TOP KHR Stadthotel

We stayed a week in the Stadthotel during summer season. The neighborhood is a good choice. Two blocks from Altstadt but in a quiet area. Also, two nice Mexican restaurants are two blocks nearby and more options for dinner can be found within three to five blocks. The staff was really helpful and cheerful. The rooms are big but have two issues. The first one is that the sun wakes you up at 730 am because blackouts are not large enough to cover the light. The second (and won't blame the hotel on this because hot days are just some weeks in the whole year) is that no AC is installed. Hence, it is impossible to be in the room during day hours. It is important to note that the breakfast is incredible!!! Hence, we recommend staying in the Stadthotel but being aware of the lack of AC

I stayed at Stadthotel Freiburg for 4 nights, from 25 - 29 April 2017. I was one of a group of 8 people. We had all booked our rooms and paid for them in full in January, so the hotel knew of our visit and had had our money for 3 months before our stay. The hotel is in a good location, but their customer care belies the claims made on their website. We were allocated rooms which were effectively in the middle of a building-site. There was banging, drilling and knocking throughout the day, so we were unable to rest in our rooms. The WiFi worked in public areas, but not in the rooms themselves. There were cables hanging out of the ceiling in the hallway and it was permanently dusty from the building work. There were no instructions for emergency evacuation. My room was on the second floor and looked out onto a blank wall (about a metre away) that was covered in scaffolding which had workmen passing along it between the wall and my window, using the windowsill as a table. So I had to keep the curtains closed all the time. I complained to Reception, but was told that nothing could be done because the hotel was full. I wrote to the Hotel after my return and got a reply that was full of explanation, but offered no compensation for our disappointment and inconvenience. Of course hotels need to renovate regularly and they cannot close down while this is being done, but they could restrict their offer of rooms to those that are not affected by the building work and let their guests and potential guests know that work will be going on during their stay. We had looked forward to our visit and were disappointed by the accommodation and the attitude of the hotel. They had taken our money , but expected us to put up with the effects of their building work, without warning and without apology. In the light of my experience I would not recommend this hotel. A pity, because the location is very convenient. Gwyneth Morgan, UK

Good large hotel but very small room. Quite neat and well organised. Too sad no breakfast included. No parking available. Staff are friendly but need to persuade if you need some help. Over all ok. Quite close to the central market and black forest mountain which is just about 7 min walk.

Stayed for 2 nights on a business trip recently. The hotel is an a very convenient location, a short walk to the city centre and historic parts of Freiburg. There is a metro stop just around the corner so access to the main train station is very easy. A taxi from the train station only costs around €8. The hotel room was a good size with a comfortable bed. There were blackout blinds on the windows too. Restaurant serves good food at a reasonable price and all the staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. Would definitely stay again if in town.

This hotel is very tired and could do with a refit. The room was very small and due to the angel of the roof, half of the headroom was missing. The shower was tiny with a terrible leak that end up coming out of the bathroom and into the bedroom itself. There also a terrace advertised and as it was a nice night, we went out and hit the button for service... After 10 minutes with nothing I closed the door to find opening times but also a 'danger building site'.. This should have been closed! It may have been the same building work, but we were awoken at 0700 with drilling outside the room and not told of this.

This hotel is just north of what used to be the old city (bombed badly in WWII), but still very pleasant. Alos near to the science part of one of the best Universities of Germany. The rooms are efficient, clean and confortable, and the breakfast buffet is very good and ample.

We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights and we enjoyed good hospitality. Staff was excellent. Though room and Bathroom was small with respect to the tariff we paid but it was very well equipped and very neat and comfortable. Breakfast was good and our request for our choice of food was honored. Really a nice place to stay.

Best place near downtown... i think it was around 200m to Kaise-Joseph-Strabe where many shopping malls located. Also the super markets such as Aldi, Edeka, Rewe, Karsdart. Deuchmann, Foot locker, H&M.... everything is there... lost of restaurants & bakeries around. If you need to travel, best is to get to the tram station Siegesdenkmal. Can buy the train tickets from hotel. only Euro 7.50 in taxi from the Freiburg main station to the hotel. Looking at the bad side, rooms are very small... when the luggage was kept, it was pretty difficult to walk in the room. Computer table was so small & I really missed my email & office work. Bathroom, specially the cubicle was EXTREMELY was so hard to have a bath. overall it was a pleasant stay.. very helpful staff, good breakfast, everything clean & nice. Note - all shops close at 8.00pm so do your shopping early. restaurants open till 11.00pm.

Visiting Freiburg for just two days and have been very pleased with this hotel. Location is a short distance from the train station and 3-4 minute walk to Munsterplatz and the city center. Be sure to visit the open market at Munsterplatz. Hotel rooms were small but very clean and recently renovated in a contemporary design. I would definitely stay here again.

The rooms and bathrooms are insanely tiny. The beds weren't as comfortable as one might expect for the price. Clean, nice location, friendly staff, but I doubt I would stay again, nor recommend the hotel
