Another business trip to Zürich and an overnight stay at the Engimatt. As usual very friendly staff and a comfortable standard room on the first floor. Despite only ordering a main course I was treated to an amuse bouche and coffee and surprise desert. My Weinerschnitzel with fresh vegetables was excellent.
The Hotel was very clean, decent breakfast & functional room with a comfortable bed. Nothing at all to complain about, but I probably expected more for the price, but I guess this is the case generally in Zurich
Friendly staff and restaurant is surprisingly good. Large comfortable rooms. Downsides - rooms are slightly dated in terms of decor - room service was very slow on my visit - curtains do not cover windows. I know there are trees between the hotel and adjacent buildings but leaves fall in winter... - no gym
Having lived in Zurich years ago, I know that everything can be expensive and a little "reserved" and aloof. I've been back many times and with a couple of exceptions has proven to be true. I thought I'd try something different and found the Engimatt City-Garden which was completely refurbished a few years ago, but still feels new. The rooms are. The location is fantastic for public transport, car access, (They have good parking facilities) and it's near the lake and city. The welcome is warm, friendly and helpful and the bar and restaurant high quality for the location.
Stayed for 5 days in Sep 17. Due to peak season, i couldn't book a top brand hotel and had to settle with this property. Pros : 1) staff in reception area are good 2) Hotel near to sihl city mall. This mall has good dining options and also shopping of basic stuff 3) Very near to tram station. 5 mins away from lake and other places of interest Not so great : 1) Room was ok and not great 2) Balcony not cleaned 3) Except for 1 staff (forget her name) in the restaurant, rest were not very approachable Very bad : 1) We had booked for twin bed. We got single beds joined together ! 2) House keeping staff need to be trained. In one instance, one of the guys (we assume he was part of electrical / maintenance) just opened the room door and walked into the room when only my wife and kids were in the room ! He immediately went out and when he was confronted near the lift, he just laughed and blabbered something in german / swiss and walked away. This was also mentioned to the staff in the reception 3) On the way back to airport, we had asked the reception staff to help us get the cab with seating for 2 kids. They organised the taxi and also fixed the price with the driver / cab company and told us to pay a particular amount (inclusive of child seats). When the vehicle dropped us to the airport, we were asked to pay 30 CHF more than the agreed price. when we resisted, we had to settle with 15 CHF extra. We were told that hotel was aware of this price. This hotel is good for a basic 3 star property. Though we saw families in the hotel, we wouldnt come back to this hotel. I would rather look at the hotel attached to the sihl city mall.
This is my least favourite hotel (so far!) in Zurich. My biggest issue was with the beds - I asked for a double and got two singles pushed together that moved. The mattresses were thin and it was like sleeping on the rubber tops they give to the incontinent elderly. The other issue with the room was the air conditioning. It stubbornly wouldn't budge from 23 ( I had a fever whilst I stayed so the room felt like a sweat box!) so I had to open the patio door to ventilate instead. The hotel itself was nice, with the decorative flair clearly being saved for the public areas. Room service starts at 6.30pm. All in all, not bad enough to warn away from but the bed issue means I certainly won't be back.
It is a nice hotel in Zurich near the city center. I've stayed here 2 times this month and both times I had a issue with poor wifi signal. It was really slow and liked to drop off. Other than that it's a normal value for money for 4 star hotel in Zurich. Breakfast are nice.
I recently stayed at your fine establishment from 20 August to 23 August. The staff was wonderful and friendly. Of note though, I wish to call out Monica (unsure of last name). She worked evenings to nights and is of Spanish origin. Monica went above and beyond to help me as I found that I had left my mobile in a taxi. She is a beautiful and friendly person. Very personable and fun. When I am back in Zurich I will stay again at the Hotel Engimatt and hope to see Monica helpful and smiling again.
Nice quiet hotel convenient for the office. Interesting visitor at dinner on the very pleasant terrace and some kind of insect bite all over my legs - not sure if that happened outside or in the room. Certainly didn't notice being bitten at dinner
I spent a week there, first by myself on business, then my wife joined me for a long weekend. The location is good, in a quiet near-suburb of Zurich downtown, but still within reasonable walking distance, and very close by multiple train and tram lines. We had a large room at the back, with our own little balcony overlooking the trees. We were very near the Sihl river, good for morning runs/walks. It does have a highway on top of it, but we heard it only mildly with the windows open, not at all with the windows closed, and it was hidden by the trees. Service was great, and the restaurant was very nice. We had breakfast every day, a nice spread included in the room, and a couple of lunch/dinner meals. The outdoor tented patio was a delight from cool mornings to hot noon times. The Enge neighborhood is quiet, but close enough to downtown and and to the lake.
