This hotel is housed in a modern building designed by an architect with an eye for detail. Impressing and creating a nice ambience was more important then stacking the maximum amount of people in the minimum amount of space. The hotel has beautifull common areas , a glass walled elevator and rooms finished at high standards. At 180SFR a standard room is certainly not overpriced. All amenities, including large flat screen, minibar, safe, complimentary coffee, great bathroom, comfortable chair. And airco, wich in Switserland even in four star hotels with rooms overlooking the lake and mountains is not always a given.
The location of the hotel was great. Walking distance to central Bern. There was also a train stop right outside. The hotel was quiet and had air conditioning which was appreciated since Bern was unseasonably hot the days we were there. They will keep your luggage on the day you check out so you can explore the city. We were part of a tour so had the buffet breakfast. There were a lot of selections. I especially like the fresh baked bread.
First time in Bern we picked this hotel as it was just outside the old city. The tram stops just across the street and then you have good connections to all public transport, e.g 5 minutes to railway station. We arrived early so our room was not ready so we went for a tour . When we came back it was still not ready, we where offered a drink and was upgraded to a suite! Very nice. Breakfast is good, staff is attentive and helpful. Nice outside space . Nothing to complain about.
Accommodation: very good quality Cleanliness: perfect. only downside is that you have to pay for your breakfast onto on the room price city taxes etc etc- not sure really why it can not be just included!
Visiting my business partner in Belb I took this hotel. Arriving late (22.30) I knew I wouldn't get much out of it. Arriving at the reception a smiling lady welcomed me and told Har I received an upgrade. Nice Coming up to the room I was very pleased to find a spacious room with B&O on the wall, Charles eames resthair and balcony with view to the outdoor terraces. Nice beds and a great breakfast buffet made this a nice stay for me. Parking is just underneath and if you want to gamble the Casino is next to. Enjoy I will be back Bo Harbeck
This was my first visit to the Hotel Allegro, as I was a guest of the Bern Tourist Board and Skywork Airlines, and I was staying at this property. From start to finish, I could not fault the hotel or the staff. Everyone was extremely friendly and so helpful. My room was extremely comfortable, practical and well kept. I've seen other room types, including the economy rooms (no window/no view), club rooms and then the Penthouse suites. All offer a very high degree of comfort and are extremely well looked after. If you are there for a conference or meeting, the facilities are good. The hotel has two restaurants, an Italian and Chinese, and offer good fare. A buffet breakfast (CHF26 per person) is very good indeed and stocked well and replenished constantly. Please remember that Swiss prices are high, very high, and for many can be quite frightening. My suggestion therefore is to buy a room rate that includes breakfast. The Hotel Allegro is part of the Kursaal conference and casino, and is located just over the bridge, a short distance from the very city centre. Please do not let this put you off staying there as all visitors to Bern (providing they have booked accommodation) receive a "Bern Card" on arrival at the hotel. It's valid for your stay and is free of charge (OK, there's really no such thing as a free lunch, and it's paid within the hotel taxes, but it's extremely useful). If you are flying in to Bern Airport or arriving by train in to Bern Rail Station, show your hotel confirmation to the bus or tram driver and you will be allowed on. Once at the hotel you will be given your Bern Card. The hotel is reached via a number 10 bus, from the station, heading in the direction of Köniz Schliern, which stops outside the Hotel Allegro. Alternatively, hop on to tram number 9, in the direction of Wankdorf Bahnhof, which also stops outside the hotel. I'm not a fast walker, due to a weakness of my right leg, from birth, but I managed the walk in to town, in around ten minutes. It's a lovely walk across the bridge and the sight of the Alps is a sight to behold. Spectacular! If your prefer get the bus number 10 or tram 9, and you'll be there in moments. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone paying a visit to Bern. It's a great location and even better for being just that bit out of town. My sincere thanks to my hosts at the hotel, and I will be back as a visitor very soon.
room, design of hotel, asian buffet, bar...everyting was great. What i found especially nice (i am swiss) is that the service crew were mainly swiss people, even swiss-german people, with the lovely bernese accent.able, because usually in Switzreland one has foreign personnel...
Great city view good location easy walk to town good restaurant in nice gardens comfortable room with bath plenty of toiletries + patio doors to balcony friendly staff excellent parking on site well maintained hotel
Friendly staff at the check-in desk and a fairly modern look to the hotel. Once I got to my second floor bunker it turned out to be spacious, but I could not find the window. It turned out to be hidden on the side of the bed and featured a view of a 110 cm wide atrium. Three floors above there was a small opening of daylight. I have stayed at worse hotels, and having just checked in I expect the breakfast (for which I have to pay extra; $31 for American breakfast) to be good. The hotel generally seems to be of a fair standard. The staff are friendly and the internet fast. However, I have never stayed at a hotel which is has this poor value for money (even in Switzerland). At CHF 300 (€277/$310) per night I had expected to be able to see the sky or at least something better than an industrial looking very narrow atrium.
We stayed for 4 nights due to a congress. We had to take the cub from the train station, because it is quite a bit away. But it is easy to walk in the center from the hotel (7 min). The breakfast is really good and fresh. They are slow with serving hot drinks, like tea or coffee. The inhouse restaurants are really good but expensive. Also the Hotelbar is great. The room was rather small but the bathroom was big. There was not really a few out of the window, which was disappointing. The room was clean and I got fresh towels every day. The staff was also friendly.
