We spent one night there. It was comfy. The buffet dinner is good .The hotel was nice and relaxing.Unfortunately we were just passing through so we didn' t have too much time for sightseeing. The rooms are good.
We were a group of 15, most of us Greek, having been born outside of Greece but visited many time, I thought my cousins would like to see Greece at it's best, since none of them have ever been there before. I had an wonderful itinerary planned for everyone, 5 star hotels throughout our stay, UNTIL WE GOT TO THE CAPSIS, other then the staff, Fanny and Kostas at the front desk ( WERE WONDERFUL ) there is nothing at all that resembles a 4 or 5 star establishment, HOT,MOLD EVERYWHERE, SMELLY STALE CIGARETTE SMOKE, I REPEAT HOT, no AC in halls, barely in the rooms and lobby, the smallest rooms I have ever stayed in, old weathered beds and furniture. VERY MISLEADING WEBSITE!!
The hotel was one of the best in the town but the total image that we had was not as good. The facilities in the room was of low quality, t.ex. Bathroom, air condition, beds. The breakfast of very low quality, service and organization, as well as cleaning status. The zonenof the hotel is not the best of the city but that was ok if u use tye taxi for your moving in the city. The personal at the desk for the check in and out was very good though! Kind and very helpfull.
The staff was generally friendly but slow. Rooms had a good size and were ok cleaned. The pool was a bit worn out with kind of a plastic material instead of tiles. The area is dull with a lot of condemed buildings and the main road right in front of the hotel.
Hotel is in a bad spot with unfinished road and rail works. According to the locals they started excavating 9 years ago to build a metro and left it that way. The hotel is quite large and the rooms ample (we had connecting rooms for us and our children). The pool area has a nice setting but what spoils it is they allow every Voula, Soula and Toula to come in and ends up being overcrowded for the hotel guests (poor policy). The reception staff are very professional. The breakfast is very good. If you are on a budget then it should suit well.
My girlfriend and I booked this hotel last minute as we were flying off the island of Kos due to the earthquake between Kos and Bodrum. The value for money is very good we couldn't be more impressed with the Pool and Reception staff who were very friendly and helpful every time we needed assistance with anything. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay within the city of Thessaloniki.
The double room was definately big enough for the two of us. We didn't even use all the space we had to store our luggage. Of course there is a flatscreen tv, but we only used it once in the eight days we were there, because when there was time, we went to the pool on the rooftop. From the rooftop you can alsmost see the whole city. The service at the pool, restaurant and the rest of the hotel is fantastic. If you need help or if you want something, just ask and they will try to help you as good as they can. The hotel is near the trainstation. To Aristotle Square it's like a 20 minutes walk. Overall a very good hotel and I really enjoyed my stay there.
I stayed here for four days with my family. We booked two rooms one triple and one double and they were great. The rooms were clean as well as the bathrooms. The staff were very friendly but I was really surprised by the huge variety of the excellent breakfast!! The hotel was almost full the days we were there and I must congratulate the staff at the restaurant on their hard work in order to keep the breakfast buffet always full. Thank you! We will definitely come back!!!
We were a group of 8 (2 families of four with kids ages 7,8,13 and 15). What really drew us to the Capsis was the pool. We realized that the area around the hotel wasn't great but it was close to everything and the kids would love a swim. We were SEVERELY disappointed in the pool. It was so cloudy you could only see the second rung of the ladder and it was a light green color. There was no way I was letting our kids swim in that. The deck and bar portion were great and you had wonderful views. We essentially booked this hotel for the pool and we all felt the pictures online were absolutely deceiving showing a crystal blue pool. We first stayed in room 502, a junior suite. Upon entering it looked nice with lots of space but there was an odd aroma. This smell gradually intensified until I woke up due to the smell of sewer gases. It was really strong in the bathroom drains. It was disgusting. We then moved to rooms 401/402 and they didn't smell of sewer gas, which was a positive, but somehow you just felt that the place wasn't clean. It is walking distance (10 to 15 minutes) to the shops and restaurants, which is good but the area around the hotel is awful. Overall, I was excited to get out of the place. I would not recommend this hotel.
I stayed here in July 2017 for 7 nights. Although the area the hotel is in is not ideal, the facilities are excellent. The rooftop pool and bar was undoubtedly the best amenity, particularly in the hot weather. The view is fabulous and the food available at the rooftop bar was of a reasonably good standard, if not somewhat expensive in comparison to local restaurants. Breakfast was relatively basic but there was a large selection of items available. However, the hotel were very particular about bringing food onto the premises, even if it was a lunch to bring on a day trip which I found frustrating. The room was clean and comfortable and felt very secure despite being a little noisy as my room was situated opposite the service exit for cleaning staff. Location is about a 15 minute walk from the city centre proper but is easily a walkable distance although a little further from the nicer downtown areas. Hotel also has a spa and gym which I did not avail of but overall a very comfortable stay - would recommend.
