It is very nice to have a good restaurant right in the hotel. The breakfast is very good too.
Nice hotel, great location. The hotel is in need of a deep cleaning, especially the Windows and elevator. For the amount of money I paid per night, I would expect more.
Was like an old (but updated) mansion on Lake Superior. Beautiful furnishings and comfortable bed. Included breakfast, which was one of the best we've had. It is a "romantic get-a-way!"
Very clean room and courteous and friendly staff. Food and service was great in the restaurant.
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel it was right on the water and had beautiful views off the deck. I was concerned because the bill they gave us was $25 less than we paid and that is a bit misleading. Overall we loved staying there though.
Everything was excellent!!! Nothing else to say, other than Great Place on a Great Lake.
I travel quite a bit for business and have learned that there are good Best Westerns and not-so-good Best Westerns. This counts among the very good Best Westerns. An old style hotel, comfortable, well-established, good staff, in a nice location. I can recommend this hotel.
I wasn't sure what to expect as there isn't a lot to choose from for hotels in Ashland. The Best Western met and exceeded my expectations. The hotel is older but it's very clean, well appointed and all staff members were courteous and helpful. Additionally, the location is perfect - right on the water, right near downtown. Parking is tight and limited so be aware of that, especially if you're hauling a boat or a trailer. Last note - they have fresh cookies all day long in the lobby. If the jar goes empty, they fill it up....that's how they roll. That attitude permeated every part of my visit from the service to the restaurant to the breakfast. I'll definitely stay there again.
room next to elevator , when checking out the manager asked how everything was & I told him about the noise he turned to his assistant and said "you check him out " then turned his back to me and started talking on the phone. During the night I came to the desk and asked for the location of the vending machines ( there was no signage) , she replied second and third floor, I said where on the floor , she said next to the ice machine. So I then had to ask where the ice machine was located. room had a chair to sit in but no lamp. one light switch to control lamps on each side of bed , located on one side of bed. screw pops in the drywall along one wall. very clean and nicely furnished.
nice clean hotel. recently painted and carpeted. pillow top bed was wonderful. whirlpool suite overlooking lake superior was very large with couch, armoire, chair, desk and desk chair, fridge, microwave. breakfast was pancakes and biscuits and gravy along with fresh fruit and cereal the 1st day and omelettes sausage, pancakes fresh fruit and cereal the 2nd day. 30 minute drive to bayfield for apostle islands cruise, and many orchards with large selections of local wines.
Located right on Chequamegon Bay, this has the flavor of a century old hotel with high ceilings, lobby and parlor with grand antique pieces, and a well furnished breakfast room. Will be back to enjoy this establishment in the summer.
Perhaps put tea bags in the room for those that don't drink coffee (my wife). Breakfasts were nice, we ate there two mornings. We recommend this and will probably be back.
The hotel room was clean, we'll kept and spacious. My daughter and I were visiting Northland College and just stayed overnight. We wish we had more time to explore the area and enjoy the comfort of the hotel.
One day while working I had a realization. My life would not be complete without a visit to the steward of the North, Ashland, Wisconsin. It was clear my quest would not be complete until I was able to travel and find comfortable accommodations. This was the first part my spirit quest and proved to be the most difficult. Most of the local lodging was lack luster and full of horrible reviews. Finding this out was a crush to my morale as I sought out fulfilling my said mission. But alas, a shining beacon of free breakfast and comfortable rooms, the Ashland Best Western. It was a glorious white and pure building that even though was built in 1985 or 1987, looked like it was built at least in 1991. The beds were so plush you couldn't resist instantly fall into the most restful sleep of an infant. The water was hot in the showers and the towels were clean and without the previous guests hair. All good things. This provided the headquarters for my journey where I would learn the greatest lesson of them all.
The hotel was beautiful and the view from both decks was amazing. Plus I was happy to see they had free wireless internet in the hotel. The only "bad" thing I have to say is that the bed was very very firm which I'm not a fan of but that's a personal thing. I would stay here again in a heart beat.
They were very accomodating. When we first arrived we slept in our car all night due to no motels within a 100 mile radious due to events in Wisconsin. Our plans did not work out for Saturday night arragments and thought we could get a room some where but could not.. We arrived at the Hotel at 8am Sunday and check in was not until 3pm. Carrie who helped us said she would help us check in early and would call me. within 1hr she called and we were checked in. I thiught she was outstaning to help us so we could sleep. Our stay was great and can not wait to go back. The Beds were super grat and it was beautiful.
The room was disappointing, Street noise was excessive. The air conditioner was as bad as the street noise. The ice machine in the hallway also ran all night, and could be heard through the walls. The hotel did not live up to my expectations.
