Great location, big rooms, the room exists old furniture, medium clean level, very good wifi, friendly team, rich breakfast, the pool was closed because its not the season, five minutes walking from the central train station.
The Capsis hotel is located in a gritty area of the city with major road renovations, however it is an easy walk to the main attractions. The room was pleasant and clean and there was no noise from the outside. The reception team were pleasant and helpful and we appreciated the 70s look of the public areas. The breakfast is plentiful however not all items are high quality. The juice and coffee need improvement as do the eggs, the croissants (we didn't want to try) and the replenishment of items at peak. We used the private parking for our rental car which was convenient (8 euro per day). Was too chilly to check out the pool. The wifi was temperamental. All in all, good value for money and better than we had expected.
This hotel was clean and the breakfast buffet was nice, but otherwise staying there was kind of a creepy experience. It seemed designed to cover the basics, but lacked all warmth and charm. The beds were like cardboard with springs and the sheets were like a thick paper - very difficult to sleep comfortably. The bathroom was smaller than one on a cruise ship. The sink was a bowl only that was about 10-14 inches. No other space for personal items except one tiny shelf about 4" x 12". There are no bars or bottles of soap - only a wall dispenser that can be reached from the sink or the shower. The shower had only a handheld shower head with no ability to raise and lock the shower head higher up. It just felt like a hotel designed for travelers trying to travel cheaply, but who were suspected to likely to steal things. We felt a bit like cattle herded into our little corral and not guests in what TripAdvisor has listed as a 4 rating. Maybe that's all there is in Thessaloniki? That could be the only reason for a rating of 4. Find someplace else if you can!
This was my third stay at the Capsis Hotel, and the worst of all. The reception staff were very kind and helpful, I have nothing bad to say about them. It is about the room and the sleeping. It was full of mosquitoes and they kept me awake for almost all night despite I tried to deal with them. Each time I was in bed, covered to the head, I heard them buzzing around me. It was warm and I didn't cover my whole body. I was asleep for 20 minutes but again awoken by the mosquitoes, and then I saw my hands and shoulders were bitten by them. I turned on the lights, I turned on the air-conditioning, but I couldn't deal with those nasty insects. A sleepless night - that was the result. Breakfast was not as it was before - there was not a great variety of food, and the drinks were of a very poor quality. I am not going to stay there again and I do not recommend this hotel despite I have written a great review of it in the past.
The hotel is not far from the city center and the swimming pool&area are very nice even if it was to cold to use it. The spa is also very nice, excellent massage. I'd like to thanks to the reception staff , especially Fanny and Maria that there were very professional and helpful , always smiling.
Hotel would have been amazing in its time but its a bit tired now in décor, but ok location 15-20mins to Port through central city which isn't pretty but its not bad either. We taxi'd it back at nights as it felt unsafe but didn't have any issues. Price and service is good and the pool is excellent (good size and clean) - great place to have a drink after a night out and excellent bar staff. Worth getting the larger room.
best regards and good service From being able to stay here until you have a great time with your family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the event of the day and I will be able to make sure that I can do that.
very good quality of service. The breakfast is very good and you have lots of choices. Room was cleaned everyday. A handy phone was always available make unlimited international calls, very impressive.
Is well located if you arrive to the train station, just about 200m, on the other hand is not the best area on the city to sleep, however the city have a good transport system and you can reach the center in 15 minutes by bus or even less. The hotel itself is not bad, but is not the best, personal is kind and dare to help, rooms are fine and clean enough
We stayed here only two nights and it was included in our tour deal . We know it's under 100 US dollar per night . Our room was 328 . Rather a big hotel, oldish but renovated : large public areas , lobby , convention halls etc. Nice corridors with art pictures on the walls but no aircon . Huge breakfast room , with very good breakfast buffet . Rooms are big enough and clean , cozy and pleasant . Although bathroom is not small , tub is old , no sliding glass door to close it so the floor gets wet . AirCon - not central but individual effective unit (that started dripping at three a.m. ) , Folding curtain needs fixing . With a little bit of attention to details - the room can be perfect. Some of the rooms are for smokers . indicate your preference when you reserve . Reception staff service - welcoming and attentive . Roof top small swimming pool with a bar . A small but nicely equipped gym , free . Location : Once the road works around the hotel will be over - maybe the area will look nicer . But : there are convenient bus stops near by , a few local restaurants , and about 15 minutes walk to the old quarter Ladadika , where you may find a lot of trendy good and touristic restaurants . (look at my separate restaurant reviews). Overall stay - very good .
