Sorell Hotel Seidenhof

in the center of zurich, 5 min walking to lake or train station

First, let me say that this hotel has a lot of nice features, but failed to measure up in enough ways we won't be visiting again. Parking is neither discounted or close by. At a minimum you'll pay 43 CF a day for a public parking garage 5-10 minutes walk away. I would have been less upset if the advertising for the hotel had specified the situation, instead of mentioning discounted parking. The desk staff didn't seem to realize what the advertising on orbitz specified. The staff were generally friendly and took our bags up to the room for us. A personalized note signed by the manager and cleaning staff, free fruit basket, and water were also nice touches. However we had to wait for them to switch out a regular bed for a baby crib (asked for in the reservation), call the front desk for toilet paper because it was empty, and the A/C unit advertised was functionally useless. The sink is also essentially in your lap when using the facilities for lack of space in the bathroom. The beds were comfortable but sweltering and we couldn't leave the windows open for long for the cigarette smoke wafting up from the courtyard and noise keeping us awake. Breakfast the next morning was below average. Coffee was undrinkable and the eggs were powdered. My young daughter who usually loves them couldn't understand why these were nasty. The fruit salad tasted old and so I ate bread and Nutella to cut my losses. This hotel has potential to be great, but I will not be visiting again.

Excellent location, friendly staff, clean, simple room. Great value for Zurich.

Good value for the location and quality. Well equipped room

Very good location. Nice & helpful staff. Pleasant breakfast. Highly recommended.

The hotel is in a perfect location off the Bahnhofstrasse and only a 5-10 min walk to the train station. The staff was friendly, responsive and helpful. My main issue was with cleanliness-the balcony was dirty with cigarette butts on the floor, and there was a squished dead bug on the wall above the bed, and a dirty white curtain in the bathroom. The staff responded quickly to my complaint about the dirty balcony and to my request for more Nespresso coffee pods. The oldest vegetarian restaurant in Europe Hiltl is across the street from the hotel and well worth going to die either take out or table service meals. Oh, the breakfast in the hotel was varied fresh and plentiful.

If you're in town as a tourist, this is the perfect location. Good value (for Zurich) for the area and for what it was. Very pleased overall.

hotel centrally located service excellent room comfortable and I most certainly will stay again at the Seidenhof if I come to Zurich again aggie

The hotel is very conveniently located within easy walking distance of the train station, trams, shopping (Bahnhofstrasse), restaurants, the old town and lake. My room was for a single person, small but very clean, quiet and comfortable. Breakfast buffet was traditional Swiss and very good. Service was impeccable. I definitely recommend it as one of the best value hotels in Zurich.

We arrived one day laye because the Delta flight from Tampa to Atlanta was delayed and we could no longer make the connection to Zurich in Atlanta. We checked in the Seidenhof at 10:15 and the room was ready. Room 111 was directly across from the Jelmoli department store (5 floor), which is very convenient for shopping, as there is a high quality grocery/wine store in the -1 floor. There is also very good shopping at the St,Annahof department store 100 m away. you can buy good swiss wine there e.g. Aigle, Fendant, La Cote for $5 to 6,-. Service was excellent. The only negative thing is the noise from traffic.

With the room adjacent to the interior courtyard, it was very quiet. The room had air conditioning which was very quiet.

Location Is great, hotel is clean and good for 3 Star

Clean room, and quiet but close to the train station. I would come back.

Decent, clean, perfct location for Business in Zurich center

Great location, short walk from the Hauptbahnhof. And a short walk to most parts of the old city. Comfortable and clean, friendly staff, but the complimentary breakfast was a little lacking, though the coffee was great!

The hotel could not have been in a better location - just a five minute walk from the train station and directly off the main shopping street. The hotel staff was polite and helpful and the room was clean and comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was good and obviously less expensive than going out, especially considering the prices in this city. I didn't spend a great deal of time in my room but the time I did spend there was enjoyable.

hotel stay most satisfactory I return to the hotel year after year for many years

Perfect location from the train station. Located in the heart of the Bahnhofstrasse Shopping District and only a 5-minute walk away from Lake Zurich and Old Town Zurich. Staff was very friendly and accommodating especially with speaking English. Will definitely stay with them again or a sister hotel.

I was on a visit to Zurich and as always, I have stayed at the Seidenhof hotel. As always, I have enjoyed my stay at this excellent, well-run hotel.
