This hotel was a favorite that fell down for a while, and is now back to being a great stay. Clearly there is a new housekeeping staff, and the office staff is a great mix of dedicated veterans and new folks who are committed to their jobs. When we left a portfolio behind, just prior to a key meeting, the manager Brian came to the rescue, going out of his way to find a substitute. James, Evelyn, Mike, Javon, Brock and a few other new faces helped make our extended stay very wonderful.

Overall very nice. Clean and well maintained. Attentive staff. Breakfast selection and quality was very good, well above average for this level of hotel. Within a stretch of malls and chain restaurants, which is typical of a just off the highway hotel, which gave the area a bit of a generic feel, however it was all relatively new and well maintained

I booked a room through Expedia at the Residence Inn in Coralville for a football weekend. After checking out, the hotel charged my credit card $1,473. I called to dispute the charge because I already paid for the room through Expedia, the hotel initially apologized and credited my account. Then several months later another $1,473 charge appeared on my credit card from the Residence Inn without any communication. I called AGAIN to dispute the charge, the hotel said they would take care of it, but they never did. I finally called my credit card company to file a claim, and the charge was removed after mailing in paper work. Then 6 months after my initial stay, my credit card was charged a third time for $1,473! I called the hotel to complain and get my credit card removed from their system. The representative told me that Expedia cancelled the initial reservation, and it was my responsibility to cover the bill! I already paid Expedia for the room. Now I have to get a new credit card just so the Residence Inn will stop stealing from me!

I travel a lot. I have a preferences for particular hotel brands within hotel chains. Residence inn is my go to favorite for work travel (and moderate price personal travel) within the Marriott chain. I've probably been to seven or eight or more residence Inn locations throughout the US. This one was fantastic. From the personal service to the thoughtful spacing for breakfast (alcoves with TVs perfect for families with young kids), real tea!!!!, hot water hot enough for decent tea at breakfast. Good selection of items at breakfast and the pastry was phenomenal. Fruit and yogurt. The rooms were well appointed with outlets aplenty. Lots of towels, lots of space, just fantastic. Got a really good night sleep. The service was top notch. Everyone there seemed to genuinely care about the customer experience. There was also a nice outdoor space with great seating. We stopped at this location, on a personal road trip, based only on when we felt tired and wanted to stop and this residence inn exceeded our expectations. We plan to try to build this location into our road trip plans going forward.

The hotel is nice. Monday - Wednesday they have an unbelievable happy hour with food and free beer and wine. I had a bottle of melatonin go missing. When I tried to contact the front desk the phone would immediately disconnect. I then tried calling the front desk with my cell phone and again it would immediately disconnect. So, at 10:30 p.m. I had to get dressed and go downstairs to inquire why the phones were not being answered as well as if the maid service had turned in a bottle of melatonin. They checked and found nothing and told me the phones were not working due to the rain which got me wondering how much business they were missing out of. The staff sent someone to buy me another bottle of melatonin but it was hard sleeping knowing someone may have stolen it. Marriott is usually a step above everyone. Made me sad.

My husband, younger son and my parents choose to stay at the residence inn in a two bedroom suite. I asked them to accommodate my father in a room geared towards people with disabilities. We were on a first floor room which made it easy for him to shower and had bars in the bathroom. The room fit all five of us easiest (with son on the pull out couch). Lobby has room for hanging and the patio was nice was to spend time outdoors. The staff was friendly and very helpful from the front desk people to the team working the breakfast buffet. Someone even checked our room for a missing pair of shoes after we checked out. Could not have gone better and we will be back as our son got a job in Coralville.

Always stay here. They are very accommodating and rooms are spacious and nice. Great location. Breakfast area was immaculate and food choice were healthy and fresh. Teresa was especially kind and helpful!

We were pleasantly surprised with this hotel. The room was clean, comfortable, nicely designed, and well lit. There was ample seating to relax and watch the large screen TV. The staff was very welcoming of our Golden Retriever and a field next door allowed Chauncey a place to run. And then there were nice fluffy towels and maybe the best hotel breakfast I've had in years--eggs, oatmeal, meat plus all the usual stuff. Highly recommend.

Unfortunately, I was disappointed in my hotel stay. My room was not very clean and this was a big turn off. There was chewed up gum left on the nightstand (under the clock), a few cheetos on the floor, dog hair on the bed runner and my bathroom smelled like cigarette smoke. When I called the front desk about the cigarette smell, two ladies did come up and ask if they could investigate where the smell was coming from, which I appreciated. But, nothing additional was said, no apology or offer to make things right. I understand that this is a pet friendly hotel, but dog hair on the bed runner is not sanitary and as someone with an allergy to dogs, this was a big turn off. I am concerned that my bedding wasn't laundered after the last guest and that is really unacceptable if that happened. After reading a couple other reviews about cleanliness concerns, I do hope the hotel takes this seriously and speaks with housekeeping. I travel for work weekly and as much as we pay for a hotel room, we do deserve a clean room.

The location of the Residence Inn is great. Many restaurants nearby, and the access to campus is easy. The pool was closed for repair, and the rooms could have been somewhat cleaner (especially the bathroom), but the front desk people were pleasant and congenial. We had reserved two rooms for our family, and did so at least 10-11 months in advance. At the time we made our reservation as well as the week prior to our arrival we had requested the rooms be near one another, yet the rooms were not only far from each other, the were located on different floors. Somewhat inconvenient with kids and adults coordinating. Also, it would help if the breakfast were served at the early hour each day, not just weekdays. At least 20 people left without breakfast each morning we were there, because they had a meeting, a need to be on the highway early, or an event to attend prior to 6:30am. Since this hotel is near I-80 and the University of Iowa, it would seem advisable to accommodate travelers as well as university visitors. Last of all we would say that the rooms were designed and arranged with an excellent use of space. Added note--without any canopy or overhang at the entrance, guests get drenched while unloading their luggage.
