. My only suggestion is that the shower was an old-style, handle that you can stick into a holder. The holder didn't hold the shower handle very well, so it was difficult to get the angle right without getting water all over the place.
It is not common for me to rate a hotel as Excellent. I save those evaluations for examples like this. The whole hotel is just beautiful. The room comfortable and beautiful. The breakfast lovely prepared and the staff polite and helpful. Thank you for a fantastic stay.
Puripunn is an oasis of peace of tranquility in a really charming setting. I don't know where to begin since so many things were magical about this hotel. First, I find the location perfect. The city center of Chiang Mai is pretty but very busy and crowded, with turists and street vendors. Puripunn is not directly in the center -- in a very calm neighborhood, where you can relax away from the hustle and bustle of the city. At the same time, it is 15 min walking to the night market and 20-25 min walking from the city center. So you can just take a nice walk there or use the taxi service of the hotel -- the hotel has free taxi that will take you within a certain distance of the hotel and it is enough to reach most restaurants and attractions (btw, be sure to book "The Service 1921" in advance, it is a really mind-blowing restaurant in Chiang Mai). The staff in Puripunn is absolutely wonderful. They are so polite and nice in so many ways. To give you an example, in the last day we had a 6am flight to catch and we were going to miss breakfast (which btw was fantastic). They booked us a taxi and at 4am they had a breakfast box prepared so that we could eat in the airport. When we arrived we were greated with two beautiful cups of ice-tea decorated with flowers and they brought to our room a beautiful plate of fresh fruit. We arrived and helped us to book a lot of activities (like Elephant Natural Park, Zipline and a tour to the Inthernon national park). We really loved all the activities they suggested. Moreover, the hotel is just beautifully decorated, the swimming pool is great and the rooms very spacious and comfortable. The restaurant of the hotel is also quite good -- we had lunch there once and it was really good.
We spent 2 nights in Puripunn Baby Grand and can only recommend. A nice and cute boutique hotel. Rooms are assembled a wonderful small garden with the pool in the middle. Every room is equipped with teak wooden floors and roof and a big bath room with separate shower room. Fantastic breakfast and friendly, nice and helpful staff. Definitely a place to recommend.
My experience at Puripunn was mixed. On the one hand, I found the staff to be friendly and helpful. They seemed genuinely eager to help out and make my stay pleasant. In addition, the hotel itself is very nice. The room and common areas are a very nice oasis. The morning breakfast buffet was quite good, and the service was attentive. On the other hand, there is room for improvement. While they staff tried to book my activities, they signed me up for a two day tour instead of the one day tour I requested. I don’t speak any Thai, so communication was a potential issue, but they themselves had booked me for a cooking class on the 2nd day of the two-day tour they put me on. I only found out it was a two day tour after going to the organization’s office, after which we had to sort it out and they took me back to the hotel. All in all, a lot of time was wasted. Second, while the hotel rates I think are reasonable, I felt gouged by the laundry prices. It’s normal for a hotel to inflate such prices, but they seemed very out of line, forcing one to choose between spending too much money on laundry or spending time taking them to the very inexpensive places in the city. There are a few other little things, such as the fitness center being only open at 8am, a bit inconvenient for we early risers, and mysterious since it’s not staffed. It’s not obvious why it’s not always open. In any case, I would consider this hotel a good but not great option for people who don’t want to stay right in the old city, but want to be reasonably close to it. With some improvements, this hotel could be excellent rather than just good.
I stayed here for 2 nights and the customer service was amazing. All the staff were so helpful, friendly and always smiling. There nothing they couldn't do for you. I stayed in 7 different hotels during my Honeymoon in Thailand and this one was my wife's favorite. Can't see many hotels in Chang Mai being any better. It is a small but very elegant hotel and the personal touches and design make it very cosy. They have a Tuk tuk that runs regularly, taking you into the city centre when you want.
We travelled with grown up kids & really enjoyed our 4 nights at the Puripunn, I wouldn't consider it suitable for young children. The courtyard pool & garden is very beautiful, especially at night, however it is very small. The bar & restaurant is also lovely, but again small. We loved our rooms, full of character & beautifully furnished, the beds are very firm which suited us. The bathrooms are a little basic, shower over bath with shower-curtain which was a little disappointing, & they could do with more facilities for hanging wet towels. No elevator but didn't bother us, it's not high-rise. The location suited us, approx 20min walk to the "old town" gate, they do offer free lifts early evening, I prefer to be here than actually in town, much quieter. Don't be put off by the slightly bizarre approach to the hotel, narrow, winding alleyways with pretty basic local residencies opening onto, we walked them late at night & never felt threatened (far from it) alternatively get a very cheap taxi back. The staff were delightful & couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast was delicious, eggs cooked to order & Thai options, didn't eat any other meals in house so can't comment on that. Nice touch that the hotel owner popped into breakfast one morning to ask guests individually how there stay was going. I will definitely be visiting Chiang Mai again and I will definitely choose the Puripunn again.
Away from the hustle and bustle of crowd and noise, a very lovely and cozy retreat. Owner greets guests personally, good, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff too. Also great chef who prepared good food, very tasty to our palates. Close to Old Town and convenient to venture out. Would really recoomend stay here - already 3 nights here, 2 more nights to go and would surely return and stay here again.
Very nice and comfortable room. Lovely view out onto the courtyard. Unbelievable breakfast. Very hospitable, welcoming, and caring staff that helped us book an excursion to go see elephants at a place that treated the elephants really well (price was same as what it would have been had we booked it ourselves). Refreshing welcome drink. Had a great time swimming in the pool, which was open late. Just a very peaceful and relaxing place to stay.
Beautiful pool, great staff who help in any way and tge perfect location are what this hotel is all about. The pool was perfect to relax by in the afternoon wish a drink. The staff were so friendly and helpful, arranging tuk-tuks and taxis for our trips. Just accross the bridge to all the markets and bazaars.
