Our stay at Carmencita was just great. Everything was perfect with the room. Fabrizio was a great host, very knowledgeable about the local area and Capri as a whole. We were made to feel so welcome, it was almost like staying with friends :)
This place was perfect in every aspect:the hotel's architecture makes you feel like part of this beautiful island, with a relaxing pool where to have tasty and refreshing Aperol Spritz's and getting excellent service from the staff. It is located in a perfect spot near the center of Anacapri, a great area to merge into the local's culture and go for a nice afternoon walk. The hotel was very clean, and the staff went above and beyond to meet all our needs, giving us plenty of information on which places to visit in Anacapri as well as Capri... but Anacapri took our breath away! On top of this, if we needed help getting to any of these destinations, they would make all the arrangements for us, making our overall stay succeed our expectations, which were already pretty high! We will definitely come back, a big thanks to Fabrizio and his staff for making our vacation one for the books!
We stayed at the Carmencita for 2 nights whilst visiting Capri, opting for Anacapri because of availability, slightly cheaper (sensible !) prices, and location (away from the crowds in Capri centre). Our stay was pleasant and enjoyable. We think it is family run, which showed in the great welcome we had from Fabrizio on reception, who gave advice on places to visit on the island, and also arranged for a lift back to Capri ferry port when we checked out, making it much cheaper than the local taxis and meant less time pressure. Our first night was in one of the smaller and basic rooms, which had no windows hence no view. This was ok because they said we would be transferred to a different room for the second day, which they did, which was much nicer with a pool facing view and balcony. On the second afternoon we wanted to use the pool, but it was closed for seasonal cleaning before it got busy, but Fabrizio kindly arranged for us to use the pool in a friends hotel over the road, fantastic ! The breakfast buffet was a little bit on the limited side (which we came to realise is probably typical of Italian hotels), but was more than adequate for our needs, and the freshly made Spanish omelette style bites were lovely, as was the coffee. The location is great, just a 5 mins walk over the road and you are in Anacapri centre (it is not big so you can get anywhere in about 10 mins walk) and 5 mins from the bus and taxi station for when you want to venture further. Be aware this is not a large hotel, it has a 3 star rating, so don't expect 5 star luxury. This is reflected in the much more sensible price of a stay here as compared to some of the hotels in the main town of Capri. It gave us more an impression of a good sized guest house, which we like because sometimes larger hotels are less personal. In summary a nice no-thrills, modest, friendly stay in a good location. We would not hesitate to recommend or stay here again if we were re-visiting Capri.
I booked in advance more than 20 rooms but just 3 weeks before the event I was sent an e-mail saying that due to a computer error there was no booking at all. This was not professional at all and caused a lot of stress and additional work. The hotel suggested other hotel but they were all almost fully booked so we had to book 3 different hotels and arrange transfers and payments with 3 hotels. It was a really bad way of dealing with customers. British Embassy, Rome
The hotel staff went above and beyond, and we are very appreciative. Shortly after arriving to Capri, my daughter (who was on holiday with college friends) was injured. The hotel staff demonstrated such kindness to them during their stay and treated them like family by providing transportation and food and making sure they were ok. So even though away from family, they truly felt cared for during their stay. We look forward to staying at your hotel during our next visit..
I stayed for three nights in early June. One really nice feature is that they pick you up for free from the ferry in Marina Grande thus eliminating the need to hire an overpriced taxi or to travel on a crowded bus. Their driver Sanjeewa is very kind and helpful. The location in Anacapri is excellent, the centro storico with several sights and lots of restaurants, cafes and bars is nearby as is the cable car to Monte Solero and several walking trails. They have a lovely swimming pool. It was out of order during my stay, but they had arrangements with another hotel - I was too busy exploring the island, so would not have had time for swimming anyway. The room was not large but of adequate size, and fine for a short stay. There was enough wardrobe space for my belongings, a TV with some international channels, and aircon which would be useful in the hotter months. However, there was no in-room safe or fridge or minibar. The bathroom was also quite compact but just good enough, it could do with a bit of updating. Shower pressure was so-so, but there was plenty of hot water. The big disappointment was the breakfast, meagre even by Italian standards. Very basic. The best thing were some mini pastries, but they were only available on the first morning. If any item like cheese or ham was finished it wasn't replenished - well, there wasn't anyone around you could ask. Check by one of the family members was efficient and friendly, but afterwards I hardly ever saw anyone be it a staff member or one of the family who own the hotel, so I can't really join in the chorus of adoration for the service. The price was reasonable for Capri.
Went for our honeymoon and loved it! - Amazing staff. Family ran. Sanjiva drove us to and from port (lovely guy). Pasquale runs the pool bar (super friendly) and Fabrizzio was our main guy at the front desk (super helpful and friendly. Helped us book at boat trip which was superb!) - GREAT location. Highly recommend Anacapri! But this hotel is an amazing location - short walk (3-4 mins) to start of the stores/restaurants, chair lift trip is 5 min walk, bus stop is 5 min walk. - Pool is amazing! So refreshing and the bar is such a lovely addition - Rooms are basic but in a good way, also nice and clean - Breakfast is really nice and always well maintained - Price is good also! - Would definitely go back!!!
Overall, Hotel Carmencita was nice given the price. The first night, we stayed in a middle room with a photo of a window painted on the wall. However, there was some noisy neighbors so sleeping the first night was a bit rough. The owner provided a half bottle of wine for the second night and our room was one with a window/balcony facing the pool. Bathrooms were a but small and the curtain frequently stuck to your body. (I'm 5'9" 155 pounds) The staff was very courteous and there was transportation provided to the hotel from the port. Returning to the port, using the hotel transportation, cost 3.5 euro per person. I would recommend this hotel if you are on a budget.
A good decision to stay in Anacapri instead of crowded and touristy Capri.Enhanced further by our decision to stay at Carmencita. Satish was there to pick us up at Marina Grande and after a quick check in and friendly chat with Fabrizio we were shown up a few steps to our room. The place looks like a home and the room like your bedroom back home.Colourful blue handcrafted tiles, pleasing upholstery, comfy bed give it a very homey homey look. The attached balcony looks out at the swimming pool. The breakfast is good with breads,croissant,coffee,salami- 2 types, and one day excellently prepared eggs with bacon. The location is excellent...just next to the bus stop and across the street to the beautiful shopping area which has a heady fragrance of sweet smelling flowers. The church with the fabulous tiled flooring, Villa San Michelle, and chairlift a 10 min walk away. Down the road is Aum Aum a reasonably priced eatery with a wood fired oven which is very popular with the locals. They have a very friendly staff who on request even sing and dance to a popular Italian song with you! The owners are most helpful and his tip that we go see the blue grotto around 2 pm was priceless. We got to see the grotto in all its splendour and without a wait of even few minutes.
Our ski club stayed here and had a wonderful experience. Fabrizio put out a great spread for our welcome reception on arrival. He and his family worked very hard to make our stay memorable. Staying in Anacapri was a good choice and a great location close to their main Piazza and shopping.
