I and my family came from Germany to visit Chengdu. We have stayed in Shangri La- Chengdu , truly a best 5 star Hotel Our stay was very memoriable, unforgetable experience we had in this hotel. Staff at the Reception very friendly, they have given us a warm welcome. At the Breakfast, from Hostess to service girls were excellent. Restaurant F&B manager, Yvonne Liu, jessi Zhou and every one was very friendly, treated us very kindly, they all new what we needed. this was super true hospitaility. we had all together 7 of us. we have really enjoyed the hotels freindlyness, cleanliness, good food, freindly enviorment. Swimming pool attendant/ lifeguards, Gym assiatants, very friendly people. lobby hostess were always helpful. Reservation team Alisa Jia, Clare Li , was very proffessional. Front desk staff are truly good. Our room attendats Ladies 2209,2210.2512 has done a great job. we did not need to ask anything they knew what we needed. Thank you Shangri La Chengdu team. Staff we did not know the names, We will come back again. and will recommend this hotel to all our freinds and families. Because you are the best !!!

I have been in Chengdu Shangri-La several times past 1 year. I Find this hotel as one of the best hotel in china. every one speaks English v well and all staffs are v friendly. they are always willing to help you when ever they can. last week i lost my sunglasses and i asked one of staff to help me out. her name is harika huang. she helped me out to find it. i find her as a good and v friendly and caring staff I really enjoy staying at this hotel when ever i go there maldivian

We arrived @ 11 PM and had to leave @ 6 AM. The room was cool, VERY clean, had nice beds and a great shower and tub. I know these are basics, but we didn't have any other hotels that fit this criteria in China. Also, I don't know anything about location, but I DO know that it was my best nights sleep in a very comfortable bed.

We stayed for 2 nights at this hotel in August. We came with our 2 children to Chengdu especially to see the Panda Bears. We booked a private trip with the Concierge several months in advance. The person who guided us to the panda base was one of the staff members of the concierge department - a pleasant young guy named Jason. Jason was kind and showed us around in the park. He was knowlgable and kind and we had a good time. However, throughout our short stay in this hotel we continued to have difficulties due to bad advice from the concierge department. First, despite the fact that we booked the panda private tour with a private guide and car which was arranged by the concierge of the hotel, they did not bother to tell us that at the time of our visit (during the hot days of August) we should make sure to be in he panda base park early in the morning or we may not see the bears in their outdoors habitat. We learned only after arriving at the panda base at 9:00am, that at around 8:30/9:00 all the bears were already moved indoors due to the warm temperatures in these days. That meant we got to see the bears only behind the glass cages. This meant having to wait in excruciating long lines at warm temperatures which was very unpleasant with our young children. We learned only after leaving thre park (in the evening after discussing with other guests of the hotel) that it's common knowledge and that the hotel should have informed us and made sure we were there early in the morning (or at least let us know in advance that if we would not come early enough we may not see the bears outdoors), which is actually the whole point why we come to this park to begin with. We came all the way to Chengdu from the other side of the world only to see the panda bears and ended up seeing them only (mostly) indoors behind glass walls because the concierge did not properly inform us and made sure we got there early enough in the morning. Second, on our first afternoon after arriving to the hotel, we asked the hotel to recommend a restaurant to us where we could have dinner in the Jin Li Street area of town. The concierge recommended a restaurant to us but they failed to mention that the restaurants in Chengdu do not accept non-Chinese credit cards (such as visa/master card) and that we should make sure to have sufficient cash with us. We came to Chengdu after spending several day in Shanghai where every restaurant/store accepted normal western credit cards so we did not expect to have this problem in Chengdu. There was also no ATM machine that accepted western ATM cards in the Jin Li Street so we ended up having to come back to the hotel without being able to eat out (we did not feel the street food was safe for our 2 small girls). Third, on the second day of our stay we asked Jason from the concierge to recommend to us the "best" hot-pot restaurant. He recommended a place not far from the hotel and we went there for lunch. Upon getting to the restaurant we found out that there was not a single person in that place that spoke ONE WORD of English. That was not such a problem in other restaurants as in many restaurants the menu contains pictures which you can use to point out what you want to order. But in this particular restaurant there was no menu with pictures. Dear Jason and dear Concierge: it is IRRESPONSIBLE to send guests that do not speak Chinese to such a restaurant. A responsible concierge department in a 5 Star hotel should have a list of "safe" restaurants to send non-Chinese tourists and should make sure to warn tourist about such restaurants and make sure to send tourists only to restaurants that are suitable for foreigners. Restaurants that have menus in English or with pictures and at least one English speaking person on staff... Finally, we also found the staff in the hotel restaurants to be extremely limited in their ability to communicate with English speaking guests. When we had dinner at the main restaurant of the hotel, 3 different waiters didn't understand the word "dessert" when we asked to see the dessert menu at the end of our meal. During breakfast we had to ask 8 different staff members numerous times (none of them understood us) that we wanted a bottle of water (for our small daughter to whom for obvious reasons we did not want to give tap water to drink). The hotel provides free bottled water in all the rooms, but in breakfast they did not have them. So if someone wants to drink a glass of water with their breakfast that is very hard to accomplish. Especially because hardly any of the hotel personal serving you during breakfast speak English and those who can speak a word or two have such a limited knowledge of the English language that they cannot understand the meaning of "a bottle of water, please".... We found the English speaking level of most staff members with whom we had to interact in this hotel to be VERY limited and frequently non-existent. The hotel is very poorly located and quite far from the interesting sections of Chengdu.

