Reservations long in advance. Arrive around 9pm after a long, challenging drive. Room #1, unacceptable due to extremely foul odors. Room #2, walked in on family already occupying the room. Room #3, no hot water. Final result - walk across street and book room at the Home2 by Hilton....fantastic experience. No follow up from anyone at Marriott. I have been loyal to the Marriott brand for many years. My Marriott experiences have been all over the world at the very best Marriott hotels. I have written many reviews about the remarkable service that I always receive. This was a deal breaker for me with Marriott. Completely unacceptable. It was like some other brand was operating under the Marriott flag. For the sake of avoiding losing even more business, I hope Marriott can step in and get control of this property.
I was in the area for a dog show over in Amana Colonies, and this property was the only one that I could find that would allow pets. Was I ever pleased with it! The room was spacious and clean with every amenity that I could ask for, the bed was comfortable, the room was quiet, and the grounds were immaculate. The hot breakfast, continental breakfast, and coffee were plentiful and delicious. However, it was the staff that I cannot give high enough marks for. I was there with my Scottish Deerhound, Ghillie, and the front desk staff could not fuss over him enough--that dog was in heaven. The housekeeping staff, the maintenance staff, and the lobby staff took photo after photo with him, played with him, petted him, asked about him, and made sure that we had everything that we needed. We were always greeted with smiles and exclamations when I took him back and forth through the lobby for his bathroom needs, and there was plenty of area outside to walk him for his needs, along with supplied bags and disposal areas for said bags. For travelers with pets, I simply cannot commend this hotel enough for how they treated me and my very large dog! There are many and varied restaurants near the hotel, and a shopping mall too. Anything that I needed was close by and easy to access. There was also a lovely and safe walking/hiking/biking trail and park right across the street so that I could walk my dog and get his energy out in a relaxing and attractive area. I can assure you that when I travel to this area again, I will choose this property for my stay without hesitation. They exceeded my expections beautifully, and I was so pleased with my stay.
I have stayed at over 1,000 hotels in my life and this one has the most friendly and sincere willingness to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. I rate this hotel and there staff a 10 out of 10. Bob B.
We usually stay at a competitor across the street but since we had had a very pleasant experience recently at another Residence Inn, we decided to stay here instead. The desk clerk, Mike, checked us in and I noticed an announcement at the front desk that said the pool and sauna were closed (did not see this on the website when I booked). We went to our room on the 3rd floor, then my husband noticed a sign saying the elevator call buttons did not work and we would have to call the front desk to get the elevator. When we were ready to leave, I called the front desk, and after 25-30 rings, got not answer. I finally called on my cell phone and after several rings, got the front desk. When I started to ask a question, he cut me off and hung up. I went back to the elevator where my husband was waiting. A housekeeper had gone around to the back of the elevator and opened it for us. When we got downstairs, Mike apologized for not answering the phone but said he was busy. We expressed our displeasure with the situation and he offered to move us to another floor. My husband asked if the elevator worked on those floors and he said yes. When my husband asked why he had put us on the only floor where the elevator did not work, he ignored the question and gave us our keys. Now, in this situation, I assumed he would upgrade our room for the inconvenience but he did not nor were we given a reduced rate when we checked out. This hotel is fairly new and should not have such problems and at least have a staff that informed us before we accepted the first room that the elevator did not work properly. I'm glad we had a pleasant experience at another Residence Inn or this would have been our last stay at any of them. We will not stay at this one again.
The hotel is new. The design and room furnishings are extraordinary. Location is great. The food is truly remarkable. The chef, Sam, uses high quality ingredients, fruit, eggs, meats, produce. There is an excellent hot breakfast, and a great variety of other items, including fresh fruit. This rivals any restaurant I would have visited that morning!!
We went to this hotel on a one night family staycation. We got a two bedroom suite which was really nice and perfect for the five of us. The pool was not good, water was the coldest water I've ever felt. The hot tub didn't work and there wasn't even a switch to activate it. I spoke with hotel staff which were extremely nice and helpful but had no idea how to fix the problem. This is the first time my 11 year old got out of the pool on her own and in a short period of time. We went back to the pool in the morning and it had the same problems even though a supervisor was called the night before. Spoke to the front desk again and they were once again really nice but couldn't figure out the problem. Clerk said wow that's cold and that apparently they have this problem all the time. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anybody with kids or want to swim.
Has everything you are looking for. The hotel is well maintained and clean. The rooms have a full size fridge with freezer, double stove, microwave, dishwasher,... easy access from I80. Now we are picky when it comes to eating. It would be nice if they offered some vegan options including dairy free milk, gluten free bread or cereal would be incredible, and all of it organic even better.
This was a great hotel. Our check-in was a snap and the staff was very friendly. We got into our room quickly. The suite was roomy, clean and nicely decorated. I was amazed at how comfortable it was...almost like a small apartment. The kitchen was well appointed and came in very handy. The bathroom was large and easy to move around in. The bed was extremely comfortable and we had a good night's sleep. The hotel was quiet and we weren't disturbed by any noises at all. Our dog even seemed calm and content there. The continental breakfast had many tasty choices and it gave us a good start to our day. I only wish that we could have stayed there longer.
3 day stay, weekdays and weekend nights. Room was not ready at check in. OK, happens. Then the cascade of little things began: The credit card machine didn't work, but was resolved with time. The room was clean. Went to do laundry at night and found there was no change machine, and the desk had no change - at all. So here is the thing: If you have coin laundry, you really need to have a way for guests to get coins. I was told I could go and get some from Popeye's, as if they want to give away their change. The thunder and lightening outside at the time made for a less than happy change run. Once I had it - the machines worked fine. (Also, the desk had no idea of the price for laundry, and then never mentioned the coin operated laundry supplies either) The ice machine was empty in the morning. As in nothing coming out. It was 90+ degrees outside. Another trip to the store. Finally, as Platinum members, we asked for a late check out the night before. The nice young man said sure, until when? 2 pm I said. Come back at 1 pm to shower, pack and leave. Key card doesn't work. Of course. Let me walk around to the lobby and get that fixed where, of course, they have no record of a late check out request. The nice man offered to let me into the room himself. All I wanted was a key that worked, simple request. It was not ok to offer to let me in and leave me without a key. I still needed to pack the car and had to go in and out of secured doors. Other issues: Spa was not working when we arrived, pool was not working when we left. Not coming back, needless to say. Not at all satisfied with this stay.
This hotel was a favorite that fell down for a while, and is now back to being a great stay. Clearly there is a new housekeeping staff, and the office staff is a great mix of dedicated veterans and new folks who are committed to their jobs. When we left a portfolio behind, just prior to a key meeting, the manager Brian came to the rescue, going out of his way to find a substitute. James, Evelyn, Mike, Javon, Brock and a few other new faces helped make our extended stay very wonderful.
