We stayed in the hotel in August 2016. Impressions twofold. On the one side, the hotel is old, the furniture a bit shabby, not everywhere in the room it was clean. But on the other side, a very friendly staff that is ready to help in any matter. The hotel has an underground parking lot, a lot of places, but they are very narrow. When we arrived late in the evening, despite the fact that several places were free, I become his big car (SUV-crossover) has failed. The hotel has a small pool (located inside a building), but with an open-air terrace. with wi-fi problems were just in the room - in the distant rooms are not finished off the signal. But in the lobby wi-fi worked great, even though it caused inconvenience: the evening we had to go down from the room into the hallway to the first floor. The historic city center on foot to walk 15 minutes. Near the hotel there are several restaurants and cafes. But good quality restaurants are located on the promenade. This hotel can appreciate 3+.
We had a type of apartment for 4 people with two bedrooms. Quite good, friendly staff, average breakfast. Rooms a bit run down, swimming pool looked great. Considering 4star hotel, probably a bit over stated but on the other side, prices very moderate too.
If you are visiting Ascona you will find A very nice hotel with an excellent stuff. The air condition rooms are very good and clean. A Very good breakfast is served. It is located in a walk distance from the lake maggiore.
Beautiful town on the lake and within walking distance to Locarno. Planned some day trips to Lugano and to Stresa, Italy. Breakfast was ample and included in the rates. Front desk service was very good. Rooms are a bit dated (70"s style) but really does not matter. Free outdoor parking if available.
The location is it bad, it's around a 5 min walk to get down to the water. The rooms are not bad, we had a room for 3 and there was plenty of space. The breakfast buffet was a little small, but the cheese selection was top notch. I would recommend this hotel, but don't expect a high class fancy place.
I was greeted with a very warm welcome from staff at Sasso Boretto. The hotel has convenient underground parking - a good touch. Room was nicely fitted and very clean; the room's balcony gave way to awesome views of city and lake; perfect retreat for a couple. Location was really ideal as close to bus stop connecting to anywhere you would want to go. We will be a return customer at this hotel when next in this beautiful city.
Nice, clean hotel 7 walking minutes from the Piazza. Have their own parking. Rooms are european sized incl. TV, nicely furnished and clean. We had a nice large balcony (some of them with view of the city and lake). Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Excellent value. Can only recommend it.
Very friendly staff, always helpfull, funny, Italian! Very very clean rooms. Although the bathrooms were basic but good. Choose the first floor as the rooms open into a garden terrace overlooking the mountain. I was lucky enough to get this. The hotel is walking distance to the very small downtown. Close to a bus station that can connect you to anywhere. The bed was also very comfortable.
I stayed at this hotel at the end of March 2015 and I have to say I have rarely felt as welcome and comfortable. The minute we arrived, we were greeted by Alessandro the General Manager who was kind, charming and informative. He professionally and accurately confirmed the details of our stay and continued by giving an introduction to the area, places to visit and restaurants to try. He had a wide local knowledge and easily answered questions on our onward travel arrangements. Despite the reports of some reviewers, there is plenty of convenient car parking space and we were soon able to unload our luggage straight into the lift and up to our room which was spacious, the beds comfortable and there was plenty of cupboard and wardrobe space. We had stayed in a hotel in Milan the previous night and the room at Sasso Boretto was easily twice as large. Off the bedroom was a furnished balcony with a view of the mountains. The room was very clean, well lit, the bed linen well laundered and to a good quality and there was a large flat screen TV. A good wifi connection was important to me and I have to say the I was more than satisfied in that the signal was reliable, very fast and free of charge. The bathroom was to a good size, plenty of quality towels and I was delighted to find a proper bath tub. It was well heated and ventilated and there was plenty of hot water. The public areas to the hotel were spacious - plenty of chairs, a breakfast area that got all the morning sun. The reception desk was welcoming and organised with appropriate local information clearly displayed. We were met by Alessandro but other members of the team reflected his philosophy of being warm and welcoming - clearly all staff shared his philosophy. The swimming pool was to a good size, well heated and gave a pleasant view of the garden. In addition, there was a small and reasonably equipped gymnasium. Outside, there was plenty of well tended garden space and this was furnished with comfortable sun beds and good quality upholstered benches and occasional tables situated under a gazebo. Breakfast was to an excellent quality and well served. There were several choices of juices, cereals, dried and fresh fruit, seeds and the most beautiful breads, freshly baked croissants, rolls and fresh loaves. I particularly enjoyed the freshly made Bircher Muesli, yogurt and fruit. A wide choice of fresh coffees and teas completed the meal - very enjoyable. A particularly nice feature of breakfast was Alessandro's presence - he chatted and was available to advise guests on their activities for the day. The location of the hotel really suited us as it was quietly situated on a quiet tree lined avenue and only a very few minutes from the lake side - a beautiful walk through the old town. I was so happy there, felt so welcomed. I have read other reviews and noted comments that the hotel needed some refurbishment. I found that the place was attractive, comfortable and gave excellent value for money. Out of curiosity I called in at a hotel on the waterfront and saw a room which was half the size of our room and twice the price. I felt that Sasso Boretto was a good choice and the welcome I received from Alessandro and his team was above price. Well done, keep it up, I shall hope to return.
We stayed here for one night traveling back from Valle Maggia to Switzerland. The location is a little outside of the old town but easy to walk. It is also somewhat dated but the staff were friendly and helpful, the pool and rooms were clean and so I can't really fault it!
