I am truly sorry that i can not mark this hotel as 4.5 stars. The hotel is located in the city center and nearby their park and we arrived to this hotel after a long day of driving. I must say that it was a bit difficult for us to locate this hotel and to navigate it by car. The reception was very quick and pleasant and we went to our rooms. One of the hotel's employee took our car to park it (this time it cost us 23 Eur per day). Our room was large and comfortable with a nice bathroom. The bed were comfortable and had soft pillows. Since this hotel was in the city center, we use this opportunity to do some shopping. In addition, there is a major park nearby, a wonderful place for relaxing. Highly recommended.
Wonderful front desk staff. Beautiful building in excellent location. Room comfortable but bit small. Good restaurant meals. Understand it is the best hotel in the city but had hoped for more as the property needs to be refreshed.
It's a shame to rate 3 stars to such an iconic property. I know this hotel since many, many years, I remember when my dream was to stay there and feel like royalty. Since then, I became older and so did the hotel. Some previous management company removed typical 5 star services and it all feels like declining. Nevertheless, the rooms are still perfectly suitable, providing you like the style. But, at least me, I feel it could do much better. I think the whole thing needs a full renovation, including bedding which we found out-dated when comparing to modern international hotels. Location is unbeatable in the city, no doubts about it, and the whole thing is very serene. Bars and lobby felt deserted during our stay, and we didn't enjoy breakfast since we were invited to a private one at another place. Staff was nice and welcoming, but not as many as I though ther would be. No doorman, bellboy, valet parking and so as there used to be. Overall, we enjoyed but felt deceived.
We had a horrible night at this 5-star hotel. We got to the room after a long day of travel just to find a series of stains on one of the bed sheets. These stains were placed where you usually place your legs and so we wouldn’t have spotted them if it weren’t for the fact the AC in the entire hotel wasn’t working that night and we had to take off the covers for relief from the heat. We immediately called the front desk reception and they sent in two employees to replace the sheets while we were in our PJ’s. The morning after I spoke to the manager of the hotel and I was surprised to find out she didn’t know about the whole ordeal. We showed her a couple of photos and she kindly apologized for the incident. She then said employees got their blood withdrawn a few days before and that blood might have been dripping from an arm while making the bed. I have never experienced anything similar in any 5, 4, or 3-star hotel I’ve stayed in. The manager offered a 50% discount for our one-night stay but that didn’t change the reality of the nightmare we went through. The lobby is a must-see while in Oviedo but the way this hotel is run is a total disaster.
Our first impression was not terrific as when we arrived by car to the off street entrance no one came to the car to assist with our luggage and after checkin no one offered to assist with our bags to the room. The building is as other writers have noted, very grand and the public spaces are large and beautifully decorated. Our room was lovely and the bed was fine and the bathroom clean and functional. We stayed for three nights but did not select the breakfast as you can get much better in the little cafes across the road for a quarter of the price asked by the hotel. Or comments on Tripadvisor regarding "first impressions" must have been noted as the reception staff asked if we needed assistance with our bags from our roomiest prior to us checking out- well done! We used the hotel valet parking for 20 euros per night and when we wanted the car brought up it was attended to immediately by very friendly staff. The hotel is well located and easy to locate if driving.
The hotel is located in the center of the city, with professional and flawless service in a classic building and stunning premises. The service is personal and certainly you know what to expect. The room is spacious with amenities that are expected for this category.
Although the Reconquista is a Eurostar hotel, it is in a landmark historic building and is like one of the Parador hotels. The palatial lobby that looks out to a majestic courtyard makes it even more worthwhile to stay here. I did find the furnishings, the carpet, and the fabric-covered walls in the hallways to be a bit dated and in need of upgrading. My room looked out to the street and I remember having some difficulty setting the desired temperature on the digital climate control panel. Nevertheless, I had a comfortable, undisturbed sleep here during my two night stay. Service was attentive and straightforward. Parking is available free of charge in an underground garage. The sumptuous buffet style breakfast is 20 EUR extra. The hotel is located a short walk from the main shopping promenade and the historic part of town. I highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Oviedo.
Booked with some trepidation because it was eighth of the list in Oviedo various references to faded grandeur. Couldn't really understand it, only a little wear on the stair carpets was the only evidence we could find of fading, other than that it was semi-stately home style. Baronial feel to the massive indoor courtyard foyer, adequate-sized room. Obviously a hub of Asturian elite activity, staff very friendly and obliging, breakfast lacking nothing in very pleasant surroundings and straight out into the heart of town with shops, sites and park within easy walking range. Completely recommended. Very good value as well.
The Reconquista Hotel was a wonderful experience. Fantastic Service and very well locate it in the heart of old Oviedo. We highly recommend it. The beds were very comfortable and the breakfast out of this world!
A majestic hotel in a prime location! We were greeted with friendly, professional and quick check in. Our car was parked in the underground parking by their doorman. We stayed in room 143 which was close to the elevator but easier taking the stairs. Beautiful roses greeted us in the room and a box of chocolates left at nighttime was a pleasant surprise. Modern bathroom with toiletries and amenities to use. This hotel breathes historic opulence. There is a magnificent courtyard and a grand sitting area in the lobby to relax. Buffet breakfast had an assortment of food choices and umbrellas were left at the front doors to be borrowed if needed. Their location is prime for sightseeing, shopping and eating.
