Perfect location to experience Carmel by the Sea by foot. Plus this Inn located on one of the historic sites and is so charming and the rooms are fully updated and a joy to stay in. It's a short walk to see the sunset on the beach and another short walk in the opposite direction to experience the best shopping and dining in Carmel. Parking can be challenging if you get there late, we arrived at 3pm and were the 1st guests to grab one of the 8 designated parking spots in the courtyard as they call it. Once we were parked we just left it there for the weekend since the area is totally walkable. The continental breakfast is acceptable if you're truly hungry and not in the mood to deal with a restaurant, if you're expecting anything more than coffee, tea, danish, banana, oatmeal, yogurt, OJ, etc. then you'll be disappointed but that's not the point of a 'continental' breakfast. I've had better but I've also had much, much, MUCH worse!!! I would stay here again in a heartbeat, really nice place (and VERY friendly Staff!!)
Requested quiet room but was put in ground flor room where we heard a person above snoring all night - and then the floorboard creaking all morning. Old building NT soundproofed. Breakfast terrible for $400.

The property looks great, rooms are clean but if you need WI-FI, do rent it because it is awful. I needed to work and for me WI-FI is must. I don’t understand why to have it as amenity if it does not work. Also, 5 hours after check it heater stopped working and we were offered portable heater, which was OK in the room but bathroom was still cold. I would not recommend this hotel, very disappointed.

cute little cottage hotel right in the heart of carmel. just four blocks from the ocean and even closer than that to the best coffee shop, carmel valley coffee! very easy checkin, parking right out front of our hotel room door, friendly staff, quiet area. room was super clean and shower was incredible. highly recommend staying here. affordable and enjoyable!

It is near the shopping district, but it is an uphill hike. It is very congested in the area and their lack of on-site parking makes it a challenge to park at most times of the day and night.
I had stayed at the Normandy inn about 25 years ago and had loved the location. It hasn't moved! Some reviews had me nervous, saying how dated it was. Really? Our room was lovely. It wasn't the largest room of our vacation, but very nice. Wonderfully close to beach and restaurants!
The location was great. The room was very clean and spacious, and the bed was very comfortable. Overall the room needed updating. The pictures were showing updated bathrooms, but we didn’t get one. There is no refrigerator in the room. Parking was limited but we were lucky to find a spot.
