Sorell Hotel Rigiblick4.0 out of 5.0

I chanced upon this hotel on tripadvisor based on other reviews and went ahead to book it. It was truly a hidden gem. The room is the biggest hotel room that I have ever stayed in. Loved the large ceiling to floor windows, looking out to lovely trees. Bonus: on the top floor is a 1 Michelin star restaurant, lovely dinner but service is pretty slow. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because the service is indeed lacking. I didn't mind not having a reception while checking in and out, but when I needed help with WIFI whilst in the room, I couldn't reach anyone over the hotel room phone. When we were checking out, told the staff about it and she apologised for forgetting to connect my WIFI and phone on. That and the water boiler is filled with tea leaves left from the previous guest and housekeeping forgot to clean it. It wasn't a biggie, the staff were all very courteous and friendly. The spacious, beautiful room made up for everything. Also, I'm on the same page with the other reviewer about the bathroom, the layout is a little strange. If I'm ever back to Zurich, I will definitely stay there again.
Everything was perfectly planned...the (as I learned during my stay) former, very friendly managing director accommodated my wish to get the Clariden suite and prepared everything for us to have a great stay. The suite is beautiful and the view of Zurich and all the green is - thanks to floor to ceiling windows - just spectacular. Apart from the king size bed, full bathroom, dining table and living room with TV, the suite has a nespresso coffee machine, microwave, fridge, a mini cooking place and cutlery and glasses for up to four people. One big downer this time: since we did not find a bottle opener, we called the internal service number from the room - no answer. After approx 10 calls, we called the hotel number from a cell phone and the person answering told us we would get the bottle opener in a couple of minutes. Over 1 hour and another call later we got the bottle opener from a very unfriendly person. It was only when we checked out the next morning (a very friendly lady) that we learned that the managing director I had been in contact with had just left the hotel the week before and that there was an interim guy for the next couple of months (the name was the one of the grumpy unfriendly person on the phone and delivering the bottle opener). I guess we will come back at some point but only after ensuring that guy is not responsible for the hotel anymore...
I have lived in Zurich for over 8 years and have never been to the restaurant at Rigiblick. I ordered the taster menu and every course was excellent! From the amouse bouche to the chocolates at the end everything was excellent. Good service and a great view.
The location is amazing: You take the Rigiblick cable car to the final stop and walk up the hill to the premises. I strongly encourage you to take the Clariden room, because you have an amazing view of the garden with giant floor-to-ceiling windows. Note that the on-site restaurant is also one of the best in town, i.e., the full package for a great little getaway. Sadly, the arrogant staff turned this experience into something reminiscent of a crow defecating on your new tuxedo right before the wedding. Asking for a bottle opener should not require two calls and an hour wait. Getting it delivered with an attitude, is the last thing I want. Despite this place evoking fond memories, I will choose not to come back. Just because I do not want said crows taking a dump on my memories again...
I booked this hotel by "accident" as the person recommending the hotel had meant another one...but this was one of the best "accidents" you can imagine. The hotel has very few rooms and the one we got - well it was not really a room but more a suite - was beautiful - high ceilings, a complete window front, modern and expensive furniture, big bathtub, Nespresso machine - just wow. Service was attentive and unobtrusive. And the best: the view over Zurich when you wake up...unforgettable...
A designer boutique hotel with just seven spacious well designed rooms, sitting on top of Zurich commanding a superb view of the city. Breakfast was sumptuous and delicious. Staff courteous. There is no reception as you find with hotels, so you essentially get one of the staff from the restaurant to get you to check in.
the modern hotel with very few rooms was very quiet. impecable room with a kitchen and fabulous bath all in one open space. i enjoyed the location lovely forest.. could go for a run. the breakfast delicious and healthy. close to a gondola which takes you directly to the city center. i will go back is an amazing experience!!!
My husband and I booked this room and the chefs table in there restaurant " Spice ". The evening was amazing and above are expectations. The food was amazing and the service was impeccable . Our room was similar to a Zurich apartment with a view over a park and the city of Zürich. Top!!!!!!
This is an aparthotel + in a residential area with amazing view of the city. Had a huge room with incredible scenery from two sides, almost seemed I was in the forest yet within 10 minutes of the city center. Breakfast was great, and so quiet and relaxing.
Came for family-friend's wedding and was impressed by the size of the room, decor, design and room amenities. Room was very clean. Staff, overall, was very attentive and kind. Food at reception was excellent. The bistro seating outside attracts some, but it never felt crowded. Really, as The Americans, we were well-cared for.