This is the second time i stay here and very impressive with it. Most people here are so nice and very friendly. Good service, beautiful sight and the best room i have stay ever. The clever boy, his name is Carrot, hotel's bell door. He is very warm and help me much during i stay here.

This is excellent hotel with huge spread in buffet. Service is very good and comfortable stay. You can even enjoy Indian food in Dinner and Lunch buffet. Don't forget to become golden circle member to enjoy welcome fruit basket in the room. Stayed in September 2016 and February 2017. Excellent stay.

Four of us travelled from Australia to Chengdu and we stayed at Shangri-la. Chris helped us a lot during our four nights of stay. He helped us to book the DiDi taxi service as we don't have a local mobile number and he helped us to the fair in advance. we I fell sick, he went to several pharmacies to get me the medicines I need. he helped us at early morning and late night. we really feel that we were treated as a friend and family or a distinguished guests. I offered tips to Chris to thank him and he said that it is his responsibility and he is happy that he can be of assistance. our stay was so pleasant and we thank you Chris for your attentiveness for finding the right massage place for us, for arranging our transportation and help us with all our needs beyond our expectation. we will stay there again in the near future because of your kindness and excellent service. there are many restaurants in and around the hotel. French, Italian, Korean, Local Sichuan food.

I've stayed at the Shangri-La in Chengdu many times and I'm always impressed with the quality of the facilities, the amazing breakfast buffet at Cafe Z, but most importantly by the staff. They are always very courteous and helpful and they work really hard to make guests feel welcome and valued. We were greeted by Janer Wang, who is a top-notch ambassador for this great hotel. She always ensures that my stay is enjoyable and restful. The concierge staff are also very helpful in setting up activities or tours or even just getting a cab to the right destination. And the staff of Cafe Z do an incredible job taking care of guests at the excellent breakfast buffet. If your travels call for a stay in Chengdu, this hotel should be your first choice!

Jason wang An tom cen from the concierge was very helpful An kind to us. Very informative.suggested some good places to go too, An some local cuisine to try, got us bicycles from outside that we ride around the city on an there English was easy to understand.

First time in Chengdu and Shangri-La has made it a memorable stay. The Concierge team in particular was very helpful - high fives all round! Special thanks to Tyler for giving us an amazing tour of the panda research base, George and Jason for arranging our panda hugging experience, and Sam for taking us on a sightseeing drive around the city. Highly recommended hotel with top quality service, expert guidance and very friendly staff!
