Booked this hotel with buy-a-gift voucher as it looked great and had pool, sauna and steam room. Confirming my reservation the night before was told my husband and I were allocated an executive room. Ooo I thought how nice not a standard, been given a free upgrade. Arrived and alas!. No I must of misunderstood, must of said non- executive. Whilst the room looked clean, behind the net curtain the mould on the window frame was disgusting. Looked as if it had not been cleaned for 12 months at least. The window was too high to see out of. There was mould on the ceiling in the bathroom and a rusty soap tray in the shower. We all know that mould gives off spores so you should not be near it for health reasons. Next we went for a swim. Disappointed again. The steam room and sauna were not working and the pool was too warm for a good energetic swim. The changing rooms ,awful, so need a reburb. How they get people to become gym members is beyond us. Not being people to complain and only staying two nights we didn't say anything till we left. Told the housekeeper and the man on reception, so we really do hope that they take note, tell the owners and they do something about it for future clients. It lets the Metcure name down. It is the first time we have stayed somewhere of such a low standard. If anyone stays here and sees what we have please do complain on arrival. We should have. The restaurant, bar area, reception and breakfast are fine. I just hope the kitchen was clean. The car park needs re- tarmacing too.
We recently booked to stay overnight at a busy time of year and I stupidly managed booked the wrong night online and turned up to a fully booked hotel at 10pm. The man on reception was outstanding and went out of his way to help us, staying on long after he should have gone home on a Friday night to sort something out for us. The room was lovely, breakfast was good with friendly staff. Would recommend if you need a hotel in the area.
Disappointed in this hotel - not up to the standards that one normally expects from an Accor property. The hotel is tired and very run down in parts. It for the discerning traveller so be warned. Front of house bar and restaurant areas are fine and food is ok. Go nehimd that though and it's all very tatty. Our room showed signs of damp. Needs doing up.
We stayed here with friends for 2 nights recently, check in was a breeze, lunch ordered on the spot, home made soup & finger sandwiches, rooms comfortable ,clean, dinner was lovely if a little limited, a blackboard special might help, staff great very enjoyable stay,
Myself and my husband recently stayed at this hotel for 2 nights our 1st time away without the kids. We booked an inclusive deal and weren't disappointed. Our free upgraded room was very spacious and clean and we were allowed to check in early, we made full use of the indoor pool and sauna which was very relaxing and lovely and warm. The meals we had which were also included were very tasty and well prepared and the waitress Partak was so polite and really made the experience in the restaurant special for us. As part of the inclusive deal when we booked we were entitled to unlimited house wine and beer in the bar on the evenings which made the stay very relaxing the barman Danny was very friendly and made our evenings spent there all the more enjoyable . All the staff we met were very friendly and professional and nothing was to much trouble this included Hannah on reception with her lovely welsh accent when we went to enquire over something. The bar and restaurant have recently been given a make over which makes it feel so much more than the 3 star it describes itself as on the website. I cant comment on all the rooms but ours on the 2nd floor was very modern and clean with plenty of room to relax in, the only slight issue I would say is there are only 2 plugs in the room so if you are charging a lot of phones etc you have to swap them about but we didn't find it an issue and managed fine whilst we were staying there. We had a lovely little break and would definitely go back if the right deal came up again.
We have recently returned from 2 nights all inclusive with 'Great Little Breaks' and overall we had a great time. I did read other reviews before I went and I thought it was better than some had described. Agreed it needs a spruce up and yes they did run out of salmon. The soup lunch fills a hole - it's soup and a sandwich after all. The hotel is in a great location for the Upton Road park and ride into Chester (£2 per person and an excellent service). The staff at the hotel are fantastic and cannot do enough to help you. We were immediately made to feel welcome and everyone was very friendly and warm. It's a good breakfast and the dinner is OK. we had room 312 and it was clean, comfortable and quiet. We both slept really well. You can easily walk into Little Sutton where there are a couple of pubs and some restaurants - not much else there. It was good value for what we got.
We are currently staying in room 313 of this hotel. The lady at reception has called us at least 3 times to say that we are setting off the fire alarm and if we set it off again, we must leave the hotel. I have asked to speak to the hotel manager and been declined, on the basis of them working off site. We have openly offered for them to come and look at our room, even look through our belongings ! I feel threatened and harassed. It is 10pm and I have been threatened that we must leave the hotel, out of no wrongdoing of our own. I am writing this because I have been denied speaking to the hotel manager to resolve the issue in a friendly manner. We cannot find a clear complaints procedure in place after searching online. It is either the night reception staff or the car to drive back home. We are afraid to even move from the bed for fear of the fire alarm going off! Please note, we do not smoke. We never have. We boiled the kettle twice. The first call came 30-40 minutes after we had first boiled the kettle. The second call came as we were boiling. The third time we were sat watching Netflix.
Stayed here August bank holiday Fri & Sat night. We were on an all inclusive package. We had to move rooms 3 times and after unpacking twice because they couldn't fix the faults I was not impressed. Moving forward I was looking forward to dinner after lunch. The lunch soup was very bland I couldn't eat it all and you are very limited to a few sandwich choices. I wanted the Prawn but it wasn't allowed on the ai package. Dinner on the first evening was disapointing. They ran out of Salmon on both nights! I was not impressed with this. When I asked the lovely waiteress said that the delivery hadn't arrived. Why not source it locally then? If you wanted Steak you had to pay a £6 supplement which we did. This was very nice. The drinks package is very good with this package. The room was nice and quiet and Chester is a lovely place. It's good to use as a base. Breakfast was ok nothing to shout about really.
Stayed for 2 nights with friends the hotel really need TLC looked shabby but the staff were lovely. Breakfast was extensive very warm and tasty. Tea and coffee in the rooms and a really nice shower. But it was in the bath and if you were tiny you may have trouble getting in as it is very high. The beds and pillows were comfy I had a good nice sleep and not too much outside noise. The bar was nice a little on the expensive side beer £4.40 pint. We used the pool ,sauna and steam room there is also a gym if you want it. Towels at reception for the pool We had a good stay and would use again
Reasonable value, some careless room issues - cleaning could be better. My boyfriend and I stayed for 1 night as a We booked a room last minute during the bank holiday weekend. I felt if my boyfriend and I had a problem we could approach the staff with ease.
