I must begin by saying I cannot fault any of the staff we met during our stay everyone was so nice friendly and helpful. BUT I have to say this hotel is dated and needs a lot of work to bring it up to standard. The changing rooms are disgraceful in fact our local council pools facilities are a lot better than this. The steam Room has two broken seats which look awful and not at all inviting. Our room ceiling was damp and the tiles coming away and then stein if th eBays was very rusty. The food wasn’t bad although the breakfast was cold so I had to ask for it to be heated which they did without delay and one of our evening meals was awful very greasy and so was left totally once again though he was given free cheese and biscuits again can’t fault the staff. We Would go here again but not until it has had the work done that it badly needs
The hotel is easy to find & easy to park at. The room I had did not have enough sockets (2) and they are located by the desk. The desk lamp only works when you have the main light on. On arrival the radiator in my room was not working so the following day I enquired at reception about this, I had to ask 2 days running about this before it was fixed. On the second day they did offer me an electric heater. The swimming pool is the warmest I have ever been in but the showers in the changing room are cold and never get hot. The wifi is good. The food is OK.
We've just stayed at this hotel for 2 nights for my birthday. When I booked I mentioned that we were staying for my birthday and the lady on the phone immediately upgraded us to the bridal suite! Before we left home my wife had read the reviews on here and to be honest I'll admit we were apprehensive of what would be waiting for us at the hotel. We needn't have worried, when we arrived check-in was quick and the receptionist was pleasant and helpful. He took us through what facilities were available and when the restaurant was open for dinner and breakfast. Unfortunately I had forgotten that the hotel had leisure facilities, so neither of us had taken swimming gear and I am unable to comment on the leisure centre. Our room was on the second floor, luckily there was a lift but we still had quite a walk along a couple of corridors. The room was clean and large, with a queen-size bed, which was nice and comfortable. The bathroom was also spotless, although it would have been nice if there was a bit more water pressure from the shower. We could only find two power sockets in the room, so had to unplug the kettle and the lamp to charge our mobiles. We didn't eat in the restaurant in the evenings so I can't comment on the quality of the dinner, but breakfast in the morning was fine. We were greeted each morning by a pleasant lady who seated us and got us tea, and then we helped ourselves to breakfast from the buffet. She was friendly and helpful, with advice on where to go in the area. All in all we enjoyed our stay. The hotel is in a great location and there is loads to do in the area.
We stayed for two nights last week at this hotel with friends. Having read reviews we were not sure what to expect but we're pleasantly surprised! Yes hotel does need refurbishment which has started but it was clean and facilities more than adequate. Food was good both at breakfast and evening meal. Staff as per previous reviews were lovely and very helpful. Hotel good base for exploring Chester and Liverpool and only 5 miles from Cheshire Oaks Designer Shopping Outlet. On advice from staff we booked a taxi to Hilton Rail Station and only paid £5.80 return for two people (with rail card) into Liverpool. Made use of lovely heated swimming pool too. Would have no hesitation in recommending hotel.
Stayed sat through to Sunday room was absolutely disgusting mould on all windows carpets stunk and were so soiled room smelt of damp and mould Foot print on bed sheet that after washing never came of bed linin all on floor Worst hotel it’s a health hazard with all the damp and mould BEWARE LOOK ELSEWHERE I have taken photos of room and am to embarrassed to put them on here minging
stayed here for 3 nights, and found some things good and some bad the restaurant, we ate here 3 mornings and 1 evening, food was hot and great portion sizes, the staff were very good the bar, while the staff were very nice, the bar itself was very understocked, only 2 gins, no bitter lemon, no tomato juice, and when we tried to order a bottle of fizz, we were told that they had none in the hotel as they had been busy, our first room, while it looked very nice, when we tried to settle for the night be found 2 problems, first the pillows they are soooooo thin and offered no support, and secondly the bed , the mattress is very soft and in need of replacing as you could feel every spring, we asked to be moved and they offered us a new room which was good, but who wants to get dressed and move late at night all in all this hotel could be very nice but feel some of the basics are lacking
I spent 3 nights on a recent business trip. A "Superior Double" had been booked; I was extremely disappointed with my first room offering on the ground floor. Smell of damp; mould around the windows, water leak staining on the ceiling, and various gouges in the walls poorly touched over with a lick of mismatching magnolia paint. Upon complaint, my second offering on the first floor was slightly better but still far away from the pictures on the internet of a "Superior Double". There was a lot of dust behind the TV and wardrobes. Still evidence of various gouges in the walls poorly touched over with a lick of mismatching magnolia paint. Bathroom was shabby with enamel chips in the bath and sink with mould around the bath seals. Extractor fan did not work. Little to no hot water from the shower; after speaking to reception they stated that they were aware of the fault and their advice was to "run the cold water from the bath tap whilst running the shower in order to trick the worn mixer seal into letting the hot water flow through the shower head". This worked to a degree but the shower was still not hot enough. The corridors still smelled of pre smoking ban smoke. Restaurant had clean tables but an overall tired look; wooden floor needed a complete sanding renovation to remove dirty and deep surface gouges everywhere. Dusty lighting. I prefer clean and well kept hotels with a hot shower whilst away on business, unfortunately my experience on this occasion that this hotel did not provide this.
Bathroom smells of mould, corridors smell of tobacco. Stayed 2 nights room not cleaned properly dirty glasses and cups left in the room. Breakfast service was awful tea served in coffee percolator without teabags so very very weak food was kept warm under lamps for ages. Complained when I checked out was told this was unacceptable and the duty manager would call me. Still waiting no call yet 3 days later??
This is quite a large hotel, well placed for getting to the North Wales and Chester area. We booked using Buy a Gift voucher (£99 two nights, two people, B/B) into the only "Accessible" room (124), though why anyone would put such a room at the furthest point from the car park, dining room and reception defies explanation! Anyway, although the hotel appears to be in need of some refurbishment, eg our room carpet had a large worn patch, the beds were comfortable and the bathroom (walk-in shower, sink and wc) was clean and fairly modern. The room itself was of reasonable size and had an open wardrobe, desk, table, two chairs and twin beds, though was darkened by a large hedge along the nearby boundary. There should be no problems for wheelchair users The serve yourself breakfast was plentiful and tasty and other meals are available. Generally, the staff were pleasant and we had no complaints about anything. We didn't see the spa facilities.
Our room was comfortable, clean and the bathroom although not a walk in shower the shower over the bath was more than adequate. The reception staff were were very helpful and the dining room well laid out. The dinners were first class and a wide choice of menu, the breakfast were well presented and very well cooked, I even had a runny egg, a very rare beast in a hotel. The staff were warm and very friendly, attentative and very good at not making your meal seem rushed. Good location for both Chester and Liverpool. All in all a very good Hotel which made our stay very happy.
