Nice location, but this is a very noisy hotel. Guests are allowed to run around in corridors drunk all night without any check by staff. If you don’t speak Spanish forget this place as the staff will basically ignore you. Walls are thin so your get lots of noise from other guests
Awful noisy hotel with no value for money. Poor accommodation with thin walls, poor service (especially in the restaurant), old furniture. In some rooms, the window goes out directly to a parking spot and hotel laundry, what is unbelievable. Never again!!! And yeah. If you wanna choose this hotel because of the swimming pool, don't do that. it's not worth it. The water there is constantly cold, the sun never reaches it, and there are no sunbeds. And poor accommodation on top of that. The worst experience we ever had.
We found this restaurant for coincidence and we love it. Is a nice place with traditional décor as many of the restaurants in Oaxaca. The food selection is really good and you can try many of real Mexican food. The price quality and quantity is great.
The hotel is in a great location, close to everything. You will get all the necessities given your budget. The hotel does seem like it is an older hotel, but it is clean nonetheless. We had no AC in our room only a ceiling fan, BUT that was enough to keep us cool. We took out one year old and our three year old, they didn't seem to mind. The room wasn't as roomy as others, but is was enough for the four of us. If you are planning to stay in the room all day, you may want to pick something else, but if you plan to use it to shower, rest a bit and sleep at night...it's not a bad place to pick. The staff is courteous. it was safe enough for my girls. If you don't go in with a mindset of staying at a five star hotel, this place will suffice, the price met our needs as well as the location and safety.
You can find a better hotel at this price, the rooms are smaller than they appear, there is no good ventilation, and just a fan in the room, bathrooms are really small and have dampness, we stay for 5 night and for 4 nights there was plastic all over the floor, with no reason. There are no outlets to charge things. They always clean the room really late. The worst experience not worth it!!
I have to be careful to not let two days of rain colour my judgement on this hotel. Located two blocks from the zocalo and markets, the hotel is colonial style, and I believe what it termed "listed" in the UK - ergo, little work can be done to it. Nevertheless, I don't believe this can be the sole cause of some of the issues. Our room was stuffy, with one window overlooking the multi-storey car park next door; no aircon, just a ceiling fan. Very limited power points, so do make sure you bring your own multipoint adaptor. WC seat broken. Only one water and one glass in a double room...... Building works going on replacing the lift. Many of these things I can accept while not liking - what I refuse to accept is the surly attitude of the staff at breakfast. I may be considered a "gringo" to some, but if you're working in the service industry, I don't expect blatant ignoring and being made to feel I'm having a favour done. Maybe it was the weather, maybe it was simply the wrong career choice for the 3 - 4 staff lounging around. I'm sure with some remedial work (maintenance) and some staff retraining it will be good, as the hotel itself is beautiful, and as I say, well located. Do take a walking city tour, takes about 3 hours and is well worth it. Based on experience, I would consider another hotel were I to return to Oaxaca.
Brilliant location - 5 minutes walk to the zocola and surrounded by craft and art boutiques. But thats where the good stuff ends. Our room had no window and only a ceiling fan. the pool was a large bath next to the reception and the food was poor. I have to disagree with many reviewers in Oaxaca, which prides itself on being a foodie place the menu here is unimaginative and poor. Service is also patchy depending on who you get. There are much better places to stay in Oaxaca and certainly many good to great places to eat.
Great hotel! The best part about this place is the service. We've had Solares Villalobos Jose David "Kapitan' as our waiter/anything you need guy. He is outstanding, very kind and goes above and beyond for any request. If he isn't the manager, he would make a great one! Give the guy a promotion! Overall great experience - come and visit!!!
The hotel has good location , prices on the search look better than what really was offered once you are there, the rooms had a máximum of 4 persons, and one of the reasons of my stay was the pool for the kids, but was very , very cold, not able really to be used. The personal had good treatment and its clean. There are not electrical conections next to the bed so you can leave plugged your computer meanwhile you work.
very well placed hotel just a few blocks from the Zocalo, cathedral, museum and music square. smart traditional style with small swimming pool, technically outside. own restaurant and bar on top floor in the sun. rooms are comfortable but few rooms have outside view, rooms look onto internal light wells. sounds carry at night but area quiet. small bathroom, walk in shower. TV, hairdryer, safe, free Wi-Fi. lots of stairs - lift out of order.
