Great place for family vacation
Ordered tickets from Orbitz. Then upon checkin, even after telling the front desk we already paid, were double charged for our stay. I figured this out after leaving and contacted a manager immediately. I was informed it could take days to a week before we see the money back in our card. Poor service and communication. This should never happen at any hotel. No microwave in room. Only pool available is at the waterpark, to which you have to pay to get in. No hot tub. No free complimentary breakfast. Very disappointing. Will not be returning. Too many GOOD hotels and parks to visit. You're not missing out! Go somewhere else.
The resort itself was a very family friendly place. Storm Lake is beautiful. But the town itself leaves a lot to be desired.
The room was exceptionally spacious. The staff was very courteous. The Lounge was a lot of fun, and the food was also very good. The only downside, this was new Years Eve, and the water park and restaurant held to their weekday closing hours. The pool closed by 8pm and the restaurant by 10pm. Due to the event, these hours should have been extended.
The hotel was very clean. I was there visiting Buena Vista University, so it was close to my detestation. The Staff Member (Jenna) wasn't the nicest or the most pleasurably person to be around. Gave me a tough time checking in. Leaving the next day,(Wendy) was nicer, but still not very friendly.
After driving 12 hours, we arrived to find that the hotel had no information about our reservation that was confirmed through Orbitz. I understand people make mistakes, but they lady at the front desk continued to blame me and Orbitz for the mistake. At no point did they apologize. I had to called Orbitz and stay on the phone with them for the next hour to get the situation settled. She claimed that they never received the confirmation that we made over a month ago and said I should have called the hotel directly to confirm the reservation. Nowhere on the information from Orbitz did it say I needed to do this. I have made numerous reservations with Orbitz before and never had to do this. If the hotel wants to have a relationship with Orbitz, they need to make sure it works. You can’t just blame the mistake on the customer and your partner. As for the hotel itself…. The walls were paper thin, we could hear our neighbor answer the phone. The water pressure was horrible and the shower was the smallest Ive ever seen. The air conditioner’s lowest setting left the air feeling incredibly humid. All in all, was a good deal for what Orbitz gave us, but not worth the 189 the lady at the front desk said was their lowest possible rate when they lost our prepaid reservation.
Front desk clerk was unaware of [...]and wanted to charge me again for the room. Very poor water pressure.
