Villa San Felice4.0 out of 5.0

In September we had the pleasure of staying two full weeks with Giampiero, his brothers, and fabulous staff at Hotel Villa Sanfelice. We have traveled to Capri many times and have stayed in a private villa and another midsize hotel but for this trip we followed the recommendation of a friend and chose Villa Sanfelice as our home base. I am still smiling as I write this review. The location couldn't be any better tucked just beyond the bustle of via Camerelle and a short five-minute stroll to the Piazetta. Our room was clean, comfortable and well maintained by Rosa. Our breakfasts were simple and satisfying. And the pool ... oh my the beautiful pool ... was such a treat. We did not travel to Capri to sit by a pool, but found ourselves stopping by at least once a day to enjoy its setting and Antonio's warm company. I could go on but will sum it all up by saying, if you a lucky to travel to Capri you simply must add to your experience and stay with the Guarracino family at Hotel Villa Sanfelice. convenient great staff
We had a balcony room which was large and comfortable. Shower a bit feeble but that's nothing unusual in hotels these days for some reason. Friendly staff, good buffet style breakfast and the added bonus of a pool which is rare on Capri.
Bathroom very small and bed room was fine. Breakfast ok. Staff very good. Nice balcony until you see the view - which was a wall!! Sorry but its such a shame - no point complaining but was it worth £200 plus per night - not really OH and the pool too was excellent
I booked this hotel as a part of our honeymoon and the hotel was adequate for the one night we stayed. The room was very sparse and we were on the first floor facing the pool. It smelled musty until the AC kicked in. Also, there was no shampoo or conditioner - only 3 pumps of body wash in the bathroom, so I was lucky to have shampoo and conditioner from another hotel. As others have written, the pool area was lovely and there were plenty of lounges available in the late afternoon. The breakfast was okay - not a lot to choose from unless you like to eat carbs. So I had yogurt and fruit and coffee. We had to leave early for a boat ride in town and our ferry didn't leave until 4pm, so we were thrilled to learn that the hotel offered to bring our baggage to the Ferry for a nominal fee (I forgot what it was, but it was less than the cost of a taxi - maybe 15 Euro). Our bags were literally waiting for us on the ferry and we didn't have to worry about or shlep them all day! All of Capri is expensive, so I would have to really research if I would stay there again or try to find another alternative. Again, for one evening, if was fine.
Stayed here a few days in the middle of July and I was very happy with my choice of hotel. Sanfelice is located on a side street just by the busiest street in i Capritown, but those few meters to the side creates a perfect and relaxing oasis. The poolarea is great and you never have to fight other guest for the perfect subbed, and on a few places you can even catch a glance of the ocean. The rooms are spacious and gives a homey feel. The service was also very good and here I would especially like to give a big thanks to the manager Giampiero who really went the extra mile to make his guest feel welcomed and taken care of. The one thing I would say could be improved might be the breakfast which all in all was good, but I would have liked some more choices and maybe some better fried bacon. All together I can end with saying that this hotel was definitely the best part of my Capri stay.
My wife and I visited this property as part of our honeymoon throughout Italy. It was booked by our travel agent so we did not have much information in advance other than a few pictures we saw online. When we first arrived we were told that our taxi could not take us to the hotel due to the roads in the center of Capri being reserved for pedestrians only. This wasn't a problem, but we did have a little trouble locating it. The hotel is near the center but off a very small street (alley) and is not clearly visible. We were greeted by some very friendly front desk staff who treated us warmly and professionally throughout our entire stay. We booked a "Superior" room but, if I'm being honest, it was the least impressive of the four hotels we stayed in during our honeymoon. The room was sparsely decorated and did not have much character. While the room had a garden view I did not think the garden was that impressive. There was was also a mechanical shutter that you could raise and lower with the flick of a switch. Although this definitely kept out the light in the early hours of the morning (which we appreciated), it kind of reminded me of something you'd see in a commercial building as opposed to a hotel on one of the most beautiful islands in Italy. The bathroom was small but adequate. I could not for the life of me, however, figure out why the shower/bathtub only had a very small glass barrier that prevented some -- and that's the key word -- water from falling onto the floor. This seems to be more standard in Europe than in America, but is odd to me as it clearly creates a tripping hazard. The swimming pool was the best part about this hotel. When we first arrived we noticed that the pool was very crowded and every deck chair was taken. We were lucky to get a spot on the second day of our trip. I also appreciated the fact that the pool actually had depth that was greater than 4 or 5 feet. My only desire would have been if the pool had a better view. We were surrounded by other buildings so we could not see the ocean or anything else. The breakfast buffet was also the least impressive of the four hotels we stayed in. The assortment was relatively small and the eggs and bacon were in a warmer that gave the appearance that they had been there for awhile. We did, however, enjoy eating out in the courtyard and hearing the birds in the trees. Overall the hotel was average. If I visit Capri again I'd probably spend a little extra money to get a hotel with an ocean view overlooking Marina Piccola, which we thought was the best overall.
This hotel is located at the center of Capri peak near the Square. You can go everywhere you want. And it has a swimming pool even in peak. Staffs also are typical southern Italian. Very kind and helpful. I feel warm-hearted. But facilities are old and no complimentary water even at first day(Naple). I want to be back next visit in Capri.
While visiting Capri during prime time in August this month we were saved by this hotel from being homeless! Our original accommodations had fallen apart and 7 of us were left stranded. Immediately we thought of Villa San Felice from the memorable experience prior years. We went to them in a jam during a weekend and they went above and beyond to make sure we had a place to sleep during our stay in Capri. GianPiero, Gianni, Espedito, Antonio, Cristiano, and the rest of the staff made us feel more like family then hotel guests. We will never ever stay anywhere else because of how they treated us. Espedito would be there to make a delicious cappuccino then you turn around he was helping with your luggage. They never stopped working to make sure we felt right at home. Words cannot describe the warmth we felt during our stay with them. Not to mention the location is so close to center, the pool is a great asset, and the complimentary breakfast did not disappoint! Thank you again for saving us in a jam we are forever grateful for the owner, and all of his sons and his fantastic employees. Every hotel should take a lesson from them, on how customer service should be. See you Soon! Gennaro, Jaime, Ang, James, Shavonne, Sebastiano, The Jason
The hotel room itself felt somewhat sparse. The room (on the first floor, facing the grounds) smelled musty. The breakfast was acceptable but the cappuccino was terrible - even by American standards. The location of the hotel was convenient.
Location was great in the middle of capri town however down a little narrow street so felt quite private. Very friendly helpful staff. The only downside being that i really would not rate it a 4 star hotel, more 3 star. The room was ok, however the double bed was made up of two mattresses pushed together, not especially comfortable, and one thin sheet as a cover. There were no amenities in the bathroom except shower gel ( no shampoo/conditioner/moisturiser). There were no curtains, and instead a rather unattractive electric shutter system. No complimentary water, despite the heat. The breakfast was pretty basic. No italian pastries as hoped for! Although that was probably good for us. Eggs and bacon always looked like it had been sitting there for hours... prob a best idea not to have them out at all. The positives were v friendly and helpful staff, nice pool ares, great location, and good value for Capri. So overall, if this was a 3 star hotel i wouldnt have any complaints. And again, the staff were v friendly and helpful. They did recommend a lovely beach club for the day which was excellent and away from the crowds.
