We stayed here n October with a Cosmos tour. Our room was amazing. The elevator went only to our room. Upon exiting the elevator you were on a landing. Our door was to the left and actually had a doorbell. Upon entry, there was another little foyer. There was a closet to the right and the bedroom door to the left. The bathroom was also off this landing and there were stairs leading to a sleeping loft that also had a balcony. Down below the bedroom also had a rooftop balcony. Both balconies had a view of the Bay of Naples that was breathtaking. The bed was so comfortable and the bathroom was spacious and equipped with a spa tub and shower. We felt like we were in a penthouse suite and imagined important guests summering in this suite in years past. The hotel hung on a cliff over the Bay of Naples. We enjoyed meals in the dining room and drinks in the bar by the window with a fabulous view. One night there was a beautiful rainbow over the water. The hotel was within walking distance of the shopping area of AnaCapri. I would so love to stay longer some day.
The hotel is in Ana Capri, perfect location, awesome view. The rooms are spacious and clean, fast check in. Love the massage chair they have in the love, hobby and I spent 20 minutes each after long day waking in the island. Capri could be little overwhelming during the day due to traffic but after 3 a complete experience. Hope I can return some day, I will definitely recommend the hotel to family and friends.
Capri was never going to be cheap and while this may not be a true 4 star, the price we paid reflected this - If we wanted better we could have gone the the 5 star over the road and paid five times as much. The only place we spent two consecutive nights and the breather was great. The hotel had what can most positively be described as a faded grandeur. Service was middling and the pool was chilly compared with our other stops but don't let that put you off stopping here if you can get a decent price. Swimming in the Blue Grotto was a fantastic experience. Don't pay a fortune for the boat ride and row boat, walk down the cliff and swim through the hole. Fantastic!
Stayed at Hotel for four days...views from the room amazing. Staff very friendly and helpful.the room decor was a bit outdated the view from balcony made up for it. Would definitely just they put a coffee machine in the room. That would've been great enjoying a cup of coffee and a beautiful view in the morning.
My husband and I stayed here for two nights in August. Stunning location with beautiful views. The pool is gorgeous with towels provided and plenty of sun beds. We didn't eat at the pool but the food looked gorgeous...Our room was very spacious with fully functioning air conditioning. Overall, excellent value for money. Would definitely return and recommend.
We were very disappointed by this hotel. It's clearly not a 4 stars hotel as there is no service -employees are not welcoming -poor rooms: broken shower, old matress -dirty: we had ants in our room! -bad location: far from Capri center and Marina Grande. During peak season it's impossible to take the bus at this location since they are completely full at San michel hotel's station. You have to walk up to Anacapri center to get the chance to take the bus. -additional fees for beds and umbrella at the pool... (6€) In conclusion: you won't have for your money!
After spending the same amount of money for two and three lovely nights in Sea Breeze (Massa Lubrense) and Palazzo Rosenthal Vesuview (Trecase) respectively, you would like to think Hotel San Michele would have more to offer for a one night stay. Anacapri is a beautiful place and very quaint so don't let this hotel review put you off going to Anacapri itself, just don't go here! Here goes... When we checked in we were greeted by a lovely lady, unfortunately this is where the nice things ended for us. When we booked online we were told there was somewhere safe to leave our belongings while we waited for our room; this was the corridor. When we got the key to our room we walked in and could barely fit my wife and I in with our luggage. The bathroom is so small I banged my elbow twice just using the toilet and washing my hands. This is even more disappointing that our "standard double room with a balcony looking over the gardens" was a tiny space with no where to sit and half of the balcony looked over the building and a tiny bit of the garden. I had no reception on my phone and the free wifi was so slow I gave up on it after 15 minutes waiting for something to load. The air conditioning didn't seem to make the room any cooler even when turned down to the coolest setting. We paid €218.68 for the night, I found this appalling for what we were given. We stayed in Massa Lubrense for two nights with a balcony and seating looking over the harbour for €20 more than we paid for one night here. We decided to go and sit by the pool for the last few hours of sun, to be told we had to pay for our sun loungers, then we were constantly fighting off the flies. When we got back from the pool and tried to settle in to our room, we noticed how unclean the bathroom was and it smelt of sewage. We also noticed a smashed pannel in the shower as well as hair from previous guests on the sink. We were also given linen napkins as small hand towels. The decor is extremely dated and has gone past 'shabby-chic' to just plain-old shabby. Please see the pictures below. When we checked out, not one person asked us how our stay was and the service on exit was not as good as the welcome, except for the transfer back to the harbour. We spent very little time in our room because we were so put off, we literally only stayed there to sleep. We came to Capri for a night as part of our two week tour around Italy for our honeymoon and unfortunately the hotel has put us off coming back. The only thing we were happy about was our greeting from the front desk and the transfer. We feel like we have been robbed!
We had one of the best rooms in the hotel with three balconies and all water views which were beautiful but the rest of the amenities were lacking. Breakfast is essentially pastries only, eggs are available but you have to hard boil yourself. The room where breakfast is served is also quite hot and indoors. There is a pool onsite but you have to pay for a chair. In retrospect I would have preferred to stay in Capri Center. Taxis to and from Marina Grande or Capri center from Anacapri will run you 25 euro each way.
We have stayed at Hotel San Michele for the past 3 years, and it just gets better. The rooms, the restaurant, the La Lanterna Bar, and the lunch and bar facilities at the huge swimming pool are superb. Nothing is any trouble for the staff and I would particularly mention Attilia, Cotaldo, Agnese, and Massamo. The location provides incredible panoramic views over Capri Town, the harbour, and the Bay of Naples towards Sorrento to the right, Naples and Vesuvius to the centre, and Ischia to the left. Everything in Anacapri is within walking distance, and the hotel shuttle bus provides transport to Capri Town and the harbour from where hydrofoils and ferries operate to towns on the Amalfi Coast, to Sorrento, and to Naples. We are looking forward to our next visit in 2018.
Absolutely love the hotel for it's location and view. Great huge pool and everything you need in walking distance. Rooms vary. Get the view rooms. It seems that they have some upgrades. Unfortunately, the place needs love. There is so much potential but you can tell only the necessary things are done to keep it going. Have stayed there many times.
