It's taken me a week to compose myself enough to write this review. Booked 10th August via booking.com for two nights, arriving 6th September. 900 baht or around 23 AUD per night. 1. Arrived with my son and friend asked to see the room. The place looked ok - lots of rooms with a pool at the centre with perhaps 8 staff sitting around the kitchen dining pool area staring at us. 2. Was shown a dingy smelly room with ancient air con and a jackhammer going outside. 3. Went back to reception and asked for a room without the jackhammer. Lady said 'that's what you paid for with your booking, if you don't like it contact booking.com'." 4. I asked nicely (despite inner fury) to see a room without jackhammer noise. Lady said 'that is upgrade and ou pay another 400 baht". 5. Was shown a room that was like a dungeon that we had to actually step around a dig up overgrown courtyard to get to. 6. Returned to reception. The lady informed me the room would be 1200 baht per night! 7. So I started to "get it". Asked to see my booking receipt. Guess what! They charged me at the time of booking on 10 August!!! 8. I explained that booking.com NEVER charges in advance. Lady waved me away and said "you take that up with booking.com, not my problem". 9. With desperation I said words to the effect that they have so many rooms, why can't they put us in a decent room, we have travelled all the way from Australia to stay here. I said booking.com isn't your boss, you don't work for them, they work for you and surely you have management discretion to put us in a room without a jackhammet. 10. They turned away. 11. I realised they never wanted us to really stay there, they just wanted the money that was scammed from my account 3 weeks before we arrived. 12. Please don't book or stay here. Besides that I noticed the chef sitting in the kitchen, smoking a cigarette and picking his nose. The pool looks inviting but with all of the staff sitting around, it would feel very uncomfortable to have am audience.
Thai friend recommended it. But only great thing is the pool! Single room rather dismal. Staff not all that helpful. Location is convenient. Out the front door take a right 200 m to Terrasse a great French bistro at good price.
Location is the best you can find. Also the price of the rooms are very good and you have a swimming pool downstairs. Rooms are clean. Staff is just ok. Very good price/quality. Never tried the restaurant.
hotel pool was nice, rooms were okay but I could not sleep at all due to realy loud noise coming from just outside our bedroom window. we had a room by the pool, I don't know if it was the air conditioning generator or something to do with the pool but I can not express how loud it was, and considering i am one of these that needs noise to fall asleep (tv,music) it was ridiculous. I didn't sleep atall and for that reason I would not stay there again. the staff are like ninjas they no exactly when you leave your room like there watching your every move we poped put to the shop 10 mins and came back and they had been in our room!! this happend every day, there is no option for you not to have your room changed. I understand alot of people want there rooms changing on a daily basis but we don't like to as we don't want people around our stuff and considering there is big signs on the back of the door saying the hotel will not be responsible if things go missing out of your room, please keep valuables on you at all times, I definitely didn't want the cleaners in the room every day. the food was good and the taxi to the airport was cheap. :)
So a few things went wrong on our stay here last week.. I'm not one to write bad reviews but I was not impressed. 1 - My partner went down to buy a beer to drink pool side. Menu said 90baht but he was charged 120baht, the man had bad english and said " sur charge " it was not a public holiday or anything and he couldn't tell me partner what this sur charge was even for.. he ripped us off. I small amount but it isn't the point. 2 - Although it was cheap the room was pretty small and very dark. Bed was very hard and you only get one paper thin pillow each. 3 - We got some laundry done and I wish we didn't. We were told it would be done by 12pm the following day, checked multiple times and it wasn't done until 6.30pm and we were charged a hefty 350baht for a small bag of clothers. To top it off some of my clothes were missing! I went to reception and told her, she let me go through someone else's washing and to my supirse it was in someone else's bag of clothes! No sorry or anything. Only good thing about this place was the pool. I guess if you want just a average bed to sleep in this would be okay but I won't be back.
Not only did they lose some of our laundry it was mixed up in someone else's washing also a day late with no communication and really expensive (350baht) for a small plastic bag,They charged me 130baht for a beer thet was 90baht on the menu "sir charge", really rude at reception not a pleasant stay at all!
Love the pool. Nice rooms: clean and comfortable beds. Quite some tropical vegetation make it feel like being in the jungle. Good location on the southeastern edge of the old city. Near the night bazaar and night markets. The ring road is a bit noisy and at time of writing the shower gives or cold or boiling hot water, but overall we're very happy over here.
Nice pool which allows to relax. Traditional decoration for the rooms but the bathroom is a little bit old. Friendly staff who helped me for my taxi and stuff. 10 minutes away walking from the night market.
The hotel is located on the outside loop road around old Chiang Mai city which means to get to the old city you have to risk your life crossing the outside loop road and the inside loop road, both of which seem to be infested with constant, heavy traffic and unlike Vietnam, pedestrians in Chiang Mai have no right of way. My first night here I stayed in 2nd floor room and got listen to people in room above stomp around and move furniture until 1AM and restart at 6:30AM. The next night I moved to 3rd floor to find that rooms are not as furnished as 2nd floor rooms. Lastly, of the 50 or so rooms I've stayed at the last year, here was the first time I ever had the problem of no COLD water?
Great location near to all the main and busy bits of Chiang Mai. Lovely pool and sun lounging area. Rooms are not very modern at all. You do get a fridge, they're air conditioned and they're clean. Good enough for me! Bathrooms they really do need to modernise. They're looking a bit tired.
