Stayed here earlier this year for a couple of nights. The location is fabulous, right across from the lake. Their staff is courteous and helpful. The best part of the hotel is their rooftop, the views are fab from top. Would recommend this place to anyone looking to spend some money.
This hotel has a very nice location right in front of the lake, with many of the balconies and rooms facing this view. However, whoever rates this hotel as a 5 star hotel must have been intoxicated while accrediting this establishment. To classify this hotel as the same standard as the Dolder Grand, Park Hyatt and so forth would be an outright joke. This hotel is most definitely not a 5 star hotel, but more likely a standard 4 star. The rooms are outdated and old, and clearly require a renovation. Furthermore, I left a few things in storage once which suddenly disappeared and no proper apology was provided. However, the price is actually quite low, so I guess you get what you pay for. Please note that this review is older, so rooms may have been updated by now, which I doubt.
Very friendly staff made our stay really great. The hotel has a classic style but is getting out of date. Nevertheless we got a nice big room and really enjoyed the weekend. Close to the Tram station and right next to the lake, this place has a perfect location for a city trip. We got told that they will be refurbishing the hotel and look forward to seeing it all new. I do hope they keep the staff as they are fantastic.
Very friendly people, excellent service and quality. It is a cozy place with a lot of privacy. Food is tasty, location is brilliant with a stunning view from the rooftop terrace. I always enjoy it there and go there often.
Definitely would recommend the hotel! It is truly luxurious, at the same time with friendly and approachable staff. I especially loved their attention to detail, like for example, freshly cut red roses at every single breakfast table.Thank you for the memorable stay and the magnificent view of lake Zürich!
We stayed in the hotel in late September, 2017. Had room 409 with the view of the lake and a balcony. A note to travelers, the hotel is great and the people are great. But if you have a lake view room it can get toasty in the afternoons with the setting sun going down beyond the lake. Would definitely stay there again but may not be in such a rush to pay for the lake view. Should also point out that the hotel will be closing in mid October for extensive renovation and won't reopen until mid 2018 at the earliest.
A friend and I wanted to have a leisurely lunch at a Zurich restaurant on the lake. We called ahead and made reservations at the roof top bar/restaurant at Eden au Lac hotel. When we arrived there was one other occupied table, and those folks left almost immediately. Even though we called ahead, our table was not set or prepared for us in any way. We ordered drinks (beer and iced tea) and a meal. We shared a Caesar salad. I had lobster bisque soup and my friend had a burger with fries. After lunch we ordered an espresso and a cup of hot tea. The salad was ok. The soup was bland. The burger was nearly raw and the fries were limp. The beverages were fine. The view was fantastic. The service was okay. The bill came to 116 Swiss Francs. I don't think I'll go there again.
The Eden is a great city hotel. Rooms are big and well maintained. Nice views. The service is a big plus, all from door man to waiter make the hotel what it is. A few little details to get better. Music in bar is far to hip, does not match. Kitchen staff needs to learn not to send out burned food! Breakfast buffet is poor, bacon as burned as toast last night, meat are just 3 slices of each, kind of post communist buffet. Good hotel, try to get a room without breakfast!
I really enjoyed my time at the Eden au Lac. I've been coming to Zurich for many years and always stay downtown. This time I decided to stay at a hotel with a nice view of the lake. I took a lake facing view, which was very nice with a very pretty little balcony (it appeared to me that rooms facing the other direction look directly out to a building behind the hotel). The staff was all very friendly and efficient. I had several business meetings in the bar of the hotel, where one can drink or even have a meal, and it was very discreet and nice. The room was very old world and roomy. Lots of plugs for devices. I was also very pleasantly surprised by this neighborhood of Zurich. It's an easy 10 minute walk to either downtown or the old city, but there are plenty of restaurants and cafés right near the hotel - as well as the opera. And you can walk (or run) along the lake, which is also great. My only complaint is that there is no gym at the hotel and so they told me they would give me a voucher for a local gym. I went to the gym, which is obviously much better than a hotel gym in terms of the variety of machines, but where the changing room was a bit grimy. However, I was very surprised to find at checkout that the hotel charged me 20 francs. I've seen other hotels with similar arrangements with local gyms - particularly in Switzerland, but I've never been charged by the hotel before since most hotels, particularly at this price, provide gyms. Breakfast was very nice in a beautiful room (which is the hotel's restaurant). All in all I was very happy with the hotel and will come back after renovations, They will close on 15 October. So this review might be a bit irrelevant to most readers, but I look forward to when they reopen.
We stayed 2 nights as part of a pre-river cruise package in Switzerland. The hotel is beautiful and the staff were wonderfully friendly and helpful. The rooms were comfortable and generous in size, and our bathroom had a bidet. Breakfast was buffet style with good choices of juice, fruit, meat, cheese and hot items.
