security was very lax.We stayed 3 nights. On check in I told the front desk the side door did not lock securely,as I was able to gain entrance without a card. When we checked out the problem still existed. The room heater didn't work on the second night. The maintenance man eventually solved the problem.I felt it should never had happened. The workmanship in the room was poor at best.Paint belongs on the walls not the trim.On check in a electrical outlet didn't have a cover plate on it.I felt the staff should have noticed this and taken care of it ,The back stairwell needed a lot of attention and because of the back door access could be gained to the entire building.
BED BUGS ALL OVER THE MATTRESS. BLOOD SPOTS ON SHEETS FROM THE BED BUGS! STAY AWAY! Went in and did the usual check of the mattresses and sheets. Being in the rental industry I've seen it all when it comes to bed bugs. Trust me you don't want to stay here. We checked the bed and immediately left the room. We went right to the front desk and told them what we found, they gave us another room and of course I checked the mattress. AGAIN BED BUGS!!!! we immediately left the hotel in disgust. I should have taken photos but we just wanted out.
We were hesitant to stay there because of a previous experience but we were only staying one night so we gave it try. Sure enough, the rooms are still dated but I have to say it was clean. The only major complaint was the large gap along the length of the room door. You could literally see the hallway through the gap. We had to stuff a towel along the door for privacy. We didn't even bother to report it because of the possibility of getting a room that was worse!
Check in was a breeze! Everyone was friendly from desk, breakfast, maids! Beds were comfortable! Breakfast was great ! Only downfall is they only have double beds ! I recommend this hotel if you are going to Williamsburg! Close to Busch Gardens but out of the way of the hustle and bustle!
I booked through the Busch Gardens Williamsburg website. Package: 3 nights stay, breakfast at hotel, park entrance and 2 meals at the park ( one per person) included. Location: On Water countr PKwy in front of Water Country USA and less than 5 miles one way to Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Room: 2 double size beds, flat screen TV, desk, safe ( see front desk), iron, ironing board, hair dryer, refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. The bed was comfortable. We got a side view of the parking lot. It was quiet. Bathroom sink in the room. Bathroom: Bathtub and toilet. The sink was in the bedroom. Shampoo/conditioner, body lotion and soap provided. Breakfast: Hot. Items: scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, apples, yogurt, toast, bagels, muffins. The first and second days the potatoes were inedible. They tasted rotten. On our last day, I tasted them again and they edible. On one end of the room in front of the entrance hot items and on the other end cold items. I will never pay for that breakfast. The breakfast room is also a restaurant. It needs improvement. It is an old room. Parking: Plenty. Amenities: Washing machine and dryer $2.00 each. I did not use them. No shuttle to Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Outside pool. Basic hotel, poor breakfast.
I have never been so disappointed in a Wyndham property. I travel quite a bit and I think this is the first time I have truly had a name brand hotel try to bait and switch rates on a room. I booked my room on the Wyndham rewards app and received a confirmation for the same. Upon my arrival I was handed my folio to review and sign when it was noted that the rates where almost 40.00 more. When I asked to speak to a manager I was told there was not one and they would be there in the morning. I was asked to initial to agree to the rates which I refused. At that point I was told then “ you won’t be staying here” and the person working stepped aside and went on to help another guest. I was immediately called Wyndham and they said they would file a complaint. Which was fine. It needed to be resolved. I wound up driving an hour to a holiday inn where they had rooms. Moving forward I get an email today from a manager saying there was no charges to my AMEX card. I never used an AMEX card. They didn’t even look into the problem or anything. I’m amazed that Wyndham Rewards allows this hotel to operate this way. I hope everyone finds this helpful. There are many other properties in Williamsburg some with indoor pools that have better rates or will at least match them and are not supporting a piss poor Wyndham property.
I've been here for a night with my friends. The staff was awesome and so friendly and room was clean and nice. Thumb's up! It's really close to the waterparks and still so away from all the hustle. Can't wait to be back!
The hotel felt like it was in the middle of nowhere but is close to the Waterpark and themepark. The staff were very friendly but the lobby looked like it was the only part of the hotel that had been upgraded in the last 15 years. It was a 10-20 minute drive to most places in the area (Yorktown, Jamestown, Colonial Williamsburg) The cleaning service was disappointing as well, trash wasn't even collected. Breakfast wasn't great but there were the traditional hot dishes and a few cold options. It was perfectly sufficient for free, but I'd hesitate to pay the $8.
Loved this location nice & quite kind of tucked away from the hustle and bustle of traffic. Looking forward to returning again real soon.
