This hotel is located 5-10 minutes from the interstate located on top of a hill. It's exceptionally quiet and you will hear absolutely no road noise. The young gal (Taylor??) at checkin was not the most welcoming after a long day. The morning staff was super friendly and stopped by each table while having breakfast to see how things were going. Our room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. I guess Residence Inn no longer does a light supper during the week but there was a dessert bar with cobbler, ice cream, fruit and sodas. The reason I'm giving it a four rating is there are no restaurants nearby. You have to drive back to the interstate to find one. After driving 700 miles, we weren't very happy to get in the car again to go out to eat.
You can tell parts of this hotel have been renovated--which is good. The breakfast area and lounge is nice. The breakfast had these burritos which were very good and had a better waffle bar than other Marriotts. I think the elevator is slow and quite a bit of walking to hotel rooms. Slightly disappointed that each time I went to the front desk (total of 3), no one was ever standing there. I always had to wait a bit for someone to show. Overall, it was a fine Marriott.
This hotel is a little off the beaten path but is a great place to stay. The rooms and the bathrooms are very clean which is very important to us.The suites and bedroom units are very well equipped and for the most part are very quiet. The staff is usually very helpful. The breakfast is great and the hotel provides take out boxes for a snack while on the road. We have stayed here many times and will definitely go back again!
Spent 9+ months with the great staff at the Residence Inn, Charleston, W.V. As a full time business traveler, a 100% Marriott customer and a Residence Inn junkie, I can say with some assurance this is one of the best properties in the Marriott Brand. By week 2, the management, front desk staff, housekeepers, kitchen and servery staff all knew my name. I use the remote check in and check out apps, and my longest wait to check in was around 30 seconds. This over the course of many months of weekly travel. Not once was a request or need unmet. Not once was I not greeted personally and warmly by every member of the staff. Greg, the manager, has built an exceptional team and the commitment to quality and service that he has brought to this facility is glaringly obvious in every interaction with the associates of the RI Charleston.
Nice hotel and about what you would expect from a residence inn. Rooms were spacious and clean. No issues with hotel staff. Decent breakfast with a couple healthy options. They do a couple evening mixers which is nice. Would stay again. Only complaint is that it's not really central or good for walking.
Great place...clean, friendly, nicely kept, and all around a winner. Glad we stayed here, and if our stay is indicative of how they treat everyone, you should stay here. We had a two bedroom suite, and everything was just super.
The hotel is clean and modern, however the power went out shortly after 11pm and did not return until 1:30 am. To our amazement there was no emergency lighting in the hall ways. We had to use our cell phones to navigate as it was pitch dark. No apologies for the inconvenience were made during check out which was disappointing. Also, we reserved a 2 bedroom suite and according to the room description it would have a fireplace. Unfortunately upon questioning at check out we were advised that the fireplaces are only on the second and third floor.
Seated high atop a hill is this residence inn. Be careful approaching it because you may miss the entrance. Once you do find it, you'll discover a heated pool, a very yummy breakfast, and exceptionally clean rooms. I would certainly stay again.
One night stay after a very rainy, foggy day traveling. The room was very comforting. Great bed. Quiet room. Ample parking. Free breakfast was just so so. Like a hotel with more restaurants close by. Not so much here. Didn't feel like driving any more. Ordered a pizza for delivery. Not so good.
A family member booked this hotel for us while we were in town for a wedding. We called during our drive in and asked if our room would be ready early (wedding started near check-n time and we were afraid we wouldn't have time to get dressed), they told us no problem. Room was ready at 130. We were given a 2 bedroom suite. Had 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, livingroom and kitchen. Such a great room for our family. Very comfortable. Clean. Had everything we could have needed. After our event we came back and watched movies and ate the popcorn that was given in our room. Beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows. The next morning we went down for the complimentary hot breakfast and it was great! Made waffles for the kids, eggs and oatmeal for us. Only issue was that it was an hour before breakfast was over and everything was starting to run out. No gravy for biscuits, bacon was empty, eggs starting to get cool. Loved this hotel! We will definitely stay here again when visiting WV.
