You're swept away by the beautiful music playing in the stunning lobby. The restaurant staff seems like a well orchestrated ballet. Fabulous waitstaff. Five star. The lady who checked me in was very charming. Poised. Gracious. My room was a serious letdown. I gave ample time the following day to address the old carpet stains and the shower that was plugged and not draining. By 8:30 at night that had not been handled. It was not a fit for me. I was concerned to not be held to my original 4 night reservation. I was told by the man innkeeper I could leave. Now. He didn't 'have a staff of a hundred' ########.......to ensure me a spotless rug.... there was more... Very shocking, jarring, not PC. Did I HAVE a home???? Then...... "Go back now!" He was beyond beyond. She remained composed the entire time. It was a very intense, unpleasant conversation that was extremely rude, explosive, uncomfortable. Stunned, I was able to find accommodations immediately, and left. Presented my $163 bill for that one night. Never in my life of working for Starwood, and then Marriott for two decades had I dealt with such standards. It seems that there's a need to catch up, and what I sense is total Overwhelm. I was determined to reframe my experience of the first time stopping in Chester,Vermont. It seems the massive flood in July took a toll here, and there's the root of stress sensed in town. Hoping all residents regain their balance. Lovely restaurant. Don't recommend Inn

Price was right, but property was tired.

Quaint and the pub was a plus - accommodating - the room was a little too HOT with radiators but that’s something with old Inns maybe to expect loved it

No TV. Later check in than I'm use to. No room service. The room was verycomfortable

The room had no TV to block out the sound of the guy snoring next door. However it did have a mildew laden rag stuffed under the back of the toilet so there's that. Prepare to be judged by an angry looking woman sitting in a chair staring you down upon check-in and grilled with interrogation style questions by a guy that shouldn't be handling customers. The same people will scoff at you when you walk back downstairs to walk next door to a real restaurant. Bar closes whenever he feels like it (before 7pm) on a weekend which is fine.. but the idiots response upon asking about the bar is the main reason for the review. Find another line of work, guy. Also the breakfast is not on par with a BnB. Waffle machine. Cereal. The end. Stay at a real BNB.

I rented two rooms at the inn for 4 nights in December. Overall, it was a great experience. I read the reviews before booking - so I knew what to expect. It's old. It's for people who want the B & B experience with extras like a bar & lounge, full service restaurant and breakfast every day. It is centrally located in Chester with restaurants and shops within walking distance. It is a great value for the money and I would stay there again. Food at the Fullerton was excellent. We ate several meals and ordered appetizers and drinks too. Also recommend The Free Range (a short stroll away) and Mojo in Ludlow.

we only stayed for one night. The host at the desk seemed a little too brusque when we checked in, almost as if we were bothering him. the room was small but adequate. For some reason there was a strong smell of smoke on the second floor even though there were no smoking signs on the door.

Wonderful "Pure Vermont" hotel experience. Roaring fireplace, toasty steam radiators in the room.Huge corner bedroom was great. Updated bathroom an unexpected plus!!

First, I apologize that you did not enjoy your stay here with us. Next, I would like to assure those reading this that we do not have "mildew laden rags" stuffed behind our toilets. Our Tavern is open past seven and on weekend evening it is always open until 9 pm. Our "interrogation style questions" are really earnest attempts by (probably the owners) us to determine if there is anything we can do to assist you. We are trying to be helpful. And the breakfast consists of yogurt, fresh cut fruit salad, juices, fresh made muffins and scones, bagels, cereals, coffees and teas and the waffle maker with local Vermont maple syrup. Most people think it is lovely. By-the-way, I am Bret and my wife is Nancy and we are here everyday trying to make the Fullerton Inn better and attending to each customer.
