Villa Pompea with pool is a residence born from the careful restoration of a rural masseria dating back to the early 17th century. The renovation has brought the estate back to its original splendor, while faithfully preserving its authentic soul.

The villa is located in the historic Valley of Ottaviano, between the towns of Matino and Casarano, which gives its name to the entire district. It's just 5 minutes from the beaches of Gallipoli. While immersed in peace and nature, the property is still conveniently close to essential services. In only 5 minutes by car, you can reach the historic center of Casarano, known for its artistic decorations carved in carparo, a prized local stone that also embellishes Villa Pompea.

As you walk down a long palm-lined driveway, the imposing noble façade of the villa comes into view, surrounded by lush vegetation and 11 hectares of Mediterranean scrub, including centuries-old olive trees and maritime pines. Looking upward, you’ll notice a charming bell tower, home to a bell cast by the historic Pontificia Fonderia Marinelli, the oldest bell foundry in Italy—and the world. A unique feature of the estate is a votive chapel, fully restored, which served in the 1940s as a place of worship and prayer for the noble landowners and local farmers.

The villa includes two comfortable and independent apartments, one on the ground floor and one on the upper floor. This listing refers to the first floor. Please note that the ground-floor apartment may also be booked separately, subject to availability.

A staircase with white walls and vaulted ceilings made of Salento tuff leads to the independent, air-conditioned upper floor. The apartment features:

In this beautiful setting, Villa Pompea invites guests to relax by the pool, enjoy dinner on one of the spacious terraces or open-air lounges, and sip an aperitif at sunset. Shared facilities for all guests include a tennis court with synthetic grass and lighting, which can also be used as a five-a-side football field.

Guests are welcomed with a basket of fresh fruit from the estate and a tasting of homemade olive oil. Optional extras include products from the garden and fresh eggs upon request.

The property is ideal for families and groups of friends. Pets are not allowed. On-site parking is available.
