Parador De Vielha4.0 out of 5.0

We had a very nice stay for two nights. The room was very good. The dinner was however very average. We visited 4 paradors in the region and the offered plates were almost the same and not very surprising.. the offered meals in the surrounding towns were better and much cheaper.
One can feel that it is an older building, but it is well run and still very functional and comfortable ! On our way back by car from spain direction belgium , we always book hotels with good parking facilities, so was this parador. Quick efficient check in, room with terrace with superb view on Vielha and the mountains We also enjoyed the restaurant where they served good menus with a well trained team Very enjoyable stopover stay !
This Parador occupies an elevated position looking down the valley just outside the town.Access from the road is not great but there is plenty of parking.Good multi lingual reception staff.Dinner not served before 8pm,food was amazingly good in the pleasant restaurant, wines very reasonable. Room was adequate but old fashioned looking as if it was done in the 70's.Noisy road with lorries grinding up and down the hill. The barman in the bar before dinner was first class and multi lingual. I stayed in this hotel about ten years ago and but for the addition of a spa not a lot has changed.
We only stayed for one night at this beautiful property. I can imagine the views are just as stunning in the winter months as they are in the summer. The hotel offers free onsite parking but you can pay 10 euro per night to have your car in their secure car park. Our room was large and comfortable, we had a balcony with a great view. We didn't really enjoy our evening meal and we felt so rushed, no sooner had one course been finished we were being given our next course. Breakfast was a different experience altogether, there was so much choice I really didn't know where to start, absolutely wonderful.
The first parador we have visited. The room and the view is great! Great value for money. The location is good even though nit in the center of Vielha. Better to have a car, about 3-4 kilometers. For The spa you"ll be charged but it seems fair and the price is reasonable. Hope to visit another parador!
A great parador to start your tour of the area...a huge hotel with everything inside its walls....plenty of lounging room...if you should find yourself stuck indoors good size bed rooms clean and tidy (again with no complimentary water) A really good large restaurant with local dishes on the menu ( special mention for the mushrooms with cod carpaccio) and a good wine list. Breakfast was really good too...lovely hams and cheeses plus all the other 'bits and pieces' you'd expect from a hotel of this type.
This large, somewhat modern parador overlooks the town of Vielha. It was busy the two days we stayed, there are a lot passing visitors who only seem to stay for 1 night. There is a small pool but it is located somewhat awkwardly, in the shadow of the building and surrounded by a new fence which looks very utilitarian. Breakfast was excellent, the room is spacious, service efficient and the choice abundant. We didn't eat for lunch or dinner. The rooms are comfortable although not the largest of the paradors we have stayed. You will need a car to get to Vielha, there is no footpath and the distance is about 1 km on a busy road with a lot of trucks. There is plenty of parking.
This is a fabulous hotel. We stayed there for a few days to totally disconnect. With wonderful views of the Val D'Aran, the vistas are stunning. The rooms are a good size and very comfortable. The wifi was not as good as I would expect. One of the best points about this hotel are the staff, who are incredibly helpful and very friendly. It seems that everyone wants to go that extra mile to make your stay ideal. We had the special Vielha menu for dinner, which was really tasty and a great culinary experience that I would recommend. I spent an hour at the spa, which despite the fact that it's small, was not nearly enough time. With such spectacular views, the spa is a place to spend an entire morning or afternoon. I would highly recommend a stay here and we'll be back again.
Lovely position excellent for summer walking with beautiful villages. Viehla is a great town with lots of shops and activities. The surrounding villages were absolutely beautiful. Hotel is in a stunning position. The only negatives are that the spa is payable (prohibitively for a family of 5, rendering it unusable for us) and the food quality at dinner was really not satisfactory
We visited Vielha in July, so cannot comment on whe skiing. The building is comfortable, tasteful as only Paradors are, and looks out over amazing views. The swimming pool is fantastic, and we had wonderful weather. One goes to the Pyrenees with walking in mind (unless in winter, with skiing in mind: the open fire in the middle of the lounge made it look as though winter would be a pleasure!) The Parador is a few hundred feet above the town. The road snakes in curves to reach it, and has no pedestrian pavement, so you can't walk to the town that way. There is a path by way of the pretty little village of Casau, which some people may find a little steep in places - we are in our 70s and did not find it a problem. There are walks around Vielha and from Casau, but to get to the start of most walks that (for instance) the Tourisme recommends you need a car, or to take a taxi, or there are local buses to some of them. The pool was excellent. There is also a small gym and spa (with jacuzzi), which we didn't use, but looked good. The hotel is comfortable, well appointed, the staff helpful and pleasant. A minor criticism: I thought the bar menu could be improved. One doesn't want a big meal in the restaurant for every lunch and dinner. The breakfasts could not have been better.
