The Lynden Pindling International Airport (NAS), formerly known as Nassau International, is the airport for all domestic and international flights to Nassau. It is the largest airport in the Bahamas, located on the island of New Providence, and is a major hub for Bahamasairalong with multiple flights for British Airways. While the airport is smaller than most major airports, it is busy with multiple Nassau flights as well as connecting flights all over the Caribbean. It offers only basic amenities for travelers, and lacks a direct public transport such as a train since it is separated from the city of Nassau by Lake Killarney. To get to Nassau you must hire a taxi or rent a car and take Windsor Field Road to West Bay Street, then travel east.
Nassau Weather
The best time to plan flights to Nassau is any time outside the rainy season: winter. Like many tropical climates, there are only two seasons: "Beautiful", which runs from May through September and "Rainy Sometimes", which is from October to April. You will not notice drastic changes in temperature with winter averaging about ten degrees cooler than summer. The biggest concern when considering Nassau flights is hurricane season, which can interrupt travel. It lasts from the end of June to November.
Getting Around Nassau
It is easy for the visitor to get around the city of Nassau with many taxis outside the resorts or hailed off the street, and buses that run around downtown to Cable Beach. Ferry boats run between Paradise Island and Nassau all day long and only take about ten minutes. Taxis are the most expensive option, with buses being the cheapest mode of transportation. Taxis are not regulated like in many countries so you may find different prices from various taxi drivers, who often charge per person and for extra baggage. You can also rent cars and motor scooters, but beware driving on these crowded (tourist-full) roads, they can be a troublesome. You might find walking to be quite pleasant here, along with personal bicycle tours.

People in Nassau are very laid-back and friendly. They often get visitors involved in activities such as dancing to local music. There are seventeen different stretches of beach in Nassau where the water stays warm year-round. The daytime is relaxing with plenty of activity at night. You can rest after arriving after Nassau flights and be ready for entertainment that night in a luxury hotel.

Nassau When to Go
Nassau is warm and muggy year round; temperatures from September through May average in the mid-70s. However, like elsewhere in the Caribbean, hurricane season runs its course from June through November. As a result, many hotels and resorts shutter their doors in late summer and early fall; this closing period usually lasts from the end of August through mid-October.
Thanksgiving kicks off the most popular travel time in the Bahamas, which begins with a Battle 4 Atlantis NCAA college pre-season basketball tournament, followed by Bahamas Speed Revival Week and the annual Bahamas International Film Festival. High season continues through Christmas and January and February, when travelers in the United States need to escape the cold winter months, and lasts through the end of spring break period in April.
The most celebrated occasion in the islands, Junkanoo falls the day after Christmas each year. Junkanoo is the national celebration of the Bahamas and is one colorful soiree that originated during the days of slavery and includes African dance, music, and costumes galore.
