Room was ok. Had to pay $20 extra for pool or watwrpark. Not a relaxing pool. Restaurants limited in area. Had to pay extra for breakfast (20%) discount and opens at 7am.

the housekeeping was not acceptable...one day our room was not even cleaned....could not find tv remote...was made int the bed?????? half empty cups of coffee left sitting around...wastebaskets not emptied, dirty towels left in room, late making up of room...and the list goes on,,,,we were there 5 days....

Every pool was closed but the hot tub. They forgot to turn the heaters on im the kidd pool and big slides so they were too cold to play in and tge slides had ice in them. The chemicals on the other pool were out of each so we couldn't use it. The room was outdated and eh. The pillows were the best part if this hotel I would say.

Nice hotel, it needs a little maintenance in the bathroom, metallic frame on mirror old and rusty. Fridge did not work, offer us a new room, it was late in the night and we rejected the offer. No continental breakfast offered, 20% discount on restaurant breakfast.

Room smelled musty. Restaurant wasn't open. Pool area was closed.

I thought the pool area was disappointing , kiddie pool not working although they did call in advance to let us know my family included a 2 year old . And it was a very small area for the amount of rooms they have

Spend one night there kids had a blast playing in the water park and arcade. I highly recommend the resturant there we had a great stay and will go again.

This hotel isn't what it used to be. The large dining room has closed. I noticed that they had a laundry room but both machines were out of service. The adjoining Amana businesses have closed or been replaced. Clerk at check in was friendly and helpful.

Continental breakfast was ALL cold. Rolls were stale. Dining room was cold as I was told the furnace had broken down. Overall not a good experience and very disappointing. Night before the dining room was not open, so used restaurant across walkway. General Store was closed and that was one thing I wanted to frequent while staying at hotel. Very disappointed in not able to do shopping.

We stayed in the family suite which was much roomier than we had anticipated. The rooms were very clean and the staff was very friendly. Kids and adults enjoyed the waterpark and a great meal at the restaurant. We will be back!

Clean, comfortable. Nice people. Overall better than expected.

I booked this hotel while we were driving on i80 as we were getting tired of driving and needed to get some rest. Big mistake. We were the only guests at the hotel the night we stayed. It was unbelievably creepy having all these extra things attached to this hotel (water park, store, restaurant) that were closed. We felt really unsafe being 3 girls in the middle of iowa, staying at a weird nearly deserted hotel. This wasn't our only problem though. The main lobby had an interesting smell that we hoped wouldn't carry over into our room... It did. The room didn't look terrible when we first walked in, but as we tried to get settled we realized the room was pretty filthy and gross. Only 2 of 4 lights worked in the room, one of which went out while we were there. We also found 2 cricket-like bugs hanging out in there with us. One of the beds had crumbs under the blanket so I wound up pulling 2 blankets out of my car and sleeping on top of the bed. Checking out and leaving was the best part of our stay. Save yourself the stress and go somewhere else.

This hotel could use a major remodel. Although the rooms were clean they had a musty smell. The furnishings are old and dated. The biggest disappointment was that there was no place to eat. There was a sign when we checked in that stated the hotel restaurant was closed on Monday; Not a problem for us; we drove the 12 or so miles into the Amana Colonies for dinner Monday night. Went we arrived at the restaurant on Tuesday morning there was a sign that the restaurant was closed for repair. There were no other restaurants open at that location and we had to get on the road; no time to go into Amana for breakfast and no other restaurants on our route for many miles. We started our driving day hungry. :(

Considering it was the middle of a cold snap (winter), we were stuck inside and the water park is ok for really young ones, but my 10 and 12 year olds were done after an hour. Not very exciting for them. It all closed at 8 p.m. anyway (not advertised hours)! The room was fine. The bed was very comfortable and clean. Also: no continental breakfast...

I chose the perfect midweek place for a couple days of R&R. The hotel was in it's off season, and I had a very restful time! No noise, no laughter, no slamming of doors... just quiet. I was in the area for a wedding, and was between visits to friends. Two days of great food in the dining room, quilt shops in the area, a hot bath in a wide enough tub, and nice room. Very nice stay for someone who needed some quiet time. I'm sure it's different on a basketball weekend!

Staff most accommodating. Our room had a objectionable smell, we were moved with no issue. The hotel used to be a Holiday property, and not much has changed, except for the collection of Louie the 14th French chairs in the lobby. Quite disturbing from the "farmhouse" atmosphere that permeates the rest of the place. Restaurant closed weekdays, a real disappointment. Overall, getting a little long in the tooth.

Passing thru Iowa, and looking for a decent safe place with a pool, I was told this hotel was in a "good area". I guess it was, compared to other places in Iowa-? It was pricey, probably because it was close to the Amana Colonies (which I knew nothing about). The "pool" was non-existent due to the fact that they had a "water park", which was totally geared to little kids, noisy, and not well kept. Most of the hotel followed the theme of the Amana Colonies, with alot of antiques, etc, however, the halls, entrys, and water park were dingy and in ill repair, with dirty plastic plants everywhere. Could have stayed at a Country Inn for half the price and with breakfast, and had a quiet simple pool and hot tub, that didn't close at 9pm. If you are visiting the colonies, maybe a nice place to stay, but if not, don't stop in Iowa--keep driving. Never had a good experience at a hotel in that state. Be careful if you make a reservation in Iowa.

We stayed here for one night and the waterpark was great. Definitely recommend if you're passing through and need a place to stay for one night - it's a bargain.
