We stayed for two nights while on a golf tour. Hotel was full of golf tourists and more senior guests. Hotel interior has improved. The staff in reception and lounges were busy but helpful. Spacious and clean rooms, well furnished with orthopedic beds. Pool, jacuzzi and gym facilities very good and all clean.Group meal was tasty but portions small. Our golf group could not book in until after golf game. Golf course is class. Staff in golf shop not as pleasant as in hotel. Overall very good.
Stayed at Mount Wolsey, had a great time again. It was great to see Liz at reception again. She always makes everyone feel so welcome!! The whole Hotel is amasing and all the staff we met were brilliant!!
This is not my first visit to this hotel, and every single time I stay I get the same genuine welcome and good old fashioned and excellent hotel service. The team at Mount Wolseley always make me and whoever is with me feel very special. On this visit we were with my daughter and her pal and Mam. Four of us stayed in a very big family room. I had told the hotel beforehand it was my daughters birthday so they arranged a gorgeous welcome for her and a surprise cake. They really made a little girls day. Dinner in the bar/lounge was delicious and the kids portions were big, we used the upstairs lounge to play board games later rather than have the kids in the bar late in the evening. They were in awe of the hotel and with the pool and the new playground there was lots to do. I have Coeliac disease and Gluten free options are a must for me, there is a gluten free area for breakfast with cereal, bread, muffins and our own GF toaster. The options on the Bar menu were really good too. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.
Enjoyed food and spa treatments bedroom spotless but the whole place is in need of total refurbishment starting at the front door which is in diar need of painting (first impressions) Carpets fraying, caught my heal in torn part on way to dining room.It is a pity to let the place go as it has a lot in its favour. Great staff
We had requested a nice room prior to our arrival and to our disappointment we were given a back facing room overlooking a roof. The room was quiet small, with over-sized furniture squeezed in; the decor was mis-matched and the paint on the walls was patchy. We wondered if it was our deal that had warranted us receiving this room but it seems everyone we spoke to that was staying had a deal of some kind. The hotel decor in general is dated; we got the feeling that their main clientele (golfers) go for the golf (championship course) and not the hotel. This said we could not fault the food; we ate in the restaurant for an evening meal and had breakfast on both mornings of our stay, all of which was superb. The staff were very friendly and an asset to the Hotel. We had a deal for 2 nights with 1 evening meal (€209)so although we did not experience 4 star luxury we felt we got value for money. We would only recommend this hotel if a similar deal could be obtained and we would not recommend it to someone who is expecting 4 star Luxury.
The location of the hotel was lovely as was the breakfasts and spa treatments, I stayed here for a few days and ordered vegetarian meals but the soup tasted like chicken and the vegetarian sandwich plate had an open tuna sandwich so I complained a number of times and when it happened again I sent it back asking was that tuna on my vegetarian plate, so they returned with a salmon sandwich instead, I find it hard to believe that in this day and age they can't get a very simple dietary request right after I pointed the mistake out a few times, eventually I gave up and arranged to meet my colleague elsewhere for lunch where ordering a vegetarian lunch has never been a problem. The decor was dated with broken fixture, just one example is the trouser press not working.
I hadn't told the wife where we were going on a 3 day break at this fabulous hotel, when we arrived and drove up to the entrance, she was shocked, on entry she got the WOW factor, and that was how it was for the 3 days we stayed, I even got a game of golf during our stay, beautiful course, the staff and that goes for them all!!! made our stay very memorable, they were all first class hosts, for Mount Wolseley, from housekeeping to waiters, dinner servers, amazing people🤗 The break was so relaxing and special, thanks to those very people,. Would I ever go back??? Simply YES!!!! The dinners were fabulous, breakfast hit the spot, and the Craic and music every night was well welcomed, many thanks to all at Mount Wolseley, keep the good work up.
Dinner in Fredricks restaurant was not good and poorly presented which was very disappointing. We forfeited our 2nd nights dinner and went to the 1st restaurant entering Tullow & had superb food. I told receptionist we were not happy and she said she would pass our complaint on to management. Never heard from them. On a positive note - Lunch in Aaron lounge was good and breakfast also very good. The championship golf course was excellent but overall I expected the experience to be better. Don`t think ill ever be back. Was not worth the money..
Stayed in the Mount Wolseley for a two night break. Check in was very good and efficient. The hotel has a nice big reception area with a staircase coming down either side which looks really well. The room was big and spacious, it also had a toilet separate from the bathroom which was good and a large very comfortable bed. The deal we were on included tea / coffee and scones on arrival plus two, two course evening meals. The tea and scones on arrival was a nice touch, trivial I know but they only done fruit scones and as I don't like fruit scones. Dinner on both evenings was very nice, and wasn't rushed. Breakfast was buffet and had a good selection of hot and cold food. All staff in the hotel spoke to you and engaged with you. The arron lounge was a hive of activity, a massive area full of comfortable seating where you could eat or have a drink, not sure on how many evenings but there was a guy who played a guitar and sang from about 9.30pm. It is the ideal location if you play golf, which I don't and the golf course runs down both side of the drive. I would definitely go back again.
We stayed here mid August for one night and availed of the b&b plus an evening meal. We started off with drinks in the bar which was lovely and had a nice atmosphere. We ordered soup and a sandwich and some chips for lunch. The chips were never brought out which was grand & we weren't charged for them. For dinner we headed to the restaurant which is where the service went downhill. We got our menus which had only 4 options for mains (1 or 2 of which incurred a supplement). We ordered our food and a bottle of wine. The starter came and went and we were still waiting for our wine. The restaurant was so warm that my boyfriend had to leave & grab some air. While he was gone I played on my phone and it is only then that our waitress approached us to remark on the mains (never mentioned the bottle of wine, nor did we as at this stage we didn't want it). I guess the light of my phone attracted her attention in the dimly lit room. The food came out and it looked like it had been sitting out under a light for a while. I had the chicken and it was alright. Our plates were cleared and we ordered desert which was once more limited in choice. We ended the night back in the bar listening and having the craic with the singer. I prob would stay here again but I wouldn't be eating in the restaurant again but the bar food was lovely
